ONEPLUS NORD CE 5G - BEST COMPACT 5G SMARTPHONE SO FAR FOR 2021 By GADGET SIDEKICK

So guys, I've just got home and I received a package from our friends over from Digital Walker, and it's the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. And this phone is I know one of the thinnest and most compact smartphone that is 5G capable. So let's go and join me in unboxing this one. (introduction music) So hi guys! It's me Richmond of Gadget SideKick and welcome back to my channel. So we just saw the unboxing of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. And guys, we can see it's definitely very very simple.

The phone is sleek and beautiful, though it's not that... it's not that shiny. Yet, its back is smooth. And what I like about it is it's not a fingerprint magnet. And underneath we can see it's type-C port.

And what's surprising is its 3.5mm audio jack is still there which is one of my wants in the devices these days. A lot have removed this already. But if they'll really want it, they can still put a 3.5mm audio jack even if the phone is thin. So you can see the OnePlus Nord 5G is definitely very light and very thin. It's thin and lightweight.

It's feels good holding it. It's definitely something that is pretty light on the pocket, yet it's not that expensive. Guys, for Php16,999 you can buy this at Digital Walker. You can check their store online and offline. I'll post the link below where you can buy this, but of course right now let's talk about the specs of this phone.

So this OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G which is of course, an octa-core processor that can run up to 2.2Ghz speed. Then it's even paired with the Adreno 619 as its GPU. This one in my hand is the 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There's only one variant of this one upon releasing. And for me, it's more than enough.

Its storage is very generous already. And of course, its memory is also very generous already. It's more than enough for gaming. So this phone has three colors. It has blue void, charcoal ink, and silver ray.

But of course, definitely I pick this one as probably one of my favorite color for this series. So since we've talked about its processor, let's take a look at its score here in AnTuTu Benchmark. We're using right now is the AnTuTu Benchmark 9.0.12 version and it gave it a 387,000 points here in AnTuTu Benchmark. Of course, the score is pretty high already. So here in Sling Shot Extreme I have high expectations on it when it comes to gaming.

It reached 2,747 in Sling Shot Extreme. So definitely it's a must try for gaming later during the review. So let's check it out later on its ability in gaming. So it's also given a Widevine Level 1 Security here in DRM Info which means we can watch HD on this phone. This OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a 6.43-inch fluid AMOLED. It's got 90Hz screen refresh rate 1080p, and of course its front is glass.

I'm just not sure what Corning Gorilla Glass this is, but definitely it's a Corning Gorilla Glass. I haven't ready anything online on what grade it has. And its back is definitely plastic. And its frames are definitely made out of plastic. So one of the downsides in the OnePlus Nord CE 5G is... of course, it only is a dual Nano SIM.

It doesn't have a slot for expansion for microSD expansion. But nevertheless, sometimes 128GB is more than enough. So since this phone is already a 5G... So we've put a 5G SIM... We can see that we'll immediately receive a 5G signal.

There's no doubt. We can see it's 5G. Let's just focus it a bit. You can see we're 5G right now. Okay.

This is a postpaid of Globe Telecom. So let's just try to run a speed test. Let's see if it's really fast or not. But guys, remember from my previous vlog that there are two kinds of 5G, there is the real 5G and the fake 5G. The real 5G being the 5G NR or new radio.

And the fake 5G, or they're calling it in other countries as 4.5G which is the 5GE...5G Evolution or 4GA, 4G Advanced. There. So we've run the speed test using a 5G SIM. So this is the result using a 5G SIM. Do you think it's a real 5G or not? I'll let you judge it.

So definitely guys, the speed of 5G is depending on our network. It doesn't depend on the handsets. Take note of that. So guys, I've taken out this phone for a spin outdoors. I can tell you that the screen is very bright.

I can tell you that using it under the direct sunlight, it's pretty smooth. I've been able to read all the videos and I can see all the text on this phone when I'm using it under the sun. So right now we've tried watching a video on YouTube and definitely I can tell you guys that the viewing angle is pretty nice. Though, it's a little bit smaller than usual. The industry standard right now are those 6.6-inchers. But nevertheless, I can tell you that the viewing angle here is definitely smooth in the eyes.

I've watched Netflix for roughly an hour here and I can say that I did enjoy watching shows here on this phone, plus I was even able to use my favorite headphones. It definitely makes it better. Maybe the only thing that's missing on this phone is a stereo speaker which can make it even more immersive when watching videos... without headphones, of course. So guys, let's try to play some games.

So we've tried playing Call of Duty in this phone and I can tell you that we've been able to set it to high in the settings... high framerates, high settings. And the gameplay definitely is very kickass. I can tell you it's very enjoyable. I can tell you the gameplay is definitely very smooth.

Though sometimes there are still some frame drops. So sometimes it's really inevitable... and there are lags. But they are very very minimal. But when we've playing for too long, I can feel the back gets a little bit warmer than usual.

Well, the only way that you can avoid it now is of course to put a cooler in the back of your phone to make it cool while you're playing two/three hours. Definitely you'll need a cooler on the back. Let's talk about the camera of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. So it has a 64MP aperture f/1.8 wide lens together with an 8MP ultra wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. In front it has 16MP aperture f/2.5 front facing camera. And we've got so many shots using this phone.

And surprisingly, I was very pleased with the shots, be it outdoor, be it indoor. The colors were very natural, very punchy, and there are times that it enhances the scene, especially when there's a blue sky. It enhances a bit making more beautiful in our eyes. Maybe it's the powers of the AI of this phone. So, we can sunflower shots, it definitely makes it look a lot better compared to the actual ones I see.

So the AI engine of this phone kind of enhances it. Taking some selfie shots, I can tell you guys that definitely you'll be inclined to take selfies shots on this phone. I've taken so many selfies and its colors in the presentation of the picture are very good. Especially the details on my face, it's definitely very almost like what you'll see in person. So I can tell you that the camera, both the front and the back, is definitely a performer here in the OnePlus Nord CE 5G.

Now, I did take this phone for a spin in Digital Walker in Trinoma using its video camera, both front and back. Let's watch this video. And I'll see you in my next vlog. So I can tell you that the video on this phone is definitely stunning. It's good. Though, it's a little bit jerky but of course you don't expect something too much from a Php16,000 phone. But for it to get that kind of video, it's definitely okay for me.

Of course, it exceeded my expectation for this phone. So I've drained the battery of this phone down to 15% and I charged it back up to 100% using its default 32W fast charger. And it just took us roughly in just under one hour. It's like about 56 minutes where it finished charging which is pretty much fast. And of course, this battery is only 4,000mAh so it's not too big like the industry standards that has 5,000mAh.

But, you'll be surprised on the score that it's got... But, you'll be surprised on the score that it's got for the screen-on time in the battery stress test. It's got 12 hours and 25 minutes. And guys, this phone lasted for 1 1/2 days despite it being 4,500mAh. So I've used it for roughly two weeks.

And I'm very with the results. It lasted me for more than 1 1/2 day before hitting the charging dock. So, of course under normal usage like Facebook and YouTube, and of course calls, Zoom meetings, and of course some mild games. Guys after playing with this phone for roughly two weeks, I can tell you that it's definitely one of my early favorites for 2021. And, I can tell you this is probably one of the best compact phones for 2021 for this year.

And of course, inside it has a Snapdragon 750G which is a 5G capable processor together with a very awesome camera that this can get very high detail shots like what I've showed you a while ago. And this camera can almost do flagship level things. Of course, you cannot compare it with flagships, but it almost can compete. It's above the midranger cameras that we've been using. Definitely I can tell you that I'm very happy and very pleased with this unit.

For me, this is definitely a good buy for this 2021, or second half of 2021, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G.
