Samsung Galaxy A22 4G LTE vs. A22 5G Comparison! Very Different Phones...

What's going on guys, my name is wade with tech daily and in this video we're going to be comparing the two different Samsung Galaxy, a22 smartphones, the 822 4g LTE and the a22 5g. Now this is a comparison that a ton of you guys have been asking for which, if you don't know anything about these phones might sound kind of strange, since seemingly they should be the same basic devices just with different network support, but that's simply not the case at all. In fact, these two a22s are so different from their size to their specs to their features. There's a ton of things to consider here, and I'm going to go over everything in this video. So you know exactly what sets these phones apart if you're considering either one there's, definitely a lot to talk about here, so I won't waste any more time. Let's just go ahead and get right into it and see how these phones compare to one another to kick things off.

Let's talk about pricing and availability now, fortunately, this is pretty straightforward. Both these a22s retail for around 230 dollars, there might be a 10 or 20 price discrepancies, either way depending on where you live and where you get the phones from, but, generally speaking, there's not a huge difference between the two. So that's nice at least the downside is that these phones aren't necessarily available everywhere. Depending on where you live. You might only see one or the other in stores or online, but you can get international unlocked versions of both from various retailers.

If you really want one in particular, just make sure you know what you're buying these phones are explicitly called: the a22 4g LTE and the a22 5g. They have different model numbers, different boxes and, like I said, a lot of different specs and features which I'll go over here. So when you do your shopping, if you're looking for either one just double check to make sure it's the correct device and if you're interested I'll have some links down below in the video description to where you can get both these phones at their cheapest current prices physically, I think you can already tell that these phones differ both in size and design. The a22 4g is obviously the smaller device. It's a 6.4 inch phone, that's the screen size, while the a22 5g comes in at 6.6 inches. Overall, the a22 5g is taller wider and in the hand I find the a22 4g to be rather comfortable.

Actually, by comparison, it's one of the smallest. A series phones available this year actually and reaching all the corners and edges is a bit easier, though, on the flip side, getting such a large display for so cheap with the a225g is also kind of nice up front. You might also notice that, for whatever reason, the selfie camera and black bezels bordering the screens differ slightly too. The a22 4g has an u-shaped camera cut out. The 5g has the wider v-shaped notch across the bottom and along the sides.

The a225g also has thicker borders, which contribute to a slightly lower screen to body ratio and only enhance the already larger form factor. All in all, I like the a22 4g for looking strictly at its physical traits overall size, but the differences here aren't too important and just to quickly mention around back. Both devices are made of plastic. The a22 4g has a shiny glossy finish. The a22 5g is a smooth matte finish.

If you don't like fingerprints, obviously the matte is the way to go, but there's no other advantages here, one way or another: no water resistance or IP ratings on either no wireless charging, no other real design, differences or benefits. The metal like frames differ slightly. I guess, but they're, both relatively flat phones with slightly curved edges, no real taper or infinity display, or anything else like that. At a glance, the housing and materials here are pretty close. Taking a look around at everything else.

On the left side, both phones have a sim and SD card slot on the right. There's similar volume buttons and power buttons, which both double as fingerprint sensors down below the headphone jack, is there on both alongside the USB-C port for charging and single speaker setup, and around back. You might not have noticed at first, but there's actually different camera setups. Here too, the a22 4g offers four lenses. The 5g has three, and I'll talk more about all that towards the end of the video, but jumping back to the speakers, while the little speaker real hole, design is different for whatever reason the outlaw listening experience on both phones is about the same.

Just the single downward firing speaker on each they're, both loud enough clear. I don't think there's much of a difference and here's a sound sample, so you can compare for yourself as far as the fingerprint, setups and unlocking speeds, the feel and placement are identical on both phones and I personally really like the power button, combo setup to me. I haven't experienced much of a difference with speed or accuracy one way or another, and I suspect it's about the same hardware anyway. Both these phones have fast fingerprint sensors that require just the lightest of touches to unlock the phones, and I've had no issues with face unlock. It's kind of the same story.

I think speed wise, there's, no real advantage and they kind of go back and forth as to which gets into the phone. First, we're also talking like a fraction of a second difference. If there even is one so no big deal, the unlocking and biometrics here with these phones to me seem like they're about the same okay. So up to this point, the only thing that's really been different between these two a22s has been the size of the devices, but from this point forward, we're talking about the actual display, specs, the internal components and performance and even the camera setups and picture samples. All this stuff is drastically different between these two phones and really these are the most important elements anyway.

So let's get right into it. First off with the displays the smaller 6.4-inch screen on the a22 4g, it's actually a super AMOLED panel on the a22 5g you get a TFT lcd. So that's difference number one with the resolutions. The a22 4g offers a 1560 by 720 display that packs in just 274 pixels per inch, while the a22 5g is a full 2400 by 1080 screen at 399 pixels per inch. So with all this, you have a few things to consider.

The AMOLED display on the a224g, I think, is the better option. If you care about bold, colors, deep blacks and a more saturated look, it also supports HDR. It gets quite a bit brighter at 600 nits and to me having an AMOLED display on a phone at this price point sort of bumps up the overall value. However, you can't ignore the fact that it's still just a 720 resolution screen and if detail and clarity and pixel peeping is your thing. This is where the a22 5g has a little of an advantage from a normal viewing distance.

You may not notice any difference in sharpness, but, as you start to look closer, you can see the a22 5g is very obviously the sharper looking screen, especially with text. It's kind of a shame we're stuck having to choose between a 720, AMOLED display or 1080 LCD. To me, though, I prefer the AMOLED even at a lower resolution. So that's my choice, but I can sort of see an argument either way now. Fortunately, there's one display element that is the same between the two phones and that's the 90 hertz refresh rate.

Both these phones offer that enhanced motion smoothing and to me this is a great addition for this sub 300 price point. The phones feel equally fast and snappy ultra responsive, and it's a feature. I really can't live without anymore. It's nice that you don't have to choose here. It's one less thing to worry about, and I think the overall user experience is enhanced with that 90 hertz mode enabled, but, like I said, you'll still need to consider the other elements of the viewing experience, AMOLED versus LCD, 720 versus 1080 and kind of figure out what you prefer inside.

These two phones are powered by very different processors, but the performance results might not be exactly what you expect. The a224g gets the MediaTek hello g80, while the a22 5g has the MediaTek density 705g and, objectively speaking, the a22 5g gets the newer, faster, more powerful chipset, that's confirmed by the geek bench scores. Of course. Here are those values, so you can sort of compare the other element worth considering here is both my phones have six gigs of ram inside, so that sort of evens things out a bit more and allows us to focus mostly on processor speeds. Also, on the software side of things, both phones are already running, the latest android and one UI core updates, but in a real world side-by-side test here, the difference to me just isn't as drastic as I would have expected.

Now, yes, more often than not the more powerful a22 5g will at least launch and load an app faster. The default android, apps and Samsung animations and initial load screens all seem to be quicker. However, there are instances with web pages, for example, or YouTube videos or scrolling or app refreshing stuff, like that, where the a22 4g either isn't that far behind at all at least keeps pace with or in some cases beats the 5g in speed. While I figured there would be a noticeable and consistent speed and performance benefit with the a22 5g. That just doesn't seem like it's the case every time, and I'm not exactly sure what to attribute that to especially considering that the geek bench scores at least hinted at a more substantial difference.

Percentage-Wise to me, this is both an indication that maybe the a22 4g performs surprisingly well by comparison, and maybe the a225g, with its supposedly better newer, MediaTek chipset. Isn't that much better? In the end, I think out of everything so far, this is what was most surprising to me also with the battery capacities. This is the same: we're working with 5 000 Williams on both really good-sized batteries in general. I think for phones like these, considering the mid-range sort of specs they're both day and a half smartphone under normal usage, but I know there's various battery draining elements to consider. Obviously AMOLED versus LCD resolution processor, but I personally haven't found that either device has any real advantage with longevity with the charging speeds.

It's the same here too, just 15 watt support on both no wireless charging, like I said no other battery or charging features. Everything here from what I experienced at least is basically the same. Finally, let's talk about the camera setup and to me beyond anything else. This was the single most surprising difference. I found between these two phones.

First off the specs, the a22 4g actually has a quad lens setup, while the a22 5g offers three lenses, both phones have seemingly the same 48 megapixel main lens and 2 megapixel depth sensor, but there's an 8 megapixel ultra-wide on the 4g versus a 5 megapixel ultrawide on the 5g and that extra fourth lens is a macro shooter on the a224g, which may or may not be particularly useful, but it's there. Also. The a224g has a 13 megapixel selfie camera, while the 5g has an 8 megapixel selfie camera. So that's another sort of random difference inside the camera. App there's not a lot.

That's different here, obviously macro mode on the a22 4g and the random food filter thrown in they both have 48 megapixel high detailed shooting modes for pictures, though the a22 5g can shoot 2k video, while the 4g tops out at 1080. On the flip side, the a22 4g offers optical image stabilization, while the 5g does not all in all, there's nothing too important here with the shooting modes and settings. The real difference is when you actually shoot some pictures and compare them side by side, and I'll just be up front here and say that in every instance I came across the a22 4g on the left produces the significantly better result. With the selfie cameras to start, the a224g offers a brighter more colorful, more accurate, looking shot, it's noticeably better with white balance, significantly better skin tone, no over the top smoothing, much more detail, just a way better result from start to finish, and if I'm taking any kind of selfie picture, whether it be regular or in portrait mode, I'm going to be grabbing the a22 4g every time. The difference to me is just that noticeable with the rear lens.

It's almost the same story, but I think, actually to an even greater degree. Overall, the a224g once again offers a brighter shot, far better white balance. There's not that blue-green tint, like on the a22 5g, there's better skin tone way more detail. You can, for example, see strands of my hair on the a22 4g pictures that get completely lost on the a22 5g. It's just absolutely crazy to me how different these shots come out and not different in their own unique ways like some phones just different in the sense that the a225g is flat out worse.

I think, out of everything that these two phones have to offer. This is what surprised me the more than anything else. So let me sum up this comparison by saying, I think it's truly bizarre. The way Samsung has set up all there a series phones this year, while there used to be sort of a consistent numbering system with very obvious feature, set differences that made sense this year, they're just all over the place, and these two phones are a prime example of the mess they've sort of made. With this lineup, the a22, 4g and a225g.

Don't just differ in their network capabilities. They're completely different phones entirely and what's most surprising, is that, while you might assume the a22 5g is the better overall option. I actually don't think that's the case. The a22 4g has an AMOLED display with a better screen to body ratio and, arguably more comfortable form factor, a better camera setup too, with significantly better real-world shooting results and ninety percent of all the other specs and features that the a225d offers the a224g has all for basically the same price. The one thing that is worse on the 822 4g, the internal specs.

It's not that it's that much worse by comparison to me, I'd much rather snag the a22 4g. I think it's just the better, more well-rounded device which is kind of surprising, but what do you guys think I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments down below? Of course, hopefully you guys did enjoy this video, though, be sure to follow tech daily on Twitter and subscribe to the tech daily YouTube channel.
