Oneplus 8 Pro | Home Screen Settings |App Drawer | Hidden Feature | Layout

Home screen settings for OnePlus, 8, OnePlus, 8 pro users and the fastest way to access these settings. Basically, you can long press on a blank spot of your home, page or home screen. I should say, and you'll see an option to the bottom right that says home settings now as you dive into that there are some areas that we'll just quickly go over, so one of them being the add an icon to the home page, and this is, if you just downloaded an app it will automatically put an icon in the homepage section. For you, then, next up, we have the swipe down to access and what that is. This is going to allow you for this shelf section, which is going to give you some tools, like a toolbox, a wallet and a few other things that you can access and if you have that check, you're not going to drag from the very top of the screen, but a little passed down, and you pull it down, and you see this appear instead of your usual uh, set of icons from the top like the the drop-down menu with the butt instance. Okay.

So if you want to just go ahead and long press go back into home settings, and you just go back into that section and change it to the other way around the other one is the Google search option and if that is on, if you're, currently in the home page settings, and you swipe from the left to the right, you're going to be taken to this uh google search section here, which is like instant just access to google search instantly right. So, let's go back to that and of course, if you don't like that, you can also go ahead and turn that off the fourth one is double tap to lock, and it's a really neat cool one which, in a blank spot of your home, page where there are no apps, just double tap it, and it's going to lock your screen for you and, of course, if you also have the double tap to wake feature which is in another section of your phone, this is going to be very, very useful. So we'll go back now to home settings, and now we're going to talk about the launcher layout, and this is basically you one. It's the home screen only option, or you will have the home screen and a drawer option. Okay.

So when you choose the one with the drawer section, you will see uh, there's this tiny little arrow, pointing up which you can just kind of swipe up or tap on it, and it's gonna access all the apps like an app drawer. Okay, so you swipe it up like that, and you'll have access to all the apps that you have downloaded on your phone right. So that's one of them and then, if you don't like it that way, you can go back to the launcher layout, and then you're going to go and toggle the one that says home screen only and when you enable that make sure you check the check mark to the top here, to save it, and then you'll notice, it will load up for you and then now all your apps will be on the right side, so you'll swipe to the right, and then you'll see all the apps. You have on your phone, but this time around, if you swipe going up, so we'll go back to the main home page here and there's no arrow to access the app drawer. So you'll access this sort of search here and if you wanted it that way, that's how you would have it changed! Okay.

So if you wanted the other way with the app drawer, then you would just go back and change that around okay. So it's totally up to you and basically once again, you'll have to choose one of them and then select the check to the top here, which is kind of like a save, and then it will show you this quick loading, and then it's going to save it for you, and you're back to the other way around and by default. When you get your phone, it's going to have the app drawer for you. So let's go back to the home settings and I just got confused here long pressing it when it shouldn't all right so uh. Next up we're going to go and talk about the drawer itself right so from launcher layout.

Then we have drawer, then we'll talk about that there, where you can actually access all the apps in the drawer. So it's just showing you the little animation a preview and then, instead of having all the apps like in a drawer presented to you, the second one is a quick search. So when you pull it up, it's going to give you like this keyboard thing where you can actually type the name of the app. If you know what it is, and it's going to quickly pull it up for you, which is pretty neat and of course, once you get used to it, I believe it is actually the faster way and then next up, we got a notification style for the drop-down section where all your notifications here uh here are in this section here. So it's a lot to cover here, and one of them is showing you all or don't show any notifications on the lock screen.

So while you are on the lock screen, you can either choose it to not show or show some or show everything, and then you can actually choose to hide sensitive information, and I'm assuming that the system just knows what is sensitive versus what is not sensitive. Okay, so you just have to trust OnePlus for that this time around, and then you have the advanced as you tap on that. Basically, you have a few more options, and you can just go ahead and just play around with that snooze. You guys suggest actions and reply which is kind of like an automatic thing to um like automatic suggestive replies where you can just choose it, and it will reply. If you have an incoming message, you can just choose like quick replies without having to type anything which is pretty cool.

Okay. So let's go back to the home settings and then now we're going to look at the icon pack. Now icon pack gets kind of weird and crazy, and the reason is when you go into that you're only provided with two by default. Pre-Installed. The third one here is um.

I downloaded that and where it says more to the far right when you go into that just go ahead and save that every time you make the change, and now you see the icon pack has changed. I recently downloaded that one, and it's for free, but the section where it is for free, and you can download them from the play store. Some of them just pay attention to the rating. So we'll go here now, some more and just pay attention to the ratings and how many times they were downloaded by other people and users, because you don't want to download something, that's awful and then sometimes it might cause like errors on your phone. So I went ahead with that one because they had a pretty good rating and more than a million downloads, all right.

So that's the icon pack, and then we got the home screen layout, which of course will help you by setting up your grid style, which is four by six five by five, and they got three by five, and you just go ahead and choose the one that is best for you or, however you like it, then you have the icon size, which is the size of the app icons. You got three sizes, you got small medium, and then you got large, which you don't really see them, expand too much in different sizes and then the other one to the far right is hide app names. What that is when it's on? Basically, it's not going to show the name of the app underneath, so I'll. Just turn it off and then turn it on. So if it's off it will show the name of the app and if it's on it will not show the name of the app and of course you want to hit that check mark every time you make those save changes.

All right so add a little mistake here. So I have to go back into this part of the video, so we'll go back now again and continue in here again. So again, just quick repeat here. So basically this is your grid set up here, and then you just choose grids. Okay and, as you make the changes, it will show you how you have made your changes again, the icon size, all right, it's a different icon size and then, once again, the hide the names for the app alright.

So if it's off it will show the names and if it's on it will not show the names and again once you make. Those changes in this section be sure to hit that check mark to the top right, which will save it for you, because if you back out of it, you can either discard it, which will not save anything that you just changed, or you can just hit the check mark and, of course, for video purposes, I'm not going to save it, and the last one is a very cool one, which I actually did a video on it separate. I will be uploading that soon or maybe already uploaded, and basically it's hidden space and what that does. It's already enabled, and you just have to learn about it. So you'll use your two fingers and split part ways like this and notice.

It's asking me to use my pin or fingerprint, and that's going to take you to a section where you can actually hide apps on your phone. You can tap that plus there, and it will take you to this section with all the apps, and you just choose an app now keep in mind some apps. I noticed that, even if you hide it there, and you can actually choose to save it, you can actually choose to save it with a password or without a password and of course, I always recommend it with a password, because the security is just going to be way better. So Google Chrome will still show up, so there are some apps that will not be hidden regardless of it. So now, when you go back to it now, I'll show you now how to actually remove it.

You're just going to have to long press the app, and you'll see where it says, inside and I'll remove it, but some apps do actually go hidden, and I notice it works with messenger, even Instagram, and so you want to hit that check mark every time. You add it and then just of course enable the password settings, so I'll show you now in the app drawer section, you're not gonna, see um messenger, which means it is actually really hidden. So if anybody ever goes into your phone despite um well, if they go to play store- and they will actually see that you did download it, but if they're just going through all your apps, they will see that it's not there. So you can hide it with a password and no one will ever know that you actually have messenger on your phone and of course you can always go back and inside it, and it will be removed and then back to in the app drawer section all right. So it's a lot of cool features.

Here again I did a video on that separate. Do like share subscribe turn on notifications, if you're new to my channel, and thanks for watching I'll catch, you in the next guide, see ya.
