Hi guys this is asset and very recently I did an unboxing and first look very, very small details that I could actually give to you of the realm 8 pro I did mention in that video. I was gonna, be doing a more sort of full in-depth look at this phone going over all the features, and that is today Realme actually reached out to sponsor this video. But, as always, all views are my own, both good and bad. There are some brilliant things about this phone, but there are also a couple of things that I'm not so sure about, and you need to know about if you are indeed looking to possibly pick this up now before we touch on all of that, we need to know where this phone actually sits in the market, so you can always have that in the back of your mind when we're talking through the features the specs etc. So this phone is going to retail for roughly under 300 UK pounds slightly more in us dollars and roughly around 25 000 Indian rupees. So, firstly, I wanted to actually delve into whom this phone is really targeted at, and we can assess that by looking at some of its features that are heavily marketed, starting with, of course, the 108 megapixel quad camera setup.
So this is one of the cheapest 108 megapixel smartphone cameras available, and it's joined by an eight megapixel ultra-wide angle lens a two megapixel black and white portrait lens and a two megapixel macro lens. Now I'm going to split the camera performance into two main sections: we've got the primary and the ultra-wide on one side, and we've got the macro and the black and white portrait lens on the other. So firstly, why have a 108 megapixel lens? Well, one of the main reasons is due to the larger sensor size. You are able to capture more detail with a max resolution of twelve thousand by nine thousand, with the upgraded Samsung hm2 sensor. Realm have also developed a new ultra-high definition algorithm for extra clarity.
This means, if you do wanna punch in on any of your shots, there's so much information there. It's still crystal clear one thing I have noticed on a lot of the images: the depth of field is razor-thin, so you do get that really nice crisp focal point, but a lot of the stuff either side tends to be quite blurred. So sometimes you get a slightly unnatural look, but equally sometimes it looks really, really dramatic. So personal preference- and this is actually the little guy right here or should I say big guys a bit of a beast and the 8 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens- is also something that I would use. There is a slight fish eye distortion that you see on a lot of ultra-wide angles: smartphone camera lenses and it's not the best quality in terms of sharpness and detail, but it does the job.
Now. It's well documented on this channel that I'm not a massive fan of macro lenses on smartphone cameras and likewise filter lenses and black and white portrait lenses, etc. They're great fun to play around with I personally wouldn't use them that much. Having said that, if you did want to, you can expect to get a macro shot from anywhere up to four centimeters away from the object and the black and white portrait lens is a new color filter system which enables the portrait lens to detect a wider array of light, assisting the main lens to enhance image contrast and create stylized images, like I said, great fun to play around with, and that's a pretty reoccurring theme with this camera. There's so much customization, there's so many modes that you can play around with the likes of a new starry mode, the world's first starry time-lapse of video, a tilt shift mode where using an algorithm, you can transfer the real world into a kind of miniature world, almost lots of different night modes on photo and video and a dual view, video mode as well.
This basically allows you to use your front and rear cameras at the same time, so you can be vlogging a situation and showing your audience what you're looking at the same time, again great fun to play around with now. Sadly, there is no telephoto lens here, so all zoom is actually digital. It goes up to 20 times, but Realme have developed, what's known as a three times in sensor. Zoom Realme claim that this allows the eight pro to produce three times, zoom shot in pretty much the same clarity as a phone that has three times optical zoom, I'll flash two photos on the screen now, and you tell me whether you can see a difference or whether you think the 8 pro actually competes. So now, let's jump onto hardware, starting with the build quality and this phone for me sits slap, bang right in the middle.
It doesn't look in my opinion or feel the most premium available, but equally it doesn't feel cheap and nasty. I'm not a massive fan of the text. On the left hand, side well documented in my first video, but I do really like this matte frosted finish here. There's also a really nice texture to it. It's drippy, and it feels kind of almost a bit 3d lovely, lovely, lovely stuff.
We do have a headphone jack. We do have a type c charging port which allows for 50 watts super dark charge which can charge your 4 500 my battery cell from naught to nearly 50 in about 17 minutes very, very respectable, and we have our speaker grille there as well, and its stereo speakers, and I'm going to give you a quick test of the sound and my bad dancing aside. It does a pretty decent job again, not the best stereo speakers. I've heard, but then again remember the price, not terrible, not tinny, not the best. Now, let's turn to the chipset.
That's powering this, and it is running with the Qualcomm snapdragon 720 g, and that is the same as last year's model. For me personally, I would have liked to have seen them upgrade that chipset. It still runs pretty nice and smooth with only fairly small amount of lag compared to the highest end flagship chipsets around, but yeah that could have definitely been improved and something that possibly in a future product. They could look to address often because smartphone manufacturers make so many phones throughout the year. They will focus on certain things more than others, and in this case this is one of the things they haven't focused on, but again for the price, a snapdragon 720 g chipset is decent.
It does have a really nice and vibrant 6.4 inch super AMOLED display. The resolution is full HD, there's a 180 hertz touch sampling rate and there's a special sunlight mode which can push the brightness up to 1 000 nits in harsh direct sunlight. Now, unfortunately, we don't have a high refresh rate on this phone. It is set to 60 hertz. The latest iPhone is still 60 hertz, but there are quite a few android manufacturers who are now providing higher 90 120 144.
It does make things feel slightly snappier and smoother again. One of the things they haven't focused on the front snapper is a 16 megapixel lens, and I'm going to as always do one for the gram, and that is absolutely beautiful.4K 30 max video there is a micro SD card slot. I know this is like the headphone jack, a huge thing for some people still nowadays, because phones are dropping them. Well, you have both with this and then the software android 11 and the new realm UI 2.0, and this is not stock android, but there are elements to it which follow that sort of vein with quite a few customizations just like with the camera they like to throw in quite a lot of features, dark mode, icon, customizations and special one-handed features and many more a max of eight gigabytes of ram. I know we've seen on some high-end flagship, smartphones, 12 and 16 gigabytes.
I think eight is still more than enough and up to 128 gigabytes of internal UFS, 2.1 storage, not the latest type of storage and not a huge amount, but of course micro SD card slot. You can expand if you want to so all in all for the price. There are a lot of really great features here with the Realme eight pro it's more of a case of what is right for you. There are things that they've added, which are brilliant. There are a couple of things that they've left out.
Like I said, and if they're dealbreakers, then it's not for you. If they're not dealbreakers, it's a great phone. Let me know what you think in the comment section below. Is it a yay or an for the Realme 8 pro, and they're, starting to build a cheeky little ecosystem right here as well? These earbuds are really impressive, I'll try and do some more information on them very soon, and I'm just about to start trying out this smartwatch as well. Let me know in the comments as well.
If you want to see that sort of content sub, if you're new and love everything tech, I love you. Ladies I'll see you next time.
