Samsung Galaxy A51 5G unboxing and review

Hello and welcome to another episode of unboxing with Paul. Today I bring you the Samsung Galaxy a51, Samsung's m3 level, 5g phone. Let's take a look released in April 2020. This phone entered a rough market. Let's see if it made a good first impression. Let's put the phone inside for right now, um in the box, we got a sim card, as this is a macho by T-Mobile phone.

We also get our complimentary USB-C to USB-C cable, and it seems to be that the sim ejector tool is all the way at the bottom of the box and hiding, and we also get Samsung's adaptive fast charging block um. That is supposed to be rated for what is it five volts at two amps, so a 10 watt charger could have been a lot better Samsung um for a split. Second, I was thinking that they really took this whole um, the environmentally friendly thing to heart, um, and I thought they didn't include any terms and conditions um, but they did just sneakily tuck away at the top of the box and uh. Of course, you to get your obligatory um welcome, guide reference guide, return, editions all that suggests now the phone itself. Um is a really nice looking phone um, it's just it looks great.

I believe Samsung calls this um prism, q, black um and rightfully so as it is quite iridescent, it is very, very reflective um, just the gorgeous looking phone um it has. It has a good feel to it. It doesn't you know it feels great. Furthermore, it doesn't feel heavy, it doesn't feel light. Um comes in 187 grams for my non-metric friends, 6.6 ounces, um and again can be just? Can we just take a second to really appreciate that color, very, very good? Looking and since we're back here already, let's go ahead and look at our impressive camera array. We do have a 48 megapixel, main camera uh, a 12, megapixel, ultra-wide angle, camera, a 5, megapixel macro camera and a 5 megapixel depth camera as well as led flash and up on the front.

We are rocking a 1080 by 2400 six and a half inch super AMOLED display with corning gorilla, glass 3. Now that is impressive, and that brings us up to a 405 PPI density um, which is again quite impressive for a budget smartphone since we're up front um, let's go ahead and talk about our selfie camera, which is also very, very nice. It has this little um like little silver ring around it um. I don't know if you guys can see that very well, probably uh once again, rapid, fully it'll look a lot better um, it's just a very impressive camera. It's a 32 megapixel camera that is able to record 4k video at 30 frames per second, so we're going to see how good that is as well um and again, we have that in blue of a fingerprint scanner um, because again we don't have a fingerprint scanner here in this phone, so we have facial recognition instead and just from the moment you get into the phone um it just immediately screams.

Look at me pick me up um, it's its very sharp! It's its a very dynamic display! It's really nice! Furthermore, it's really nice! Looking phone uh once you get into it! It's nicely laid out, obviously, with you being able to move things around to your liking, to your heart's content. Nothing is fixed permanently, which is great um. Unfortunately, there is no way to get away from um that typical Samsung bloatware that comes installed with a lot of their phones. Furthermore, we do get the usual metro by T-Mobile blower again, as this is a metro by T-Mobile phone. However, I am very happy to inform that we are done with Bixby um or at least in this phone.

There is no Bixby president. Instead, we get Samsung daily, and I believe this just uh it brings you updates with the latest news, entertainment just one swipe away. Um you know- and here you can just click on what in particular you're um interested in. Like me, I don't like instant games or none of that stuff I don't like Spotify or that you know probably just covet, updates um. So you can choose what you would like to get um you know.

Usually they are pre-selected. I was just trying to filter some of them out. I don't use Samsung pay. You know I don't use a lot of that stuff. Um I mean honestly.

These are all garbage news networks. However, um yeah, I don't really use a lot of that Samsung stuff. So, okay, let's go, and I wish you were able to customize it a little better um. You know with like your own things that you would like uh. Like add stuff, that is not already pre-designated um, but it's its certainly much, much better than big screen and I will have this over Bixby um.

So yeah, that's nice, and I feel like it's not like in your face. I don't know for some reason I felt like Bixby was really in your face. All the time like everything would default to Bixby. For some reason you would always end up in Bixby um, but that's not the case here doesn't feel like it's pushed or shoved on you in any shape. Where form.

Well boy was I wrong, so it turns out that you do still have Bixby on this phone. To my dismay, um on the right side, you is not in your face as much. However, it seems to be there whenever you press the power button instead of the phone just automatically it's turning off. You do get Bixby, and you have to update it on the right side. You are able to turn off the phone.

I think it is uh the power button volume up, or I think the power button volume down. You hold them, and then it'll give you options, either power off to restart or go into emergency mode uh. But yes, unfortunately, Bixby is still very, very much here. Let's hold it yeah it's its. Definitely here um! I know our camera is going to look great, so let's go ahead and just hold that off for a second, and before we dive into that, we must mention the specs and what exactly we're working with here, and I believe we should have 128 gigabytes in the storage.

This one in particular only has six gigabytes on of ram. As you are able to get this with eight gigabytes in the international markets. We also get an outscore processor with six efficiency cords clocked in at one point, gigahertz and two power cores coming in at 2.2 gigahertz to handle more power, intensive tasks. We also happen to get dual-band: Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth, 5.0 NFC, even FM radio uh. However, our USB is still at 2.0, but the big thing here is 5g connectivity, obviously um, unfortunately, I won't be able to you know, run a speed test for you guys and um. Sorry, however, just take my word for it.

It's pretty fast or you can. You know, look up other people's speed tests as they are pretty fast now, the phone itself. They again, they went with a great design um they kept the Freddie clean for the most part on the left side, it's again pretty clean, not much on it, except for an antenna band right up here and then at the very top of the phone. We got our sim forward, slash SD card tray along with another antenna band and a pinhole microphone on the right side of the phone. We got another antenna band up at the top, followed by our volume marker and our power button.

Now this facing up the wall number one, why would you put the power button right next to the volume rocker number two? Why wouldn't you make it textured and number three? Why would you put it on the same side? Did I mention that already okay? Well, why would you put that on the same side in case I didn't um, but nonetheless it's there now all the way at the bottom, we have uh what looks to be a pretty nice setup. We have dual antenna bands at the bottom. We have a headphone jack. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we still happen to have a headphone jack today, in the day and age of the 5g, Samsung has chosen to keep the headphone jack a good move on their part, our USB, which is unfortunately, a 2.0, another pinhole microphone and finally, our speaker grille. It will be interesting to see if- and I should look this up your hand, but it'll be interesting to see if this is the only speaker, grille or if the earpiece up here.

Also doubles as an additional speaker, because I can very easily see myself covering this up, as I am holding it to play around or the game or just to watch normal video. But again just it's a great looking phone. I love it and again that that little silver ring around there. We go around the camera at the top. There we go, you can see it.

I love that and of course, facial recognition works super well, oh, what of course, it wouldn't recognize me, as I am trying to show it off no face detector. What do you mean no face detective? It's me jeez. I made me, look awful for a second there. Of course, I am beyond curious um to find out what kind of geeky branch scores we're going to get here, I'm pretty sure I saw them already, but I you know, I see scores all the time and I see numbers all the time that I can't for the life of me. Remember.

You know how well how poorly this does. You know like compared to other phones, especially in this price range, or you know a little lower a little higher. Furthermore, you know again, especially because six of those cores are efficiency, cores clocked in at one point, basically 1.8 gigahertz and the other two are the power cores, the big heavy muscly cores that are going to come in at 2.21 gigahertz. So let's go ahead and find out. I will be right back with you guys as soon as this is over, and we're done.

Let's go ahead and find out. We got a 674 on the single core and 1861. Now again, I'm not really too familiar with these. I haven't, you know dealt with these in a long time, but I'm pretty sure that 674 is pretty good in comparison to. I think, like a 180, something or 200 that we got for the galaxy 821 man, that phone did terribly um.

So let's go ahead and um, let's see 674 compared to the eight compared to basically 900 and the OnePlus 8 uh, not bad, not bad at all and keep in mind it's like the flagship phone. You know, like that's, pretty good galaxy s20 ultra 800 versus our 600. That's not bad! We are that's not bad at all. Um! That's not bad! So at least we're further ahead than the galaxy a2 a71, which I know. I would expect we're we're more right along the Xiaomi mi 90 pro yep 674 654 yeah a little better than that and, of course, the multi-core 1861 versus 3272 on the OnePlus 8.

And what is it? What was it 1861 1848 on the Xiaomi Poco phone? Is it 1861 wow? The mi9t pro did way better than that some multicore? Okay, that's to be expected, but that's not bad um. So that's! That's not bad! That's not bad at all with those six efficiency cores and our six gigs of ram. So this is what video on YouTube looks like on the gods, and it absolutely does sound like this is the only speaker here and then, when you cover it up, you can't hear anything else, and it is. The quality is turned all the way up to 1080p um. It's a nice viewing experience, especially with that ammo screen.

The video around the camera is really nice. It doesn't the store, it doesn't get dark or anything like that. It's nice to see it's a little on the softer side. That's okay, very nice video. So I just wanted to show what kind of um camera quality we can get with the Samsung Galaxy a51 um.

I chose to take pictures of an iPhone 11. I mean sorry as of an iPhone 12 and a blue. As I chose. I can't even talk that bit. I chose an iPhone 12 in blue as my subject as I thought.

No, no! No! No! No! What oh, anyway, as I thought it would be, a good representation of color, especially with how deep and blue it is um, but I'm not sure what that was. Um, apparently there's a bunch of different modes. Um I mean none of which really I'm so has. What is that, like a live focus mode um, so it has live, focus mode and um. We should also be able to what is it seeing an optimizer on oh wow, and then oh? Okay, that's for the wide angle.

You can see your finger right on there um. Let's go ahead and find out how video sounds on this thing. Um we're just gonna, do normal video, 16x9 um, and then this has a function called super steady, which I love um. So here like it's its just it's hard to describe like it's. It's steady trust me uh, but again, let's go ahead and record video.

This is a video on the Samsung Galaxy a21 um, just to see how well or how poorly this phone does. Um I mean. I know it's going to do fairly. Well, um! Let's go ahead and try to zoom a little. Give me a second okay.

So I guess you can do that um! You can't! Let's see you can zoom if super steady is off so okay, that is great soon. I don't know how useful that is, but it's great soon, let's go ahead and take a zoomed out video. Then let's try to see if it'll, let us zoom in, and then I'll try to play this back for you guys to see how well how poor this looks. Oh yeah, we were supposed to be recording we're supposed to be recording the iPhone 11. I mean the 12.

Why don't you call it 11? Maybe because I have an 11 but yeah we'll see how this looks if there are other things you'd like to see featured on my channel, go ahead and drop a comment as always thanks for watching you.
