Asus Zenfone 8 Disassembly Teardown Repair Video Review

You're watching the ASUS before 8 disassembly. If you need any tools, there are links in the description. First, the sim tray needs to be removed. Once the sim tray is removed, you need to use a hair dryer or a heat gun to apply heat to the backplate, so you can loosen up the adhesive underneath, and then you're going to use a plastic pry tool to pry the backplate off. Here's a look at your glass backplate. There are 15 Phillips screws which need to be removed once the screws are removed.

The top plastic cover can be removed. Taking a look at this top plastic cover. There are some light-colored gray antenna lines as well as the NFC antenna located over here and here's a look at the back side. Now the battery cable can be disconnected now. The speaker assembly can be removed, there's another light, gray, color antenna line on the speaker assembly and here's a better look at the speaker assembly.

We can go ahead and peel off this graphite film over here, which helps transfer heat time to peel off the protective tape covering the front-facing camera connector. As well as the headphone jack connector, okay, there's one Phillips screw holding down the main board which needs to be removed once that screw is removed. We can lift and remove the main board so taking a look at the main board, there's a secondary microphone located over here. On top, you also have a small copper tape over here on the shield. One more thing to point out: this main board is a dual layered board, so it has one layer on top of the other, taking a look at the back.

We have some copper tape over here on top of the shields, as well as a lot of thermal paste. Once the copper tape is peeled back, we can see more thermal paste on top of the ram and CPU over here, as well as these two chips over here we have two more flex cables to disconnect, and then we can remove the sub board. Take a look at your sub board. Your main microphone is located over here. On the other side, you have your sim reader located over here.

There are two liquid damage indicators on the lower portion of the phone one over here on the charger port and one over here underneath the simulator there's a flex cable over here, which we need to disconnect once that's disconnected, we can lift and remove the charger port. Here's a better look at that. In order to remove the battery, we need to use isopropyl alcohol and squeeze a few drops around the size of the battery and let it sit for about a minute, so it eats away at the adhesive underneath making it easier to pry the battery off. I will put a link for isopropyl alcohol in the description. Here's a better look at the battery once the battery is removed.

We can see this flex cable over here which connects the main board to the sub-board, as well as your screen cable over here, which is routed to this opening in the mid-frame. So if you had to replace your screen, you would have to take the backplate off, remove the screws and take the top cover off disconnect the battery cable and the screen. Cable you'd have to remove the battery, and then you'll have access to the screen cable. At that point, you would go ahead and heat the front of the phone up, and you pry the screen off the front. Get your new screen apply new adhesive and make sure you run your screen cable through the opening over here and then reapply your screen back to the mid-frame and just reassemble your phone.

We can also see the copper heat pipe over here, which runs along underneath the battery and the motherboard. Your vibrator motor is located over here on the bottom and your earpiece speaker, headphone jack and front-facing camera located on top your headphone jack and front facing camera can be removed by just lifting them up and out of their spot. As far as the earpiece speaker over here, it's held down with adhesive, so you'd have to apply some heat and pry that off the flex cable for your power button volume key is located over here and there's a plastic bracket over here covering them. You can just lift that up and remove it, and last thing to mention you have one more liquid damage indicator located over here. As far as repairability goes, I give this phone a 7 out of 10.

, it's not too difficult to take the phone apart. Yet it's not the easiest phone either most repairs on this one shouldn't be too difficult. Now I'm going to go ahead and put the phone back together once all your screws are back in place, apply new adhesive and reapply your backplate and flip over your phone power it on, and you're done.
