Oppo Reno 6 Pro Review: Beefed Up Processor, New Camera Tricks; Should It Be Your Next Pick?

*Half an hour opposed renal lineup smartphones are traditionally known for two things: stunning designs and quirky, but good cameras. Well, the company has just launched two new models in this series: the Renault 6 and the Renault 6 pro, both of which offer 5g and some fun new camera tricks. Well, today, we will be checking out the opp, Reno 6 pro, and it's time to see how much has really improved over its predecessor, which is the opportunity 5 pro, and if it's really worth buying, I'm hoyden you're watching gadget360- and this is my review of the apple vino 6 pro now, let's get one thing out of the way the Oppo arena.6 pro is only available in one variant in India, with 12 GB of ram and 256 GB of storage, and the latter cannot be expanded via any micro SD. So with that out of the way, let's go ahead and check out the design of the phone which, if you look at it, is actually very similar to the opposing 5 pro 5g, the Reno's explorer's overall dimensions are roughly the same as the Renault 5 pro 5g. Just so, the weight has increased a bit. However, it's still one of the lightest and slimmest phones.

You've come across in this segment. I, like the chrome, lined frame and the curved front and back there's also corning gorilla glass over the display, while the glass at the back gets a special treatment, giving it a matte finish with a shimmering crystal like appearance. The placement of the buttons are also ergonomic and at the bottom you get a sim tray, USB type-c port and the speaker. Now, there's no headphone jack, but you do get an USB type-c headset in the box, the front of the Oppo Reno 6 pro is dominated by this bright and vivid 6.5-inch full HD, plus AMOLED panel. It retains all the smarts from the previous model, such as a 90hz refresh rate HDR, 10, plus playback certification and a 180 hertz that sampling rate.

Now, while this is all nice, I would have loved something newer, like a higher refresh rate of 120 hertz or even a higher touch sampling rate just to make it more competitive. You do get an in-display fingerprint sensor and the option to use and always on display now one feature: that's solely missing is stereo speakers. Now the Reno 5 pro 5g didn't offer it, and it's kind of sad to see even the new model still misses out on it. Now. Stereo speakers are something we've increasingly seen common, even in phones under 20, 000 rupees.

So it's kind of puzzling to see it left out on a phone this expensive one of the big upgrades to the operand 6 pro is the new MediaTek diamond city 1200 soc. Now compared to the diamond city thousand plus soc. In the previous model, the new one is built using a smaller and more efficient six nanometer process, with some tweaks to the CPU cluster and the GPU. It's a pretty powerful 5g soc, and we recently saw it in phones such as the realm x7 max. The Reno 6 pro runs on OPPO's latest color, OS 11.3, based on android 11. Now you get the usual customization options for changing the system theme always on display, as well as some pre-installed apps from oppose such as or relax, which plays soothing, sounds in order to help you relax and gaming mode, which blocks out unwanted distractions when playing, but here's something interesting.

Some features and apps in the latest version of colors seem to have been directly influenced or taken from OnePlus oxygen OS, which kind of makes sense. Now, considering that OnePlus is officially part of Oppo and OnePlus has also formally stated that oxygen OS will merge with color OS. For instance, there's an AOD portrait silhouette feature in the customization menu of the always-on display, which is basically a renamed canvas. AOD feature that we first saw on OnePlus smartphones. The gaming app previously known as game space and colors is now simply called games, and it looks identical to the app from oxygen OS.

However, the lean nature of oxygen OS that we all love doesn't seem to have rubbed off on color OS, well, not yet anyway, as there's still a ton of bloatware and a lot of unwanted notification. Spam to deal with apps such as the theme store and browser are notorious for this, and sadly these cannot be uninstalled. Talking about performance, color OS ran smoothly on the Oppo Renault 6 pro party, thanks to the ample ram, but also due to the speedy soc, which didn't really skip a beat benchmark. Numbers were also solid, with the Reno 6 pro churning out impressive scores in apps such as an tutu games also ran pretty well. Despite the slim body, the back of the phone never really got overly hot.

Even after extended gaming sessions. Heavy titles such as asphalt, 9 legends, ran perfectly fine, with consistent frame rates. Now in most games that I tried, the display refresh rate did drop to 60 hertz, except for a few, such as brawl stars, which did run at 90 hertz. The operand 6 pro is backed by slightly larger 4 500 William hour battery compared to the Renault 5 pro 5g, but features the same 65 watt fast charging capability. I found the battery life in general to be pretty solid.

I was easily getting about a day and a half of regular use, which involved lots of video watching and social apps. The battery also charged very quickly with the supplied adapter, and I was able to get up to 96 charge in an hour which is very quick. The Reno 6 pro also did pretty well in our HD video loop test, lasting for a solid 17 hours and 21 minutes. Now. Moving on to the cameras, the setup is pretty much identical to that on the Reno 5 pro, except for a few software tweaks here and there you get a 64 megapixel primary camera, accompanied by an 8 megapixel ultra-wide, a 2 megapixel macro and a 2 megapixel monochrome for selfies.

You get a 32 megapixel sensor. The main camera still does not get any kind of optical stabilization. Nor do we have any telephoto camera as an upgrade. Now the main focus for the cameras this time is the both flare portrait filter when shooting videos, apart from isolating the subject from the background, this filter also helps heavily refocus, even the smallest light source, in the background, thereby creating an effect where you get shimmering orbs of light. This works at night and even during the day, even if you have scattered sunlight coming in through the trees behind you, you can use this filter with the front and the rear cameras and in general it works pretty well.

However, apart from this new filter, the camera features and performance for still photos at least is very similar to what I experienced with the Reno 5 pro 5g, which is to say it's pretty good during the day photos packed in plenty of detail in both landscapes and close-up shots. The ultrawide camera isn't the strongest in comparison for details or accuracy of colors sills taken in low light, had very good details too. Even without night mode, close-ups packed in very good colors and details, provided your hands are steady enough. Night mode is quite effective in brightening up the scene, both for the main and the ultra-wide cameras. The selfie camera is not bad too, once you turn off the beauty filter, and it also manages to capture good details during the day as well as low light recorded.

Video sadly still needs some improvement. The Oppo Reno 6 pro can record up to 4k 30 fps, but just like with the previous model. There's no stabilization at this resolution, which is a bit of a let-down. Video quality, is decent during the day and even in low light when shooting at 4k. Now electronic stabilization does kick in at 1080p, but the video quality is not as good as 4k and there's also noticeable jitter in the video when you're shooting in low light, the opening 6 pro is yet another solid offering that follows very closely in the footsteps of its predecessor, albeit a bit too close for my lighting.

It's still one of the slimmest and lightest phones in its class and has a looks to go with it. Now. It's not perfect and there's still a lot of features that are still annoyingly missing, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a pretty powerful smartphone with good battery life and a decent set of cameras for still photography. However, compared to the Oppo Dino 5 pro 5g, the Oppo Reno 64 doesn't really seem like a big enough upgrade. The competition has also caught up, and today you can find phones such as the Redmi x7 max, and even the mi 11x from Xiaomi that offers same features, if not sometimes better, for much lower starting prices.

Things such as stereo speakers' stabilization at 4k, and maybe even an IP rating, could have really strengthened the opposing 6 pros position in the market. So that's been it for my review of this phone. Let me know your thoughts about this in the comments below and as always for all things, tech log on to gadget360. com, you.
