OnePlus 9 Unboxing, Color Comparison & Review with Camera Samples

Do, you miss me, hey, what's up guys Joseph here from tech droids and welcome back to another fun video on the channel, and today we're going to be taking a look at the OnePlus 9, the more affordable flagship from OnePlus for 2021. , let's unbox it and take a look at the box accessories and also check out all the three colors and do a little color comparison, so astral black winter mist and arctic sky. Those are the three colors that the OnePlus 9 is available in, and we'll also take a look at the differences between the OnePlus 9 and the 9 pro why this is a cheaper flagship, what corners they had to cut? What were the compromises? Some of the decisions they had to take to sell the OnePlus 9 for a more affordable price, but basically, there's gonna, be everything you need to know about the OnePlus 9. So with that being said like this video, so you know get subscribed to the channel and hit the notification bell. So you don't miss out on future uploads like this, but with that being said, let's get started all right. So, starting off with the unboxing and talking of the box itself, it's pretty much the same as the OnePlus 9 pro and so are the accessories, but again lifting that lid up first things first is gonna, be the OnePlus 9 on top and peel that plastic cover off, and it reveals that really nice and attractive winter mist finish, which is similar to the morning.

Mist color in the OnePlus 9 pro it's attractive. It looks good, but it's very hard to keep clean, and I know away from fingerprints and smudges, because it is a finish that attracts fingerprints. A lot next up, you have the warp chat, 65t charger, which is absolutely amazing. It's included in the box, and it's fast. It gets your phone up to 100 in like 40 minutes, which is amazing, and it has an USB type-c output.

So again you have an USB type-c to type-c, cable included, which is the red signature. OnePlus cable. Now, if you want to connect to an older, PC or laptop you'll, have to buy an adapter because USB type-c c isn't there most of the devices that are. You know like three years old or something next up, you have the documentation and all the reading material. So you have your quick start guide a letter from the CEO of OnePlus, the sim ejector tool, some stickers.

You know the star values and the warranty information. So it's all boring stuff. You shouldn't be reading it, but it's there when you need it. So that's that and the last thing in the box is going to be this free CPU silicone case. That's included now the OnePlus 9 pro cases are better the ones that are included they're, more premium, better quality.

This one is just pretty generic OnePlus case that came with the OnePlus 8t and also comes with the 9r it'll, keep your phone safe from drops and scratches and give you some extra grip. But let's say you want a better looking case. You can get it from OnePlus officially, or you know, get it from some third-party vendor, but that's pretty much it for the unboxing experience now, let's start with the OnePlus 9 and my full review, alright, so starting off with the OnePlus 9. Let's first talk about its colors, the design and the build quality it's available in three colors astral black winter mist and arctic sky and the build quality on this phone is going to be slightly inferior compared to the OnePlus 9 pro. So you have a gorilla glass back with a plastic or polycarbonate frame.

Although it looks like metal or might even feel like metal, it is not metal, it is plastic, so the whole chassis and the frame of the phone is plastic, and that's where I think they've done the compromise or cut the corner and the OnePlus 9 to make it more affordable. It does not feel as premium to hold and to use compared to the OnePlus 9 pro, and it's going to be less durable as well, in my opinion, compared to metal. But it's not a bad thing: it's not a bad phone, it does not creak or bend, or you know it's not weak. It is going to be durable. It's very solid, in my opinion.

Still you know. The build quality is pretty sturdy, but it's a big trade-off, because the phone costs, 50, 000, rupees or 729 dollars and plastic is just not acceptable at that price, and I don't know what OnePlus is thinking when they're making this kind of decisions, but yeah the nine and nine pro I think, should have had the same kind of build quality. Now talking about the three colors you've got astral black winter mist and arctic sky. Very you know different and unique to each other. So talking about the astral black color.

This is totally opposite to the stellar black and the carbon black and the OnePlus 9r, and the nine pro this astral black color is got this shiny, glossy piece of glass on top with a deep black background. So it's gonna, take fingerprints and get smudge it up very easily, and it's going to be the hardest to keep clean. It's going to be very difficult to keep this color clean and away from fingerprints and smudges, and it's going to be very visible, very easy to see when there is a lot of scratches and fingerprints on this. You know color, but you can put a case or a skin to hide that, but then you're totally going to hide the design and the beauty of the phone. So that's that I am not a fan of this astral black color, but let's say you like black.

You can consider it talking about the know: winter mist, it's pretty similar to the morning mist color from the OnePlus 9 pro, so you've got a silver. You know phone with a glossy shiny glass on top again this is going to get fingerprints and scratches very easily it's going to be visible very easily, and this is going to be even harder to keep clean and away from fingerprints and smudges compared to the astral black, because this is like a mirror. So it's very easy to see like you, don't even have to look for it, and you'll know the know: phone is looking dirty, so yeah you've got this shiny, mirror-like finish towards the bottom, and it's becoming more frosted, more matte as it goes towards the top. So that's going to be the difference, and the last and my favorite finish the one I recommend in the OnePlus 9 is going to be the arctic sky. The arctic sky finish has got this matte soft touch finish towards the back: it's not glossy, so it's going to take less scratches less fingerprints.

It's not gonna, be visible, very easily, very easy to keep clean and carry on this phone, and it's the more comfortable to hold as well. In my opinion. So yes, this arctic sky, this blue color phone, in my opinion, is the best finish in the OnePlus 9 and that's the one. I recommend, if you were to ask me, so those are the colors and build quality. Alright, so talking about the design of the OnePlus 9, it's pretty much the same as the nine pro.

So, if you watch my nine pro review, you'll know what I mean: there's one change that the telephoto camera is missing, so you've got three cameras on the back for the OnePlus 9 and four on the nine pro, and you know. Basically, everything else about the design remains the same, but the built-in materials has changed now talking about the specifications and the performance of the OnePlus 9 you've got the snapdragon 8 chips with 8 or 12 gigabytes of ram and 128 to 256 gigabytes of UFS, 3.1 storage and a 4 500 my battery that supports warp charge, 65 t which can charge up your phone up to 100 in like an r. So that's really fast and performance on the OnePlus.9 is great. It breezes through the UI in android, 11 and oxygen OS, and everything feels fast and smooth. So if you like to do heavy stuff on your phone, like video, editing gaming photo editing.

All of that is going to be no problem on it. You can do, and also just day-to-day normal tasks like watching YouTube videos and using social media emails. Browsing all of that stuff also feels pretty good, so multitasking, switching through apps. All of that is good, there's, no starters or jitters or lags anywhere. The phone does not, you know, feel slow is what I'm trying to say and performance is good and talking about software you've got oxygen OS on top of android 11.

So again it's going to be very stock. There's going to be very little bloatware or extra features that have been added by OnePlus and most of it is going to be useful, and it's not even bloatware. It's just. You know: OnePlus apps, like OnePlus community and the store and stuff like that. So there's no bloatware whatever you need you'll have to download on your own.

There's no pre-installed apps here they're, not taking away the storage, it's very clean, very refined and very smooth and pretty much stock android, so yeah, there's extra features that are hidden into the oh. You know UI, but they're not like forced into you, like not shoved up your face, like you have to use this, like some other companies and thankfully there are no ads in OnePlus software, so yeah you're going to get updates really quickly on the OnePlus 9 at least so performance and software is a big plus point for the OnePlus 9. And now talking about the display on the OnePlus 9. You've got a 6.55 inch, full HD plus super AMOLED display with 120hz refresh rate. Now this is not a LPO panel.

So again, there is no variable refresh rate here, but the bezels are thin, and the display does go edge to edge and there's a small punch hole cut out towards the left for the selfie shooter. That's going to be the 16 megapixel camera there's also in display fingerprint scanner which is towards the lower half of the phone, and it's kind of too low, as some reviewers have pointed it out, and the display experience itself is good, coupled with the speakers and the Dolby Atmos support, I really like it so for gaming watching videos, Netflix, Amazon, prime, it's going to be good. You've got wine, l1 certification here as well, so watching videos and playing games and just scrolling through the UI doing normal phone stuff. This display is very enjoyable, in my opinion, so in terms of display there are no complaints here, it's good. It gets plenty bright.

There's you know, inky blacks, the detail is there. The dynamic range is good, and it's sharp- and I really like this display, and it's not as bright as the OnePlus 9 pro, and it does not have that. You know dynamic, refresh rate like the OnePlus 9 pro and not having those two things is not a big dealbreaker for me, so it's pretty understandable. You know from one plus's point of view, so that's that now before we get to the final verdict for the OnePlus 9, we have to talk about those cameras which are again tuned by and made in collaboration with Hasselblad. So you've got three cameras on the back: a 48, megapixel main sensor, a 50 megapixel ultra-wide and a 2 megapixel black and white camera.

You also got a 16 megapixel selfie shooter. Now this main 48 megapixel sensor is not the same as the OnePlus 9 pro. So do not be confused. It's a different sensor. It's a slightly inferior sensor.

Now the photos and the videos that come out of the OnePlus 9 are good, they're, very similar to the OnePlus 9 pro, at least in good lighting conditions, and the colors are natural, very true to life. There's not a lot of post-processing, not a lot of editing, and they're, very muted colors. So you know if you are into that kind of photos, if that's your style you'll like it now, there's a big deal, breaker in the OnePlus 9 camerae and that's gonna, be you know the lack of is. There is no optical image, stabilization on the OnePlus 9, so for things like nights cape, so you know nighttime photography as well as taking pictures of kids sports animals moving stuff. You need is.

If you don't have the most stable hands, it really helps. So all the stabilization in the OnePlus 9 is done via software. So that's going to be as electronic stabilization, but apart from that, the camera app is pretty good. You've got the Hasselblad pro mode here. Super slow motion, portrait mode, all the basic stuff is here, and the camera app is fast.

The pictures and videos that come out of the OnePlus, 9 and good day lighting are sharp, detailed, good, dynamic range, and I like them, the colors are good and the hustle blood you know way of doing things is showing here, so they're, very natural photos, but not having is is a big deal. Breaker for me now coming to the final verdict and the conclusion for the OnePlus 9 is that there's a lot of trade-offs here for 50, 000, rupees and 729 dollars in the US. The OnePlus 9 is a good phone. It has good value, but some trade-offs do not make sense like the lack of is. The lack of the telephoto camera like you could have just taken off the black and white sensor and given us the telephoto camera, and we would be happy at the end of the day, and you know the lack of wireless charging in India, the lack of IP rating and also the lack of a lot of 5g bands not being supported here in India.

So that's you know just things that don't make sense to me. Why is there no wireless charging, or why there is no water resistance? Why is it country specific and also the plastic? Build quality is a big deal for me like I want my phone to feel premium if I'm paying 50 000 rupees, just like any other 50 000 rupee phones, so yeah. Some of those trade-offs do not make sense to me, and I'm just pointing it out, I'm not complaining or hating on the OnePlus 9. It is stuff that is worth mentioning, so I just have to bring it to light and let you guys know so. You know you don't get deceived into the whole flagship, OnePlus 9 stuff, it's a good phone.

It has good value, it is value for money and price to performance. If you look at it, it's a snapdragon, 88 phones good display, good cameras, good battery life, fast charging is there, and it might even look good to some people. So if you want to save money, you can get the OnePlus 9, it is going to be. You know better value compared to the OnePlus 9 pro. But let's say you don't mind having an inferior processor, you can go with the OnePlus 9r, which makes more sense to me.

You know in that price range. It is 10, 000, rupees, cheaper, and it's going to be the better value for money, phone, better bang, for your buck. And if you want to know more about the OnePlus 9r, you can go check out. My unboxing and full review of the OnePlus 9r it'll be linked towards the end of the video, as well as in the description and that's pretty much it for this video guys. I hope you guys enjoyed.
