All right, hey, what's up guys it's Roy here and, as you can see, I got here in front of you, the new OnePlus 8t. Now this is the T-Mobile version. So, as most of you know, I have T-Mobile. So I did a job from my OnePlus 8 to this device at T-Mobile. Currently, it's 749. You are able to get a 50 off discount, if you, I believe, add a new line to your um plan or even trade in a device.
Maybe you have to do both. I'm not sure if I can't remember, but either way uh for the price, not a bad deal. To be honest with you. So with this video just want to do a real, quick unboxing, I'm going to try to keep it under 10 minutes and then kind of boot. It up and just kind of show, you all real, quick, just a little of the new android 11 or oxygen OS 11 on the phone out of the box, and we'll go from there.
So without further ado, let's dive into the box here, so you got the Ferrari red color that they're known for lately, so very simplistic, simple box, nothing special! So you got the at branding there. Of course, you have OnePlus 8t plus 5g there, which for T-Mobile they've added that plus in there for the name of the phone got the OnePlus logo there OnePlus branding there and then on the front on the top. Here, as you can see, it says: OnePlus, 8t, plus 5g. This is the 256 gig of storage version and, as you can see, the color is gray. I believe it's called lunar silver.
It could be totally wrong on that, but it is the silver color, not the aquamarine color and then on the back. It has a little of a breakdown of what comes with the phone, so it's the 5g NR capable snapdragon x, 55, 5g modem. So obviously it's 5g quad camera setup, guys that have the new warp charge, 65 in it and, of course, the 865 Qualcomm snapdragon chip, big beautiful 6.55 inch, full HD, AMOLED display and, of course, the 4500 William battery and then once again oxygen OS based on android 11. So with this being a T-Mobile version, one thing that I noticed is: there's not -mobile sticker on the side anywhere. So usually, when you have a T-Mobile device, it has that on there.
So when you open it and break the sill, it reminds you hey. If you decide you don't want it, then you got to pay restocking fees. So none of that on here. So that's cool. But another thing I noticed is of course on the kind of the spec breakdown.
There is nothing about ip68 water resistance rating, so I did notice on the OnePlus 8. I believe when I did my unboxing and review of that, I'm 99 sure that it did say ip68 on the back of the case, but I could be totally wrong on that um, but either way. I know it is ip68 because everyone has said it is with T-Mobile and even T-Mobile itself and other big YouTuber reviewers, but either way it doesn't say it on the box. So no big deal. So let's go ahead and open this up.
So I did just get this today. I only have been able to just really open it turn it on and kind of boot. It is up real, quick to kind of just install everything for the video, so it wasn't just super slow or lagging so with the box. You do get this here. So if you pull out everything so whoops this flung over here, so it has the terms and conditions there.
You get some new stickers. So I always like the stickers that come with these. I got that and then your welcome start guide. So it has a little. You know pamphlet here about just the start guide for the phone and then, of course you get your sim guard sim card, ejector tool and sim card, so there you go so put that to the side here now: here's the phone itself, but I'm going to go ahead and just put that kind of to the side as well, because I want to go ahead and show you the accessories that come inside the.
So you are getting the new um warp charge 65 with the phone, so it has a little, beefier cable. So obviously it's the recognizable red and white charging cable, but this go around you're, getting type c to type c. So usually it's type a to type c. This is type c to type c, obviously, to help with that superfast charging and then, with the new power brick that you get, it looks very similar to the old ones that you usually get has a one plus branding there. But the only difference.
Majorly is the USB port not type a port there, so other than that looks very similar to the old one so put that there and then let's go ahead and just kind of close. This back up put this over here. Actually I'll put this right here and let's check out the phone. So let's get this bad boy out here. So there is the silver I really, really like it.
So it's a matte kind of finish on the back. It's not glossy like the aquamarine color. So it is a more of a matte frosted finish on the back. It is silver, but when certain light it does kind of almost look like a tint of green, a little so or even blue, sometimes so, just depending on kind of how the light's hitting it, but either way so with the phone itself um. Obviously it looks a little different from the OnePlus 8, so you have the bump.
Here. That's pushed off to the side looks very similar like a Samsung device or something like that has the quad camera set up and then on the front. It is a flat display versus the curved edges like on the OnePlus 8. So that's awesome, absolutely love. It phones feels really really perfect in the hands.
I believe it's around 188 grams. So it's not the lightest thing in the world, but without a case it feels perfect right now, and I can touch my fingers. So that is awesome too. As far as aspect ratio of the phone now to talk about just the design of the phone a little. So of course you have your familiar volume rockers.
On the left side, you have your alert slider on the right side. Of course, with your power button on the top, you have the mic input there and then at the bottom. You have another mic input, your USB port, your speaker, grille cutout, and then, of course, your sim card ejector portion there, obviously no expandable storage, so no SD, but just for your sim card. Now, as far as the front of the phone goes, it is a big beautiful. Let me go and boot it up real, quick.
This big, beautiful 6.55-inch full HD AMOLED display, so the blacks are very black. Very deep. The colors are very vibrant, as you can see there that bright, pink with the T-Mobile uh boot up there uh, you got your selfie punch out there at the top, but with this phone here, as you can see, it has the new wallpapers animated wallpapers. So when you turn it back on it just kind of boots up like that, but I have noticed it does take a minute. It says this processing request, MCM client, requests or processing, so it takes a few minutes for whatever reason for the widget to pop up there.
So I thought that was kind of weird, but either way is what it is. But with the front screen like I said it is 6.55 inches. You are getting the 120 hertz super buttery smooth display here. As far as that goes, so it's a big change for the 90 hertz that the OnePlus 8 has, so that's a big win. It is looking once again a flat display, so it does feel a little better when you're trying to grip the phone itself, it does have the in display fingerprint sensor.
So it's a optical sensor, just like all the other ones, is very quick, very snappy when it comes down to it. Now, as far as the selfie punch out there, it is just a single punch out hole just as usual and then, of course, with the um speaker grove here you can see here. It is very similar to the OnePlus 8 speaker grilles. So it's not the super long one like the 7t. It's just right there like the 8 and the 8 pro.
So I do like that and then, as far as the back goes um, let's go ahead and just go over some real, quick specs. So with the quad camera you're, getting 48, megapixel, wide angle, lens a 16, megapixel ultra-wide and then a 5 megapixel macro, and then a 2 megapixel depth sensor, which is a monochrome um sensor or lens, if or whatever you want to call it. So it doesn't actually take pictures. It just helps with the lighting. If you take black and white pictures.
In my opinion, I would have rather them just dropped the five megapixel macro and the depth sensor and just went with a good telephoto lens. But that's just me. I think those are kind of more gimmicky when it comes to these, but in my full review, I'll kind of test them out and put some pictures up, and we'll see, but, like I said, I'd rather have a telephoto lens, but that's just me and on the front it is a 16 megapixel single hole, punch, uh, selfie camera there. So as far as the recording capabilities go, it can do 4k, 30 and 60 frames per second, and it can do 1080 at 30, 60 and 240 frames per second for slow motion and then on the front it only records in 1080 30 frames per second. So I wish it would record in 4k in the front, but at the end of the day it's not a dealbreaker at all, um, it's fine.
It looks good still now with everything being said, on that the charging capabilities of the phone is fantastic. With this new 65 watt charger, it is a 4 500 William battery um, so you are going to easily be able to get a full day out of it. I haven't been able to test it since I did just get the phone today um, but from everything that I've seen a lot of reviewers are saying that you're getting zero to 100 in about 39 minutes, which is absolutely insane. So if you're, someone who is big on wireless charging, unfortunately you're not getting any wireless charging on this, but I think that 65 watt charger makes up for that. In my opinion, so not a huge dealbreaker, but uh yeah other than that guys.
I don't know if there's really anything else, I need to go over until I have my full review of this phone. So with that being said, um there's the unboxing of the OnePlus 8t from T-Mobile.
