Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G: Practical with a hint of bokehlicious fun

OPPO continues their strides in the Reno line, and now I am using the latest version in a pro variant, but what exactly elevates this Reno to pro status? Well, it's Joshua verger! What's going on everybody, let's explore that as we look through the lenses, the eyes of the Oppo Reno 6 pro, you might notice this thing right here on my chest: um I actually DIY'd a couple of magnets for the rode wireless go 2 which I'm still experimenting with as one of my audio solutions. So let me know what you think of the sound quality and also what you think of this little magnet here on my chest in the comments down below. In any case, let's get back to the phone and let's take a look at those camera specs in particular, there is a 64 megapixel main sensor and that's obviously going to be the one that brings all the power now that is backed by an 8 megapixel ultra-wide, but the significant dip in the megapixel count also means plenty more mainly that the ultrawide is not able to record at 4k resolution. That's a big bummer selecting the ultrawide actually changes the resolution, while then selecting 4k, automatically switches to the main sensor and all zoom is done digitally with levels available at 2, 5 and 10 via that little button in the viewfinder and then finally, you get a couple of other sensors, the 2 megapixel depth sensor and the 2 megapixel macro sensors. There's not really a lot that I can say about them that you haven't already heard from many of the other phones that choose to have those two sensors there when we can all argue that maybe they're not ultimately that useful. What is impressive on this phone, however, is the front-facing camera which comes in at 32 megapixels.

It's got a decent wideness to it, which you're going to see plenty, often in this video, and it allows for a good amount of the background to be in the shot alongside you, the subject that actually plays perfectly into what is going to be a mode. You see a lot in this. The new both flare portrait mode. This mode is super fun to use. It actually does a pretty good job of finding the subject and cutting it out, while adding nice both effects in the background, and it works for both the rear and the front cameras, add ingredients to the 32 megapixels and the wide enough angle of that front-facing shooter.

It also works for both pictures and video. Of course, most of the fun will be when you're recording videos, it's an easy effect. That's built right into the camera alongside the color portrait mode, so that you can use these cool effects for things like social media, definitely have some beauty mode effects on as well portrait beauty mode effects. Ah, there you go. That's that's more like you can actually see my freckles all right, but you still keep the both.

This is a pretty nice speck actually so now that we know what we're working with here on the camera, specs, let's go ahead and take a look at some results from the camera in this vlog that I shot on a road trip back from wine country in pass Robles, of course, back to Los Angeles. Here's another example of just how cool the bouquet can be in the background. There's this nice little sign neon sign behind me, and you know that when we find a cool little thing like this, we have to take pictures at it, uh trying to teach my mom how to get a good shot of me in this little nook here, uh, but yeah take a look at this. This is actually really cool. I like that this effect is pretty effective um.

You know it can just cut me out of the frame and add effects to everything in the background and here's a look at the video coming out of the front without those effects on. Obviously, this says wish you were here, and you know who I'm thinking of whenever I see a phrase or think a phrase like this, but yeah front-facing camera, even though it's not able to do 4k video recording um. Well, I have perfect lighting in this area. Right now and so far it's been perfect lighting in my front-facing camera shots, but yeah I'm liking the quality coming out of it. Even if it's not able to do higher than 1080p so after seeing all of this, I pretty much find that the results are in line with what I would expect to give in these camera specs.

But there's one important thing to note here, and it's sort of the crux of my thoughts on this phone. This is not the top of the line. Reno 6 there's, actually a Reno 6 pro plus that has beefier specifications across the board. For example, the camera uses a 50 megapixel main sensor that is physically larger than the one we get here. It has a 16 megapixel ultrawide and a proper 13 megapixel telephoto for actual zooming in without relying just on digital.

Now, don't get me wrong. This is a very affordable device and for those people who are looking to save a little of money, you do have plenty of good performance, and you have some fun modes in the camera to play with. But when you tell me something is pro, and then you make something that is decidedly more pro well, I have to mention it I'll give the Reno 6 pro credit, where credit is due for most people, it's going to be a great performer and provide just enough for casual users who are looking to save some money and don't have content creation as a priority. The thing is: that's the kind of person I am and, as I'm literally vlogging with this phone in this video, I can't help but feel a little envy for the Reno 6 pro plus this little trip of ours has turned into quite the mini holiday. For my parents, uh, as you saw earlier, we went to the sensorial fields of light earlier, or rather yesterday in uh, and now we're just taking the long way home going into places like solving this little Denmark and Dutch type area.

That is really awesome to just walk around and just enjoy some cool stuff. And, of course, if you're in a danish like area, you get pastries, so pistachio square right here, along with some iced coffee. Maybe it is a little of a holiday for me too. I mean I had to do it here in Santa Barbara. You have to go to the original habit, burger the very first one continued thoughts on the camera performance as we continue on the vlog.

The wide-angle camera is a decent enough performer, but it significantly dips in quality and capabilities from the 64 megapixel main sensor, like I said before, everything from the photo quality to the video resolution to even the results from the night mode mean that the main sensor is the one that you should use as much as possible. Now as far as the other modes are concerned, in this camera, many of them are modes and features we've seen before in the Reno line they're there. If you really want those kinds of effects or results, and most of them will end up being at 1080p resolution, which also includes the both flare portrait mode which, because of what it's able to do in cutting out the subject, I found myself using way more than I expected uh. Basically, what I would say is if anybody is out there who comes to southern California and of course, you've got to try in and out in and out really established a specific flavor profile for themselves that a lot of people really enjoy, I'm a huge fan of in and out, but I would say if it wasn't around, I would definitely be all about the habit. I pretty much put them in the same category, but the other thing is: if you have someone who comes over and doesn't like in and out, because there are certain things that in and out does that help keep it pretty cheap but also keeps that same flavor profile.

I talked about um. The habit actually addresses quite a few of those things like their burgers and their sandwiches. They have an even bigger menu so yeah. If, for whatever reason, you're, not a big fan of in and out definitely try to have it, and it's another piece of southern California that you can try out and there it is that's the okay, I'm going to turn off the portrait mode. Let there be a quick lesson: some modes are really fun, but sometimes they're not conducive to what you're trying to do.

Anyway. There is the burger, my goodness, there are actually very few real key differences when it comes to this location, the main one being that we have this outdoor dining under these tents. Maybe that was the way that it was when it first opened up, but the other thing that uh is here is that you can actually ask for a side of chili. Chili is not served at any uh, any other habit. Location there's also like a ton of other sauces when it comes to like fries dipping your fries and whatnot.

It's just fascinating to come to like the original one, because we're actually big fans of the habit, all in all the Reno 6 pro, is slightly updated, but still familiar territory. The phone is a good performer and, at this price point it's a great choice for users who want to have some of those newer features that Oppo have introduced, but they still want to save some money shout out to the MediaTek dementia 1200 for being a good enough processor that I had no hiccups, even after all, of the shooting I was doing on this quick road trip. Higher powered tasks like gaming might not run at a full clip compared to higher end processors, but they're still going to chug along just fine, and the good performance is easy to feel because of the 90hz display, which is tuned just right for feeling the smoothness of color OS and for enjoying your typical apps and games credit where credit is due. The Reno 6 pro puts just enough of the right stuff in a phone that is really affordable, making some of the best that Oppo has to offer more accessible. I mean that comes right down to even to vouch charging.

The superfast charging is included here at 65 watts, which is always awesome to see. To that end, a full day of constant shooting did not leave me worried as I got down to percent by the end of the night. I did get four hours of screen on time, but that still didn't worry me because the phone was able to get from the beginning of the day with a lot of camera usage all the way to the end, without any problems at all. If anything, the Reno six pro just makes me excited to take that both flair portrait mode and put it on a phone in the Reno 6 pro plus, that has even better sensors and to see what results that is able to get. But for now the Reno 6 pro stands as a great introduction into one.

Maybe a few of the main features that Oppo is now bringing to their cameras and software and, if you're interested in having a bit of that creative fun added to a practical and very affordable device. The Reno line still has your back pretty much across the board, and so there you have it a real world camera test, typically a vlog using the phone in question. In this case, the Oppo Reno 6 pro I had a lot of fun with the phone. I do wish that some specs were a little higher, but then again we have to remember the low price point of this device, so of course, you're going to get a very good performing and practical device with a little of extra fun along the way for more on phones like the opening 6 pro, and hopefully the pro plus is coming at some point soon make sure you subscribe to my channel drop some likes on this video and get into the comment sections down below. Let me know what you think of everything you saw and of the audio quality, given what I'm trying to do with the rode wireless go 2.

With all. That said, though, we're going to go ahead and call it on this one. Thank you so much for watching. Please take care of yourselves and each other and enjoy your tea. Everybody.
