Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 Review - Almost a Flagship Smartphone?

Hey, this is lioness. What's up, here's the Samsung Galaxy a8 I know that on paper, this phone does not look really impressive, but in reality the phone just looks and feels like it likes your phone. It has a great overall performance, but it also has a few caveats to consider stay tuned to the full tech line. HD review just before we start make sure to check out the video description for all the links and show notes. Once you pick the phone up, the first impressions you are going to get are that the phone is premium, and it looks and feels like the most expensive, like ships out there thanks a glass and aluminum construction and great overall build quality. Well, we have a very similar design to the Samsung Galaxy S8 or note 8, but the phone is a little thicker and heavier the star of the show is the display that takes the majority of space of the front, even though the bezels are slightly larger than on the s8.

The panel is sharp, vibrant, and it's easily one of the best in class for both indoor and outdoor use. Another highlight is z2 all cameras set up on the front that allows you to take portrait selfies speaking of optics Samsung implemented a traditional single camera system on the back with a bright aperture lens I found the buttons to be really nice, and they are just in the right place. Also, I just love the placement of the loudspeaker, since you won't end up covering it up and either if you hold the phone in the portrait or in the landscape mode, that's really clever, and I wish other phones, including Samsung's flagship, had their speakers placed on the side unless they had a front firing sound system, speaking of sound I, would love to hear a little more depth, but the overall quality of the loudspeaker is pretty good. The Better jack is here, and it provides with great sound quality to the fingerprint. Scanner has finally moved to the right place, and it works very well.

We can also use face unlock feature which works quite well, but it's not as fast and reliable as the fingerprint unlock feature. Finally, you get a notification LED light a highly customizable and power efficient, always-on display, and last but not least, the phone is water and dust resistant. Just like the Samsung's flagships, I know, I know every time, Samsung or other major manufacturer releases, the mid-range level phone. There is a bunch of spec ads out there who say that the phone is under powered, but it's never all about sheer specifications. It's all about optimization.

The phone can easily handle even the most demanding tasks like 3d gaming I played quite a few different titles, and they ran without any issues also with the phone does not get hot, even after, like 30 minutes of gaming. If you don't like the fact that there is only 32 gigabytes of internal storage, you should know that you get two SIM card slots, any dedicated micro, SD card slot for cheap storage expansion, which is a feature that he missed on most of the phones, including the Samsung Galaxy s 8 and the note 8. One thing that is disappointing is that the phone ships with Android 7 out of the box, but the Android 8 update, is just around the corner as usual to Samsung. There are plenty of features, settings and little tweaks to play with just to name a few. You can change the display settings, customize the navigation bar or use a blue light filter to reduce the eye strain just like on other Samsung phones.

You can change the looks by choosing from plenty of wallpapers or themes or use smart advanced features. There is a bunch of them, but my favorites are the ability to quickly launch the camera, use the fingerprint gesture to open up a notification panel or run two apps side by using a multi window feature. Of course, we have Bigamy assistant that has improved quite a lot, but I'm still getting used to using it overall I love that the phone is really fast and responsive. Despite all those extra features, as usual, I installed plenty of apps, and I'm, yet to see the phone lag or stutter great overall performance stock. Camera app takes pictures really fast, just like on Samsung's flagships.

My favorite shooting modes include a pro mode that allows you to change a few image settings and, of course, a life focused mode that takes really nice-looking selfies with shallow depth of field effect. Thanks to that secondary camera sensor, the small blurs the background really nicely with almost no artificial image processing. You will be able to take beautiful selfies with this phone pictures taken using the auto mode. Look really nice too. The overall image quality is very good.

You can take near excellent daylight pictures, even though I could only test the camera on a dark and cloudy day. There is plenty of detail. Color reproduction is usually accurate and even dynamic range is pretty good. I love that the camera does a pretty good job in low-light -. Well, it's not a flagship, great performance, but night pictures are easily one of the best I've seen from a $500 phone.

This device can shoot videos in 1080p. There is no 4k video recording feature which is really disappointing. The overall video quality could be great as there is plenty of detail and the footage is really stable and smooth, despite the fact that there is no optical image stabilization. However, the continuous autofocus is jumping like crazy, and it may ruin the entire video I'm. Pretty sure this can be fixed with a future software updates.

But these are my test results.1080P selfie video looks great as there is plenty of detail. Finally, some recording quality is pretty good 1080p, and this is the maximum resolution. This won't include videos in terms of connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy a8 is just excellent call. Quality and signal.

Reception are perfect. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC work just fine. There are quite a few sensors, including a gyroscope, meaning that the galaxy a8 is compatible with VR headsets and 360 content. Finally, the phone supports two USB OTG, meaning that you can connect external devices like USB flash drives, I'm, really happy that the battery life is just great on the Samsung Galaxy a8. Well, your mileage may vary, but under my usage, I was able to get about nine hours of screen on time, which is a very good result.

Considering the battery capacity and the size of the display, there is no wireless charging, but the supplied fast charger will fully charge the phone in about one and a half hours in the conclusion. The Samsung Galaxy a8 has a few pros and cons to consider, and actually let me start talking by mentioning a few cons. First, a lot of people would say that this phone is a bit overpriced, considering mid-range level specs, but the overall performance, including gaming performance, is just great, so I have no complaints about that, but the point still ships with Android 7, not Android, 8 out of the box. There is no 4k video recording and speaking of that, video recording the continuous autofocus is jumping like crazy, and hopefully this will be fixed with the future software updates. Finally, there is no wireless charging.

Now let me talk about the probes. The phone is well-built, and it definitely looks and feels lucky flagship device, also a lock great overall performance, including great gaming performance, despite those mid-range level specs. That means it's all about optimization. Also, the cameras are one of the best in this price range. The battery life is great, and you also get a lot of extras.

For example, the fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable. There's also a face unlock feature: I love the placement of the loudspeaker. There is a dedicated micro, SD card slot for cheap storage expansion, there's also a notification LED light always-on display and fast charger in the retail packaging. At the end of the day, there are a few caveats to consider, but, in my opinion, pros easily outweigh the cons and I think that the Samsung Galaxy a8 brings a ton of premium features. But what do you guys think about the Samsung Galaxy? A8 drop me a comment down below also drop me a comment down below.
