OnePlus Nord 2 5G Disassembly Teardown Repair Video Review

You're watching the OnePlus word 2 5g disassembly. If you need any tools, there are links in the description first, the sim train is to be removed once the sentry is removed. We need to apply heat to the backplate using a hair, dryer or a heat gun, so we can loosen up the adhesive underneath, and then we're going to use a plastic pry tool to pry the backplate off. Here's a look at the glass back the glass covers over here over the camera. Lenses are held down with adhesive, so if you ever crack those or break those and need to replace it, all you would have to do is apply some heat and gently pry them off. Here's a better look at the other side.

One thing I want to mention: prying, the backplate off is pretty difficult since there's a lot of strong adhesive underneath there are 17 Phillips screws which need to be removed once all the screws are removed, there's a rubber cover over here which needs to be removed as well. Now, once that cover is removed, we can disconnect this flex cable over here, and then we can lift and remove this top plastic cover. There are numerous antenna lines drawn on this plastic cover, which are these light gray colored lines. The NFC antenna is located over here and the LED flash is over here. There's also this graphing film over here, which goes over the battery.

On the other side, we can see the graphene film extending over here on top of the motherboard. The purpose of the graphene film is that it helps transfer heat now before we can continue. We need to disconnect the battery cable once the battery cable is disconnected. We can proceed to disconnect the rest of the cables. There are two wire cables or coaxial cables here, which need to be disconnected by popping them off.

There's some graphene film over here and over here, which we need to peel off to gain access to the connector over here for the front facing camera. Now I can disconnect and remove the front facing camera in order to remove the main board. There is one Phillips screw over here. Holding it down which needs to be removed now the main board can be lifted and removed. The main 50 megapixel camera is located over here, followed by the 8 megapixel ultra-wide lens over here and the 2 megapixel mono lens over here.

All three of these can be disconnected by just popping the connectors off there's a secondary microphone located over here, as well as graphite film over here on top of the shield and finally, there's a rubber gasket around this connector over here once the graphene film is peeled back. We can see a thermal pad over here on top of these chips, as well as some thermal paste. On top of these chips. Taking a look at the other side, we can see a large amount of thermal paste over here, which is on top of the graphene film over here, which sits on top of the shields. There's also copper tape over here behind the 50 megapixel camera.

Once the graphene film is peeled back, we can see more thermal pads which sit on top of these chips over here, there's also more thermal paste over here. On top of the processor and ram as well as this trip over here now, this graphing film over the speaker assembly needs to be peeled off and removed once that's removed. We can lift and remove this cover over. Here we can proceed to disconnect the rest of these flex cables and to note this one over here is for the screen. There's one Phillips screw located over here, which is holding down the sub board that needs to be removed.

Now we can lift the sub board, but we can't completely remove it. Yet, since there's a coaxial cable attached, underneath I'm going to flip it over, and then we need to disconnect the coaxial cable on this sub board, the main microphone is located over here. There are also rubber gaskets around these connectors. On the other side, the sim reader is located over here. In order to remove the battery.

There are two red tabs over here provided to help you pry it off. Here's a better look at the battery, and these are two batteries linked together as one now that the battery is removed. We have access to removing that white coaxial cable, which is rattled through over here on the side of the frame and goes along over here underneath the speaker assembly. Now we can lift and remove the speaker assembly on the speaker assembly over the opening there's a mesh filter. This white coaxial cable is connected to an antenna assembly over here in the corner.

This small flex, cable over here, is also connected to this antenna assembly, which we need to peel off and remove here's a better look at that. The battery adhesive sticker needs to be peeled off in order to gain access to the charger port flex, cable, there's a foam padding over here, which also needs to be peeled off. Now we can peel off the charger port flex, cable, here's a look at the charger port itself, which has a red gasket around it. Once we peel back this flex cable over here, which connects the main board to the sub board. We can see a large copper vapor chamber underneath, and this large copper vapor chamber also runs underneath over here, which sits underneath the main board.

Moving on the fingerprint scanner is located over here and the flex cable, for it is here moving over this flex cable. We can see the haptic feedback motor over here and the connector, for it is over here underneath it. So when it comes to replacing the screen itself, you would have to take the back cover off as well as remove all the screws, and then you have to remove the top and bottom cover, as well as disconnect the battery cable and then disconnect the screen cable from the sub board. Remove the sub board itself, giving you access to removing this rubber gasket for the screen, cable and at that point, you'd heat up the front of the phone where the screen is to loosen up the adhesive underneath you'd pry, your old screen off get your new screen, apply new adhesive and reapply to the mid-frame making sure you run your cable back through the opening over here and just reassemble. The phone the flex cable over here is for the power button on this side and there's a flex cable over here for the volume keys the earpiece speaker is located over here on top and the flex cables over here, the earpiece is held down with adhesive, so if you want to replace it, just heat it up and gently pry it off, and finally the proximity sensor- flex cable, is over here.

As far as repairability goes, I give this phone a 5.5 out of 10. The backplate has some strong adhesive, so prying it off is difficult and there are many steps you need to take in order to pry the screen off and replace it. One of the benefits this phone has. Is the provided pull tabs to help you pry the battery off in case you need to replace that now it's time to put the phone back together once all the screws are back in place, apply new adhesive and reapply your backplate flip over the phone power it on, and you're done.
