Razer Phone 2 Update in 2021 - It's Over...

Hey, what's up fellas, I'm my licensed female fan, Steve Alicia's here with the racer phone 2 today, and while six months ago, I had put the chances of us getting android 10 officially at about 10 today, as you can tell from the title of the video I'm putting it at zero, as other phones, phones with similar processors, gs, and this and the like are getting ready to experience. Android 11, we're sitting here on our racer phones too, hoping that we just get a security patch newer than last November. They had been at least updating it. There was one in September. There was one in November, and you'd think maybe they'd squeeze one out for January, but not yet, and it's looking more and more like the limited team that they had still working on the racer phone 2 is pretty much done. This is the brand case I got before it disappeared off their website.

I think it looks quite nice with it and there's today really. What I want to do in this video is go over three reasons why the lack of support and the end of support for the racer phone 2 really bothers me at this time. The first one is the company itself. If you had purchased this phone in a budget price range, perhaps in a mid-range price range from a company that you'd never heard of there'd at least be an expectation in the back of your mind. You'd halfway expect that one day you'd wake up and find out that the company shut the doors they closed.

They fired everybody close and no, never hear from them again and support would disappear, and that would be part of the risk that you would be taking from a new company with a new product and a new genre of phone. That you'd half expect that to happen. But that's not the case here. We're talking razor and to watch them go on with their 100 other products that they're making profits on while they slowly erase the memory of the phone. The racer phone 2 from their website is painful, especially if you went out there and spent.

If you got this at the flagship price, when it first came out in october 2018, if you shelled out the 8.99 for this, I don't think from a company like racer you're completely out of line. I don't think it's a big ask to say: hey. Can I at least get three years of support? Could I at least get the two updates that you provided for the racer phone one? You went from android 7 android, and then you got android nine on the racer phone one, so I don't think an expectation from a company as large as racer to get the similar level of support at that price range is out of the question, and you sit there, and you see them, and they have all it's not like. They went out of business. You could have other people there working on it still giving updates, especially for that money, and the other thing is.

The second thing is the hardware, because originally they gave us this explanation while well we're we're talking with the engineers we got to see. If, if the hardware can handle android 10, it's not like, you were sitting there and shoehorning in android 10 and the features and the functionality into a phone with two gigs of ram running a snapdragon 800, in which case you might say, okay well, if this, if they have to do a lot of work to get this thing optimized that would be a different story. You don't snapdragon 845 8 gigs of ram a lot of features that you'd still want to use in 2021. If you got this and a lot of people even on the last video from six months ago, still commenting hey pick this one up: sub 200 bucks for all these specs and the build quality and all right. I know some people had some issues with the build quality.

I never did. Furthermore, I know people had issues with speakers, the camera's not working all the rest of it. Furthermore, I never had those issues, so I can't really speak to that. But what I can tell you are that the spec sheet for this, with the wireless charging, the little led son the back to provide some little unique feature to it: the glass, the fast charging, the 120 hertz display, which, in my mind, is still, still one of the better implementations of 120 hertz refresh rate until now, we'll see what happens now, because you still got the 1440p display on this running at the full 120 so until the s21 ultra, and we can see if they could run all the time at 120. This feels silky smooth all the time going through the menus, the games, it's just a pleasure to use.

So it's that much more annoying that we can't get the updates that I think we're entitled to with this type of phone. The third thing is: it's not like the genre disappeared. It's not like gaming phones just were wiped off the face of the planet, nobody's doing it with no success. You got the republican gamers phone. You got the ASUS phone, you got the red magic phones, you got the black shark phones, you got other people making gaming phones still today and having success with it, and you would have loved to have seen continued support.

Furthermore, you would have loved to have seen a racer phone three, what they would have been able to do taking the stuff that they learned, because I think it was a fantastic jump between the racer phone one to the racer phone too. They were absolutely heading in the right direction. Perhaps they would have learned. Maybe the price could come down a little. You know.

I think that republican gamers phones got it. Quite you know right in the right range you're, looking six seven hundred bucks. Maybe they could have done that gotten back in the game with some improvements would have been wonderful to see. So those are the reasons why it's especially disheartening that we're not going to be seeing updates anymore for the racer phone 2, and you watch their website. They had great cases that they made.

They still sell this type of case by the way for iPhones and Samsung's and all the rest of, but they took support and sales for their phone off their website. It just gets annoying. It gets annoying, and it gets depressing so unfortunately, as much as I love this device as much as I still use it for all my gaming stuff. Until you know, lineage OS has a release for the racer phone one. Perhaps they're gonna work on a release for a racer phone two.

If that happens, I'll be doing another video on it. I feel bad if you paid 900, I don't think three years of support for paying 900 for a flagship phone from a company like racer is incredibly out of the question. If you got it as a budget device, you're still going to be able to use it. You know two three hundred bucks. If you spend on this, I still love the fact that I got this for 400 on clearance best buy it's a fantastic device, good hardware, even still today, in 2021 perfectly usable, you just wish one more round of updates.

Android 10 would give us another two years with this little ass was it meant to be if you're still loving your razor phone too. Let me know in the comment section below if you've made it. This far like comment subscribe all that fun stuff until next time have that Steve malicious day.
