Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) Review | Do Four Cameras Make This the Best Mid-Range Shooter?

With the galaxy, a 92018 Samsung is showing that it can follow trends or at least keep up with other companies that do it's a bit of a surprise that the company's first quad camera smartphone is an A Series model, and it makes the current flagships, including the recently launched Galaxy Note.9, seem a little out of date very eager to see whether Samsung can excite buyers. Once again with this headline-grabbing new feature, the galaxy a 92018 comes in three colors, one of which is just plain and simple black, while the other two are uncharacteristically exuberant for Samsung. It isn't just the jewel tone. Colors that stand out. The finish is very shiny and there's a faint grainy texture that gives it depth and catches light as the phone moves, the front of this phone isn't half as adventurous as the back. The infinity display screen doesn't cover the sides and there are relatively chunky borders above and below it.

At the back, the four cameras are arranged in a narrow, vertical strip, with the ultra-wide 8 megapixel camera, with 120 degree fields of view on the top, a 10 megapixel telephoto camera. With the 2x zoom lens below it, the 24 megapixel main camera that boasts of an F 1.7 aperture in the third spot and finally, a 5 megapixel depth sensor to assist with focusing and portrait shots. The sim tray can accommodate two NATO Sims, as well as a micro SD card.4G LTE is supported on both Sims and micros capacity. Support goes up to 512 gigabytes with a 6 point.3-inch screen, there's no denying that this is a bulky form. It's 210 gram weight is also well above average.

The glossy rear is, thankfully, not too slippery, but you'll definitely need two hands for most tasks rather than one of its homegrown Enos processors. Samsung has gone with the Qualcomm snapdragon 616. This model is usually found on phones that cost quite a bit less nearly half as much as the galaxy, a 92018. In fact, our review unit came with 6 GB of RAM, but there's another variant available with 8 GB of RAM as well. The snapdragon 616 U is no slouch with 8 CPU cores and integrated Arena 512 graphics.

It can deliver a premium experience on par with what flagships of a few years ago felt like the 6.3 inch Super AMOLED screen has a resolution of 1080 by 22:20. This panel supports an always-on mode that shows you the time saved battery level and essential notification icons. Whenever the phone is in standby, you get a 3800 William hour battery, which is a surprisingly low capacity. Considering the bulk of this forum, our review unit was running. The Samsung experienced UI version 9 with Android 8 as the underlying base.

There are loads of Samsung Apps, several of which duplicate order plays taboos. Apps Samsung had a brief moment of clarity when it ditched most of the bulk of its Touch ID UI and instead launched the minimalist Samsung experience UI. While the experience isn't laggy and a lot of the customizations are helpful, the annoyance has crept back in this is mostly in the form of spam alerts. On the positive side, the UI is very visually polished and there's a seemingly endless list of useful settings. Samsung pay mini is available for UPI cash transfers, but not the full Samsung pay for point-of-sale transactions, which is disappointing on such a premium device Bixby requires a Samsung about, but it hasn't proven to have any killer feature, yet it displaces Google Lens in the camera app.

There are lots of permissions and disclaimers. If you activate just about any Bixby service, the day-to-day performance is completely faultless, and you'd be hard-pressed to identify any situations in which this phone isn't as smooth or responsive as its counterparts, apps load quickly and multitasking is easy. The screen is very well suited to watching videos and playing games. Everything looks vibrant and motion is very smooth. The built-in speaker is loud and pretty clear, but we really would have liked proper stereo sound.

We got through a full day, starting at 9:00 a. m. and ending at midnight, without needing to reach for a charger. During this time we played some games for about an hour streamed a full-length movie browse through apps and websites and kept on checking our messages when left playing an HD video loop, the phone lasted for 12 hours, 57 minutes. Of course, what everyone wants to know about is the quad camera module on the rear, the Samsung Galaxy, a nine four cameras might seem like a gimmick, but at least the reasoning for having them is pretty solid.

Today's dual camera smartphones usually have one standard camera and one specialized one. This could have a special wide angle or zoom lens or a sensor, that's tuned specifically for low-light or just a depth sensor with the galaxy. A 92018 Samsung is giving you one standard camera, a depth sensor and two specialized cameras. In addition, the camera app shows a set of three icons just above the shutter release. Switching between the wide standard and zoom cameras takes a second or two, the cameras which is only available in the auto and scene optimizer modes.

It's disappointing that you're not able to switch between cameras in pro mode when shooting video you can start with any of the three cameras act, but be warned that if the zoom camera is selected, and you tap, the record' button you'll actually begin recording through the standard camera with 2x digital zoom of life. This lets you switch between standard and zoomed in views instantly, while recording, but the icons don't change at all and there's no indication that the actual zoom camera is not being used. The three cameras are also not evenly matched. The primary one has a 24 megapixel sensor and f 1.7 aperture, which is great for low-light. The zoom camera has a 10 megapixel sensor and f 2.4 aperture and the ultra-wide camera gets only an 8 megapixel sensor with the same F 2.4 aperture, the wide shots are the graininess with immediately noticeable battle. Distortion zoomed in photos are actually quite good, but some of our samples looked a bit over sharpened in the dark.

The galaxy a 9 will first switch to the zoom camera, but after a moment or two will switch right back to the standard camera and show you a digital zoom fail. Ultimately, we didn't get much use out of the wide-angle. All the zoom cameras at night and users will be better off with the standard camera in 99% of all situations. Other camera features include adept mode that works well enough, a beautification mode and an are emoji stickers. You get slow-motion super slow motion and hyper lapse.

Video as well. You don't get optical image stabilization, but there is electronic stabilization, except when shooting at 4k wide HD or one is to one the front camera on this phone isn't to be forgotten. It's a 24, megapixel F 2.0 unit with fixed focus. Shots are decent for a phone of this price, but not exactly spectacular. Full HD videos looked good, but there was a little of focus on tech.

All in all, we'd say that the Samsung Galaxy, a nine, four cameras don't amount to a lot. You get a little versatility, and they might occasionally come in handy, but we wouldn't call this an absolute must-have set of features. Samsung has certainly made a splash and is showing a creative new side, while meeting all its Chinese competitors to market with the next big trend it found in each that was just waiting to be tapped and drove right in others aren't far behind, but we hope that this is the beginning of a strong new phase of innovation on many budget phones, a secondary camera is barely functional and serves more to check the now obligatory dual camera box on the spec sheet. Similarly, Samsung has employed dedicated wide and zoom cameras here, but they don't serve a lot of purpose beyond grabbing headlines and tempting vials cameras aside. This is a competent smartphone that delivers strong performance and looks good while doing it, but we'd be a lot more forgiving of its quirks and our software headaches if it cost less than 30 thousand rupees.

If you don't care much about draw performance and really just want to show off you'll be quite happy with the galaxy a 92018. On the other hand, if you prefer an all-rounder, there are far better options in the market. That was our review of the new Samsung Galaxy, a 92018 with four cameras for more reviews and videos like this to visit us at gadget.360 drops.
