OnePlus Nord 2 Unboxing and First Impressions By GNCandrew

Hi this is Andrew from geek new central and after last month's look at the OnePlus word CE 5g. We now have the OnePlus word 2 word 2. Now the word 2 or the word rather has been very successful for OnePlus, particularly in Europe. It's OnePlus the biggest selling phone. So we can expect the word 2 to improve on that and really move it forwards, a wee bit. So, let's not dilly-dally.

Let's get this open and have a look and see what's inside the box. Okay, so we've got the word 2 on the desk in front of us. Let's get this open now. This is obviously one of the press packs. So it won't be.

You won't see this as far as I'm wearing the retail stores. Okay, so it looks like we've got. The word phone here comes in the traditional word box, with the lovely um kind of blue holographic effect and looks like they've sent us some um, some covers, which look a bit more, hopefully a bit more exciting than the ones that perhaps came with the uh with the CE. So we've got a funky, a funky semi-transparent one here, they're like this. After a look at that, I've got kind of.

Oh, you kind of got a fade effect one, and then we've got the good old sandstone one there immediately. Looking at this, one thing I'm reminded of slightly is the OnePlus 9 with the uh, with the camera array in the top corner there? Okay! Well, let's keep on tracking here. I'm going to need a little implement to get in here. So this, as I say, this is the word two and for those of you who've been haven't been following the news. This is the first word I think it's possibly the first one plus phone, never mind word phone uh to move away from using the um from using the snapdragon series of processors.

It comes with a MediaTek density 1200ai processor, which, for those of you don't know, MediaTek is one of the largest CPU or arm CPU manufacturers in the world. It's, I don't think we can. You know, there's nothing to read into the fact that we're moving away from snapdragon or from Qualcomm rather to MediaTek. It's still a very well respected, CPU. Okay, so you can kind of see I'm just gonna, I'm just going to hold this, take the sticker off the back.

That has things like the IMEI on it. So what we've got here is we've got the word two um this. Actually, it does feel pretty good. I like it and now this is the um, the gray sierra version of it there are three colors of which I believe just two are coming to the UK. You've got gray sierra you've got a blue haze and then there's also a green wood which I don't think we're getting in the UK.

So what have we got so um USB we've got the uh sim socket here looks like we've got a probable speaker microphone. Well, that's just the ejector, I don't know that's the ejector. There got microphone. We have the on off button on the side. We've got the uh, this, the uh, the mute silencer slider on the side, nothing really on the top, probably an another, little microphone there.

Uh we've got the volume buttons on the side here and around the back. We've got the camera array and for what we've been told, we have a 50 megapixel main camera. We've got an 8 megapixel uh ultra-wide with the 119 or 120 fields of view. Furthermore, we've got optical image stimulation on the main one, and it's just, I think, electronic on the wide, and then we've got the. I think it's just one of these two megapixel um mono cameras.

That's usually used for depth, finding things like that and around the front we also have. Now. This is an um. This is the first time we've actually seen a 32 megapixel selfie camera. It uses one of the Sony, Sony, uh, sensors, the mix 615.

I think so, let's just power it up we'll see how far we get if we're going to get anywhere at all. Does it look like oh? No, there we go. I thought from it. We didn't have any charge, so we actually talked about to talk about charge. It has the four and a half thousand William battery.

It does come with the warp charge 65, which should in theory, fully charge the phone in 30 minutes, and we'll maybe test that out later on, and you can kind of see it booting up. The screen is the 2 2 400 by 1080 kind of pixel display with uh that gives you 410 dpi, and we have the 90 hertz fluid display that we can't expect on most OnePlus phones. So I'm going to kind of log in on this and see how far we get. Let's just agree to a few of these, it's going to look for my move on it. I'll put the sim in later.

Let's just connect it to my Wi-Fi. Excuse me a second okay, so I've put in my password, and it's uh, it's its going to chunk away from there for a minute. Let's just put this so whilst that's doing that, let's see what else there is in the box, so we can see the nodes very much run password. Let's try again talk about yourselves as they say, okay, so it's now connecting so what else is in the box? Okay, so we've got the warp charge 65 now this does appear to be a slightly different charging start charger style. If you perhaps remember some other charges, let me just get one here: they tended to be more upright, whereas this one seems to be across the way, and you have an USB 2 style sockets on the back.

Sorry, not USB 2. , that's an USB, a style rather than USB-C, but obviously you can have USB-C on the other end of the cable. So that's the charger and the cable. I don't think there 's's nothing really else in the box there. So, let's just pop this back in for a second there we go, and so in the box we have the usual clear case which allows you to show off the uh, the color of your phone and then inside.

Here we've got a some bump up some safety information, and we've got some information on all the different people who helped build the word too. That's a nice touch. It must be great if you are actually a member of the team to kind of see the success of the success of your work and uh the fact that you get acknowledged for it. So that's a nice touch. Okay! Well, here we go right.

Well, we can kind of see that the phone has connected up, and it's doing its all its usual things. If anybody's done anything with android phones, uh, it tends to do all of these things. So I'm not going to bore you with that. I mean my first impressions are that this is a nice phone uh I mean the back, feels good and solid um. The front looks great screen, looks fantastic, and I think anybody holds one of these would be very pleased with it in terms of pricing.

What have we got so in terms of pricing for the eight gig uh 128, gig storage, one it's 3.99, and for the 12 gig and the 256 gigabytes of storage, you're, talking 469 uh British pounds, GB pounds um, so you know, I think, in some conversations OnePlus did kind of revitalize the idea of the flagship killer, and certainly so far this gives every credibility? Shall we say to that uh? Obviously there aren't. You know we talked about the charging, there's no wireless charging in this. So you know it's never going to be a flagship phone, but if you're not into wireless charging, why pay for it? That's what I'd say, and this feels like a good, a good, solid phone with an excellent screen and no doubt it'll come with all the usual OnePlus features to enhance your phone use. So you'll have your hidden workspace. You'd, have all the controls over the screen and everything else will be relatively light touch.

So, look I think that wraps up for myself of geek new central I'll get the sim installed on this, get it to use it for a couple of weeks and come back with some feedback. But for now this is Andrew for getting new central thanks very much. You.
