Razer Phone 2: 2021 Update!!!!

Hello everyone and welcome back to the channel today we're talking about my racer phone too uh, because this has been the most popular video on my channel for the last two years uh. So, let's get into it so where's your phone too you're no longer made. Sadly it was a quality device. It is pretty good. It all admit I mean now if we think back like how long ago this was actually made like it's pretty impressive, like the specs, like eight gigabytes of ram 64 gigs of storage. What was this made? 2018 2019 yeah my phone's about two three years old yeah.

That's why and speaking of which the design isn't that bad like it's not bad. You know what it's its stood the test of time, so I'll just turn it on right here. So you can see. This is my daily driver. You can see me on a tractor there uh.

We love farming on this channel, we're thinking about getting some farming simulator videos out there for you guys, maybe one day if we did download the app eventually, but you can see this phone is my daily driver. I have everything that I use on a daily basis on this phone. I have no lag if I'm swipe up I'll just swipe up for you. There is no lag here. It's still the same as the day I purchased it uh.

If I scroll down here, and I go into the settings battery life, it's not that great I'll, be honest with you. It's not great, but during the pen dynamic, you're at home anyway, so you can charge it all the time you can see. I've only been using this for two hours of screen on time, and we're at 42 uh like we're not going to win any records with this phone uh, especially with uh the hertz that I have it at. I don't have it at like full, like 120 hertz, I only have it at the 90 hertz refresh rate um. You don't really need any higher than that like on a day-to-day basis, if you're watching a movie or something you're not going to be using 120 hertz as you're watching that movie, if you're playing a game, sure yeah, you might use that, honestly.

Going to be honest with you for a gaming phone, I only play a couple of games on here, and they're, not really worthy of 120 hertz flappy bird is a legend though this is the original flappy bird, the emoji, and if you want to download flappy bird, it's really easy. You just go back into my previous purchases on the Google Play Store and you can still download it. It gives you a warning saying this app is a little old for what you're running uh, but you know what this is an old phone. So it's fine, uh bdd6 gets a little. Warm phone gets a little toasty, but there's a lot of graphics sounds like 3d, and I mean any phone will get toasty there.

So yeah same with Star Trek fleet command that apps a little intensive, but hill climb racing runs that game like a champ. I've never seen a phone run a game so well yeah. So I do use this drone for many purposes. I use it for my DJI drone footage. I haven't put out a drone video in a while I'm getting around to it.

It's been a little difficult with COVID-19. I use it for all my smart features at my house garage door, opener cameras, all my mail and even my YouTube channel uh overall great phone, now there's a couple of downsides to this phone, even though it's three-year-old phone, I'm gonna, complain about a couple of things. The first thing is: if I put this phone on speakerphone, and I'm speaking into this phone, it sounds like a tin can for the person on the other side, like literally a tin can, like I've, talked to you on the phone. While I've been on this phone, can you hear me clearly? No, no, it's its like uh. What do you call it like the pilots in the air? You know yeah and like there's, no settings to change that, like you could turn off Dolby Atmos.

I don't know if that helps. I don't think so, because that's just for the speakers um, but overall, because they made this phone waterproof. This is the second generation. That's the racer phone too, with the cameras in the middle, like the waterproofing, did not help the usability of the phone. Personally, I think if it wasn't waterproof this, the speaker, like the speaker and microphone quality, would be much, much better now.

That leads me into my second thing for the speakers, if you put the speakers above halfway, they start to make a crackling noise. It's very unfortunate. I think I've had it loud too many times, because they're really loudspeakers. If I turn off Dolby Atmos, I can put it a little higher, but then it's really quiet, so I just keep it about halfway and I really have to listen. So if you have a hard time hearing things, not the phone for you uh, especially after it's three years old yeah and that's unfortunate now, there's another thing: that's a little sad about this phone, and this was this is kind of sad.

Most of my YouTube videos are shot on this phone, but uh. We don't really want to talk about the quality of the video coming out of this phone, and especially like the sound quality is not great, but it is 4k. You can get 4k on that phone, and it's 30 frames per second. I wouldn't believe that it's a true 4k uh, but you know for the age of the device like it performs. Well, it does sometimes crash, and you could download a different app so that way this doesn't happen to you but, like, like I said it's a three-year-old phone.

You have to take that into an account. I use this every single day as my daily driver, I charge it two or three times a day and that's the life of a racer phone too. In 2021, you, you don't have the newest android version on here. What do you think the android version on here is like nine, I think it's nine two yeah? I think it's not the newest one uh. Let's see here, system update, yeah, updated to android 9.

And the last android security update was November 5th 2020. , so they do put out those uh security patches every once in a while, but it's not the newest android, but it doesn't need to be. This is a racer phone too. It still runs like the day. I had it no problems with this thing, and it looks great like when people see this in your pocket or if you have your LED notifications on in the back they're like what phone is that, and you're like I have a racer phone too and overall, I think it's pretty good quality.

You have you've tried it. What do you think? Uh? It's okay, it's a little boxy for me, but when you're doing things like playing hill climb racing, those like speaker bezels on the side like here, let me show you this speaker. Bezels are really great for like when you're, not pressing the gas pedal. You know you can just rest your hands. There bam.

You know: you're gaming, you're, gaming, you're gaming bam. You rested there and um yeah. So I think it's a lot better than having like a notch or something like that. I mean you don't get the face ID, but at least you got like you know what the notch trend this. I think this came out just before the notch trend and like you, don't need a notch like that's the thing right.

We're used to these square screens, you don't need it to be curved and honestly, I think that's why this phone is still the test of time, because this case, like for being three years old, looks fantastic. Now. This is my second racer phone too. My other racer phone is being used by my dad right now and that one's even older um, but so far these have been the most reliable phones even compared to like a Samsung phone uh, which is surprising and in the comments section people have been asking me. Can I buy your phone off you? No, you cannot buy my phone because I use this phone as my daily driver every day and if I sold it to you, I wouldn't have a phone anymore, and I can't get another racer phone too anyways.

I hope that kind of sums up what a racer phone 2 is like in 2020, it's an average but reliable phone and there's nothing fancy about it. Uh. Obviously they don't sell these anymore. I just kind of made this video just for fun uh, just because I thought it's something: cool and a lot of phone reviewers don't go back to the older phones; they just use the newest and greatest technology that they can get a hold of, and that's great uh, but for people who can't afford it. Like me, uh.

This is a great device that you might want, or you might want to look at. So thanks for watching hope. You check out more of my other videos, and we'll see you in the next one goodbye.
