Samsung Galaxy A20 Review - Amazing Budget Android Phone $160-$200

What's going on guys to CTA pride back here again today, I'm going to be taking a look at another awesome, little budget prepaid or no contract phone, as some people like to call them that I recently picked up. This is the Samsung Galaxy 820 and the version I have here is actually the boost. Mobile version for the United States I was able to pick this up for $179 from my local Walmart on Boost Mobile's website, they're $1.99, but you can buy the unlocked version on Amazon for 160 dollars and, if you're going with the unlocked version, there's a few different colors to choose from. Unfortunately, the boost mobile version that I have here is the black version. I was really hoping to pick up the red, but you can get it in black red peach or blue inside the box. You're, obviously going to receive the Galaxy 820 smartphone, USB, type-c, cable for syncing and charging and a 15 watt fast charger, because the 820 does support fast charging.

Taking a look at the rear of the device reveals dual cameras, LED flash and a fingerprint sensor to tell you the truth. This fingerprint sensor works well for the price of this phone. It's pretty fast to unlock everything and as for the dual cameras, there's one 13 megapixels and one 5 megapixel ultra-wide camera. Both cameras will shoot 1080p, 30fps video and the pictures that come out of this thing are absolutely amazing. For a budget phone moving around to the bottom of the device, we still have a headphone jack, which is a big plus for a lot of people, USB type-c for charging in sync the microphone and our single speaker output.

Even though this has a single speaker in it, this thing does get pretty loud, and it sounds great. On the right-hand side, we have our power button and volume rocker moving over to the left. We have our SIM tray, / SD card slot. Now this will support up to a 512 gigabyte SD card I only had an extra 256 lying around, and it works fine in here recently I did a review on the new galaxy 810 II. Now this is my favorite budget, smartphone $99 from boost mobile, Metro and I, believe you can get it from T-Mobile.

The 8na is absolutely the best a hundred dollar smartphone that I've ever messed around with, but, as you can see, the 820 has a much bigger screen. We also have a faster CPU and more RAM. Of course, it's gonna cost anywhere from 60 to $100 more depending on where you buy it. But if you were looking for something with a bigger screen and more RAM I think that a 20 is a great choice and speaking of the screen on the galaxy 820, it's actually bigger than the s10 screen. Now the s10 plus is around the same exact size, but the 820 does use a Super AMOLED display, which looks absolutely amazing.

But you got to keep in mind that the galaxy s 10 is a much more expensive phone, it's more feature-rich, much more powerful and just an overall, better device, and the price definitely reflects that. So let's go ahead and go over the specs of the galaxy 820 for the CPU, It's using the Enos 78 85 listed with the 78-84, but I believe the 78 85 is a higher clocked CPU. It's an outscore chip to a 73 course at 1.6 gigahertz and six 853 s at 1.35. For the GPU we have the Mallet G 71 MP 2, it's a dual-core GPU up to 720 megahertz, 3, gigabytes of lpddr4 RAM for the display. We have that 6.4 inch, Super AMOLED at 720 by 1560 I know some people are gonna, be upset that the screen isn't even running at 1080p, but I have to say that it looks absolutely amazing that Super AMOLED display just makes this thing pop. As for storage, 32, gigabytes of internal storage, plus that micro SD card slot is good up to a 512 gigabyte card, 802 11 ABG and an AC Wi-Fi.

So we do pick up that 5, gigahertz Network and the chip in here is really fast. We also get Bluetooth, 5.0 and NFC. Dual rear cameras, like I mentioned one is 13 megapixels and the other is 5 megapixels. But it's set to ultra-wide front 8 megapixel selfie camera. All of these cams look perfect.

They do shoot.1080P 30fps, an on user replaceable, four thousand William hour battery with 15 watt, quick charging capabilities and Samsung claims, 13 hours of web browsing or 31 hours of talk time and finally, the operating system. It's running Android 9.0 out of the box, along with Samsung's one UI, the overall user experience has been great on this phone I've installed a ton of apps and I want to test a bunch of stuff here, but bro we'll just go into google play like I said this is running Android 9.0 everything's been really smooth and if you want to go ahead and stream from Hulu HBO, Netflix YouTube you're going to have no trouble at all now. I have this set to night mode, because I really like the way the black looks, but you can always turn this off and get the white menu logos now. I personally, don't use Samsung, Bixby, but I know a lot of people out there enjoy using it, and it is included with the galaxy 820. So if that's something you're into it is included on this phone.

So, like usual in this video I'm going to run a few benchmarks. I also want to test out this camera we'll get into some native Android gaming and then finally, we'll wrap it up with a little of emulation. I usually do video playback testing, but it's going to work. Fine on here, I've tested, Netflix and YouTube I haven't had any issues at all, so we're going to skip that for this one. Moving over to a few benchmarks.

First up we have Geek bench for single core 1325 multi 41 85 I also wanted to compare this to the a-10 II and the Galaxy S 10 on the a-10 to eat single core 11:58 multi 3584 for the s 10 single 3489, multi, 10000 881. Obviously, the s 10 destroys both of these phones and single and multicore tests, but you got to keep in mind that the s10 is a much more expensive device. Next up I ran a 3dmark slingshot extreme on the OpenGL portion of the test, 652 Vulcan 735, and once again the a20 does beat out the a-10 II, but it lags far behind the s10 and finally am ? ? on the 820. We scored a 100 9000 83 on the 8 NE. We got an eighty-eight thousand six hundred and twenty and the 820 came ahead of the a-10 and all aspects of this test, but the s10 scores around the three hundred and fifty-five thousand, which is miles ahead of both of these devices.

I also did some internet speed testing now keep in mind I'm on the Sprint network, since this is a boost, mobile phone and in my area, Sprint, really isn't that great, but I still manage sixteen point. Three five megabits down on LTE and eight twelve up Wi-Fi over my five gigahertz network was amazing at 270 megabits, down and 27.1 up. So like I mentioned, the camera on this thing actually takes some really nice pictures. This is the 13 megapixel camera on the rear, looks very nice, but I am outside and a half perfect lighting. Here's another quick shot from the 13 megapixel camera, but when we swap over to the wide-angle 5 megapixels, the coloring does change a lot, but we do have that wide-angle view and personally I, like the colors that are coming from this 5 megapixel, rather than the 13 swapping back to the 13 megapixel camera inside with some perfect lighting.

Everything is very, very crisp as for low lighting, it's not that great, but it will get you by now. This is the same exact scene with my lighting turned off and to tell you the truth, it actually came out much better than I thought it would move over to some native Android gaming, this little phone actually rocks when it comes to these games. Everything that I've tested has worked really well. A few of the games. I did have to set to low, but they're definitely playable.

This is hearthstone, and you'll have no trouble enjoying this game on the a20. Here are modern ops, I have it set the medium, and it works really well on the galaxy 820 I've been playing this game a lot lately, and I really don't know what drew me to it. But this is one of my favorite Android games right now. For some reason, here's asphalt, 9 legends, I, also tested the rally version. I forget I, think it's called extreme rally: + real racing by EA and all of them perform great on a 20 Pub G is definitely playable on the 20 I.

Have this set to medium and I? Have the FPS set to extreme, but I, don't think we're quite hitting 60fps optimal settings for this would be low, but, as you can see here, it's definitely playable on medium Minecraft. Pocket Edition performance is great, as you can see here and using a Bluetooth controller. This intensive take 7 0 0 7x. This is my favorite Bluetooth controller right now, I've done a full video on it, and I'll leave a link in the description. If you want to pick one of these up, it's a great Bluetooth controller for Android and finally, my favorite part of these videos, the emulation section.

This is PSP using pass test it a bunch of games. Here everything works really well, except for Kill zone liberation, god of war chains of Olympus and midnight flop. Those are three of the harder games to run, but most of the other stuff that I tested, I was able to run at 2x, ? 3 x resolution. Next up we have some Dream cast emulation using the red ream emulator from the Google Play Store. This is Power Stone, ? tested a few other games.

I was able to get 60fps across the board, works really well on this device. N64 shouldn't give you any trouble. I'm using mu, pin 64 + FM from the Google Play Store. This is perfect dark, and it's running at a perfect. Frame rate I was even able to run Conker's Bad Fur Day, but I did have to drop the resolution down a little, but it's still playable.

Unfortunately, this device isn't powerful enough to run every Sega Saturn game at full speed. There's a lot of them that are going to struggle. A little. I did test out a few different cores in retroarch and the stand alone, no boss and Shirt. So in the end, I think the Samsung Galaxy 820 is a great budget phone at 160 dollars.

Now it's kind of pushing at that 199 dollar mark that Boost Mobile has advertised for. If you want to get a hold of one of these, and you're looking for an unlocked version, like I mentioned they're around 160 dollars on Amazon I will leave links in the description you can get it in black, blue or red. These budget prepaid, no-contract phones, whatever you want to call them, have come a long way in the last couple of years and the ones that Samsung have been putting out recently like the a-10, the eight and E and the 820 are awesome devices for the price. So that's pretty much it for this video guys. I really appreciate you watching I know I've been doing a lot of Android lately on my channel, but the single board, computer market and development has been kind of stagnant for the last few months.

So I figured I'd go ahead and switch over till we get some new stuff for the single board. Computers. All links for everything I mentioned will be in the description. If you have any questions at all, let me know in the comments below it'd also be really cool if you'd hit that, like button, maybe subscribe to the channel, but like always thanks for watching.
