Samsung Galaxy A71 In 2021! (Still Worth Buying?) (Review)

Well everyone lets's go ahead and do another worth it video, I guess in 2021 of the Samsung Galaxy a71 now this is one of those phones that was one of the most popular a series of devices last year and rightfully, so it brought a lot to the table. It has a lot of capability and I do think for a phone like the galaxy a71 and I think we just got the a72 not too long ago. This is still a very premium good feeling, a series budget tier device, in my opinion. Now, if you want to buy one of these things, links will be down in the description you can get it for the cheapest prices that I find on Amazon, and you can help support the channel. At the same time now, starting off with the front of the a71, you can see that we do have that ginormous 6.7 inch. Super AMOLED plus display it's a 1080p panel.

So it isn't like a crazy high resolution panel, but it isn't a bad panel for a budget to your phone. You have to remember if you are familiar with a series from Samsung. It is their budget tier offering you have their galaxy notes and their galaxy s, series which are their top tier phones. Actually, the galaxy folds are, and the z, flips and stuff, but the series are their bottom tier. I guess budget to your phones.

They still have a lot of features, though, that the more expensive models don't have things like micro SD card slots, which is something the a71 has, which is a know, really cool feature now with the a71. You do get that beautiful display, like I said, hole, punch display so a little of bezel around it, but it really isn't that big of a deal. It is a big phone, though. So keep that in mind. You have USB type c port on the bottom headphone jack on this phone as well on the back.

You do have that plastic frame, so it isn't like a glass back, but it still feels pretty decent. I said this last year too, like it doesn't feel that bad, I think the first time I unboxed it. I actually did think it was a glass back, but it's definitely plastic for sure, and then you have that camera setup as well, which is very interesting I'll talk about that in a second but as I mentioned for a budget tier phone, this is one of Samsung's best or top-tier budget, your phones, they have like the a11s, they have the a21, they the 41 z50 ones and all those other ones- and this one is, I guess, the higher end model of those, and I think it definitely has a lot of character. It kind of seems something like a galaxy s21 plus, although it doesn't feel as premium, and it definitely isn't as good of a phone as that it kind of gives the aura that it's one of those phones which I think is really cool. Now I did hit on the camera.

So let's go into more details. You have somewhat of a quadruple camera setup and I say somewhat I'll get into more details in a second, so you have a 64 megapixel, wide-angle lens, a 12 megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 5 megapixel macro lens and then a 5 megapixel depth. Sensor. Now you do have the ability of doing 4k videos on it, which is perfect, and I am a person who actually I don't really like Samsung software too much, but I love their camera software because there are so many features built in it still is pretty you know, bloat and all that stuff, but I actually do like Samsung software a lot there's a lot of capability with this specific software, and you have a lot of different things you can do with it.4K 30 is okay. I would have loved to see 4k 60 on this phone, but you also do get 4k 30 on the front as well with that 32 megapixel front facing camera, and I think that is a really awesome thing for this phone again having that type of capability on a phone like this, that's kind of like a budget phone is actually really cool, and I think the overall front and back camera setup you know combined, are actually a pro.

I think it's actually a pretty decent thing about this phone, but again, if you're trying to take it up a notch and trying to do 4k60 you're not going to have it, but I think the features behind this device are really nice, and I think, having a camera like this overall is a positive experience. Furthermore, I really love Samsung. Furthermore, I hate I don't like their software too much, but I will say their camera. Software is one of the better things about their whole entire software experience they just throw in a bunch of different features in there, and that is something I can definitely appreciate from Samsung. So in terms of the galaxy a71, I actually do think the camera software and even the camera quality, is actually pretty good for a budget to your phone.

Now I will say some other perfect things about this phone or another. Perfect thing about this phone is the battery life. This thing has a massive 4500 William hour battery and to kind of give you some more perspective. This thing has a fairly low end: chipset, it isn't extremely low end, but it is not like the 888 or 865 from snapdragon or Qualcomm. It doesn't have a crazy 120 hertz high refresh rate with a high resolution display.

So it's already kind of saving some battery in that standpoint, and then you throw in a humongous battery size inside it. That is a massive cape. That is just one of the best things about this phone. For sure, I will say, the camera is decent, but the battery life on this phone is one of the biggest assets, and it has a bigger battery than a lot of other phones that are coming out right now too, and the phones that are way more expensive than it. I mean the iPhone 12 Pro.

This thing has a bigger battery than the iPhone 12 Pro max, which is pretty crazy. So this thing's battery life is going to last you for a very long amount of time, really, no matter what you throw at it, it's going to be able to handle it, and that is one of my favorite things about this phone. Now, on the flip side, one of my least favorite things about this phone is the software and the software longevity. So it started off with android 10. I guess it got android 11 at this point, but I don't know Samsung's a series devices line up that well, and I know one thing for sure that the series of devices tend to get the later end of software updates.

They focus more on the more expensive models rightfully so. But if you get a series like, I think, you're getting that I think that's all the software updates this thing's getting. I don't think it's getting winning by four and if it does that's awesome, but that is one of the sadder things about Samsung. You know they drop a phone, but they don't really support it for a super long amount of time for there a series of devices. They've really switched that over for their s and their note series which I think is really, really cool on their fold series as well, but I really do hope they do that for there a series.

I think once they do that and once they bring in stock android, that is going to change the game for sure, especially for a manufacturer. Like Samsung my goal, my great phone, like my best phone in my head, is the Samsung Galaxy like note, 20, ultra or a galaxy s 21, plus with one plus software with oxygen OS. That's like my favorite thing and if the series ever gets it that'd be awesome as well. So in terms of that that covers up both the worst thing and the best thing about this phone. Now, it's going to end off with the performance.

This thing has the Qualcomm snapdragon 730 chipsets inside it arena 618 GPU and two different models: a six gig ram model and an eight gig of ram model. Now I did get the six gig remodel. I think, and it was a pretty good performing phone too, like I've mentioned before having a phone with this type of experience. You already know what you're getting into you know: you're, not expecting galaxy s20 performance. You know at that time, which is when I got it: you're not expecting s20, ultra you're not expecting iPhone 11 Pro max or anything like that, you're expecting somewhat like a Google Pixel, 4a type of experience- and I will say I think the Pixel 4a is a smoother device, but this thing isn't that bad of a performing phone.

Furthermore, you know, I think, over time like after using this thing for years and once it gets outdated, then it's probably going to be a little of a different experience, but as of right now I had a really decent experience with it. I think it's actually pretty good for a majority of tasks, you're going to do and even taking it up to like heavier intensive games. I think this thing actually handles it perfectly fine. Now I do think there's going to be more problems with the ram management portion, especially if you get the six gigabyte model, because this thing, especially the software demands, so many resources. You know at all times you can be using like a Pixel 4a with the same amount of ram.

It would be getting better ram management from the Pixel 4a, because the software is more optimized on something like a galaxy a51 or the a71 in this case, you're going to be getting good performance for sure, but you will always keep that in the back your mind that it could have been so much better if the software was more optimized for the specific device they are essentially just taking their software from their most premium, most heavy-duty phones and just throwing it on there a series of devices too, and I don't think it's anymore optimized on the s21s or anything like that, but for sure, on a phone that doesn't have the latest chipset, that's kind of has the lower amount of ram for the whole entire series, you're, not getting the most that you can from this phone. So I will tell you, I think it's a good performing phone for the price tag. I would have expected more, though, from a manufacturer from Samsung and hopefully within the next two three years. They can go ahead and switch that whole entire stigma that they have and make a phone. That's more stock, android and, and hopefully they can make a perfect budget to your phone.

That's just like universally known and beloved, something like a Pixel 4a in my opinion. So in terms of that that pretty much covers it up there now to kind of sum up this video and to answer the question: should you go and buy a Samsung Galaxy a71 in 2021? Well, this is pretty much. What I'll tell you. I think the galaxy a71 if you're in the market, I would say, go for it. You know.

I think this is a very solid phone. It really doesn't excel in anywhere except the battery life, but I think even that is like totally okay. This is a very solid phone for sure, you're going to have a perfect experience with it. It's definitely not perfect. You know, I do think you know the performance isn't extremely great.

I do think having the micro SD card slot, though, is an amazing thing about this phone. I love the fingerprint sensor on this phone under the display. Furthermore, I think the camera setup on this thing actually isn't that bad, and that was one of the areas I really was kind of freaked out about the battery life. The camera wasn't going to be that good, but it actually, you know, is, for the most part the display on it is actually pretty decent. The software, on the other hand, just is one of those things that I'm not a huge fan of, and if Samsung can just get the software right, I think the rest of their phone lineup is going to fall into place.

That is the one area that, if Samsung can just focus in on they would just kill it. In my opinion, unfortunately, that isn't quite the case, I guess we'll see what happens in the future, but as of right now they are focusing in on their main series of devices their as series. Their note series increasing the software longevity of those, and then I think, sooner than later, we'll actually get some stock android coming out to some phones in the future, probably not right now, but I think the Galaxy S7 one is worth it for the most part. But if you can spend a little more money, I would recommend buying something like a pixel 5. If you want to spend the same, get a Pixel 4a, but I think the Google Pixel 5 is one of those phones that you can buy right now and still use for years and years from now.

You know the software is great. The cameras are great, it's a very good phone in general, and I really do think that is probably the better way to go for some people, but I think the 871 is still a solid phone for sure for the most part.
