So, what is up guys nick here, helping you to master your technology, galaxy, a72, unboxing and first impressions? Now we covered the galaxy a52, but a lot of people ask. Can you cover the galaxy a72? This is the bigger brother to that phone. It's a little more, but I got the color that I was trying to get the a52 in, but the baby blue was sold out when I looked for that one initially, but you can see galaxy a72 right there at the bottom. We have some spec, nothing there and on the back, just a plain white box: let's go ahead and crack into it. So right here, there's a little seal, and one thing I will say is that the series boxes they're not as premium as the s-line boxes, as you would expect. Definitely the galaxy s.
Series boxes are a little more premium looking than the series, but that's the point. The series isn't the premium line for Samsung. So you can see right here. If we open it up, it does say: Samsung Galaxy a72. You can see right there, infinity o display a quad camera 64 megapixels with is ip67, water and dust resistant now inside here we do have our warranty guys and things like that.
So if we open this up, you'll see some warranty guides in here. We'll read that crap later, and you'll see right here, sim card tool and then over here galaxy a72 bam that b, that baby blue is beautiful. Definitely for the price of this phone. You're going to pay around 450 for this one. So not too much to get this really.
Nice look here and right off the bat I can already tell. I got some nice plastic on this one right off the bat I can already tell this is a little bigger than the galaxy a52 go ahead and take a look at this next to the galaxy a52. Just to show you what I'm talking about 6.7 inches versus 6.5, it's slight, but it's definitely a little noticeable and then inside the box here. Actually, let's go ahead and boot that up really quickly while we're waiting, it does have a screen protector pre-installed down here. So definitely that's nice and there is some plastic around the edges, we'll peel that off before the review.
I'm going to leave it on for now, but definitely nice overall look especially in the colors. I think they got a purple color as well, and you'll see right here. We do have our USB cable and guess what you get a charger in the back. So let's check out this charger superfast charger too superfast charging, so not sure if you could see that superfast charging on this one. So very nice overall setup.
You know it's got the basics in the box. I don't see a case in this one. Maybe some of you may get a case depending on where they're shipping this at, but I'm going to go ahead and get this thing set up, and if I see anything unusual then I will pause and show you that all right guys, so we're now in the phone. All I had to do was sign into Gmail. Samsung.
Com put your biometrics in, and you were basically in the phone here, so you can see. There's a Google tray on this phone right here. Let's take a look at the wallpapers, we do have one UI 3.1 on board as well. If I go to my wallpapers you'll see pretty similar to the a70 or the a52 with one different wallpaper. I have that a52 right here, and you can see right here.
If I go to wallpapers here, there's only one different wallpaper here for the a52, so just wanted to talk about that. First. Is that one right there other than that, it's still the a-line. It's the same thing. One UI 3.1 is on board here with android 11, so you're, basically getting the same experience, you would get on the galaxy s line when it comes to when it comes to the software. One UI 3.1 is on board here, along with android 11, so you're, basically getting the same experience. You would get with the software on the galaxy s line of phones, which is a nice thing, considering the price of this phone.
That's really. What gives us a perfect overall, you know feel, is that you have high-end kind of software with you know, a cheaper body and a little slower processor, but you got a lot of features you can play with here on the line of phones, just like you could do with the s line like you have all this multitasking stuff that you could do on the s line as well. So it's really a neat touch here on the a72 as well. A 6.7-inch screen dominates the front, that's a 1080p panel 2400 by 1080, and this is super AMOLED, so very good. It's not their dynamic AMOLED that they've that they put on the more premium phones, but at least this one is a 90 hertz display right here now you could, I think the 5g is supposed to have 120 hertz, but this one is 90 hertz 90 hertz of 120 hertz is not as noticeable of a difference as 60 hertz and 90 hertz.
However, so you're not going to see too much of a difference between this and maybe a 120 hertz, but really is a smooth panel compared to the a71 of last year. So this is the one that came before it, and you could definitely tell it's not quite as smooth with having you know that 60hz display, although the a71 was a pretty good performer as well, it did the job. This is a definite upgrade when it comes to the overall smooth factor. I will be doing a more in-depth comparison between these two. If you want to see that, let me know down below in the comments and this phone does have a quad camera 64 megapixels wide 8, megapixel, telephoto, 12 megapixel ultra-wide.
In addition to that, it does have a 5 megapixel macro. Let me bring in this tesla model x, demo, car right here to go ahead and check out those cameras really quickly. I always like to check those out in my first impressions, and I expect this to be very similar to the a52 and that's what I'm seeing here so far. I can go up to 30x zoom. Furthermore, I think that's the same on the a52.
If we go to more you'll notice, it does have a dedicated macro camera on here, which is always fun to use it's fun because you can get super, super close. Let me go to the tesla logo right there. You can get really, really close on things, and it's just something that would get blurry on some other cameras, even the s21 ultra. If I get that close, it won't actually take the photo it'll look kind of blurry uh just because it doesn't have a dedicated macro lens. So there are some advantages to this camera over even an s line of phone, depending on the type of photography you take.
Although the results will not compete very well, it is still a very nice setup here fun to use, especially at this price point. You have a lot of creative options. The ability to go ultra-wide. You can go up to 10x, you can go 20x, I mean you're just getting so far. We can't even see anything at this point, but there's just a lot of zoom, and then you still have all of these other aspect ratios in here.
So, if you're not able to purchase an s phone, but you want to kind of enjoy the similar feature set of that type of phone. Like a galaxy s21, you should definitely consider the a72. This one is giving you a screen size, that's more akin to something like the galaxy s 21 plus, but it's also giving you similar feature, sets so very nice overall phone and comes in these fun. Colors like this blue. It comes like a violet color.
It comes in like a white black. You have this one, so definitely a fun overall phone, I would say front camera. I forgot to talk about that too. We have a 32 megapixel front camera on this guy, so Samsung is not messing around they're, giving you nice specs for the money here, keep in mind. One area where it does fall short, though, is going to be on the video recording side when it comes to getting the highest resolution.
Video recording you're not going to get no 8k you're, not even getting 4k 60 here, you're only getting 4k 30. However, I would argue: that's enough of a know, frame rate for a lot of people here: uh, 4k 30. , you do have a super steady mode as well, and if I go to settings here, you'll notice, you can add the grid lines. There's a lot of feature set in here. I'm not seeing any 60 fps going on here, though, when it comes to the UHD.
So not the sweetest thing there on the front. You can do full HD as well in the video settings as well. So I'm going to be taking a closer look at the camera before the full review. I will be giving you samples and stuff like that. So don't worry about that now.
Next up this one actually has expandable memory. That's a pretty cool thing as well. You can see that baby blue. You know sim card tray right there, micro SD card slot for a sim as well, and you could do dual sim on here. Furthermore, you can see it right there.
It says sim 2, micro SD, so really it depends on what you want to put there, and then you can go ahead and turn it around. You'll see volume markers are on the right here: power button in a pretty good location. It's not too high. I think most people should be able to reach it. I notice the fingerprint.
You have to press it down a little harder than a more premium Samsung phone, but once you do, it goes in watch. If I just kind of tap it like that, it doesn't do anything. I mean that could be the screen protector, but I feel like I got to press that a little harder now on the bottom you'll see we do have a headphone jack, something you're, also not going to find a lot of other phones, USB fast charging and Samsung finally put some dual speakers on the a72 and a52 line this year before it was just firing out the bottom speaker on these older phones, which were plenty loud, but still not giving you the loudest sound Samsung switched to more of a matte texture back on the rear of the a72. If you look at the a71 here, a more glossy interstellar kind of glow looking thing over here, I kind of like the look of the shininess of the a71, but this is more practical. It's a more everyday phone you're not going to see too much dirt marks.
It'll stay clean all the time, so it's a good choice. I think a very practical choice by Samsung to put more of a plastic like not as dirty looking build and around the camera. You also have that same plastic texture, because around the camera you can get a lot of smudges and nastiness if you put like a shiny glass material like the old a71 had, and they fixed that too, so very clean looking phone and the galaxy a72 does feature a 5 000 William hour battery. So this phone right here is not messing around when it comes to its battery size. I'm going to be testing this and seeing how well it actually does do in the real world.
But that's one of the pros over the a52 is that it does have a larger battery so very nice on the galaxy, a 72- and I believe this comes with the snapdragon 720 g chipset. Let's take a look, oh actually, this one has a 732 g in it. So my mistake on that one we do have arena 618, and it is an outscore CPU. If I go over here to device settings, you'll see a total ram of six gigs on this one. You can get it with up to eight gigs.
I believe that's going to be for the 5g version. Correct me, if I'm wrong, so what you're getting with the a72 over the a52 is mostly a bigger battery and a slightly bigger screen here and a 732. Some a52s come with the 7 20 g chipset. So you might get a little better performance here on the a72, but one of the strong selling points is Samsung's ecosystem. Here their software is definitely more refined than some competition, not all of it, but some of it.
It's got more features than a lot of it, and you can use galaxy watches with this Galaxy Buds. So this is kind of like your entryway into the galaxy ecosystem. If you're not willing to pay like a thousand bucks for one of those, more premium phones or even 800 700, you just want something. A little cheaper, a72 is going to be one of the largest phones. You can get in that cheaper range notice.
I say cheaper because it's not the cheapest does a 72 852 are not the cheapest. There's like 832 a 42. Those are even cheaper than this one notice. I say cheaper, not the cheapest, because there are things like the a32 to a42 even cheaper, if this is a little too high for you still. So let's take a look at the a72 next to the a71, so you can see a little thicker a little heavier looking more squared.
So if you want more of a flat, looking feel you'll, definitely like the a72 more. This has more of a curvy feel, even though there's a flat display on a 71, the 872, just more of a boxy square, feel if you like that, then over here we do have the galaxy s21 plus more premium. I just wanted to show this to showcase how similar the actual look of the camera. The overall you know build this. It just looks like a premium phone and again with that a 52 one more time you can see identical just a slightly bigger battery, slightly bigger display a little of a bigger body.
So, overall, my first impressions are it's just a perfect, bigger version of an a52. So a nice update to the a71, giving you cleaner back. You know more up-to-date software things like that, so definitely a nice value phone here in the a72 I mean think about all you're getting versus some competitors, giving you much smaller screens like the iPhone SE. For example, you might get a better processor, but you're not getting a big display, you're, not getting a quad camera system, you're, not getting OLED. So there are a lot of value advantages here for this phone.
Let me know which comparisons you want to see: speed test things like that camera review things like that, let me know down below, and I'll catch you on the next episode. Thank you very much for watching nick here, helping you to master your technology be sure to be well and if you have an a72 share your experience with the community down below I'll catch you all in the next one. Peace.
