Hello, I'm Matteo the chief mobile opinion list at tech travel geeks, and this is the unboxing and first impressions of the Nokia 1.3, an inexpensive entry-level smartphone from Nokia running android go edition based on top of android 10. If you don't already, please do subscribe to the tape travel geeks here on YouTube right, then I've just taken ownership of a Nokia 1.3. This is in reality the successor to the relatively inexpensive and successful Nokia.1 and running Android go just like. We saw the Nokia 2.1 when we unboxed and gave some first impressions of that on the tech, travel geeks YouTube channel right, then packaging as we've come to expect of Nokia is quite simple. It has a little strap here that gets undone. We can then cut through the plastic holding the tray in place and out of the cardboard sleeve comes the packaging with a device front and center before I go into.
What's in here, let's look at the rest of the contents. In this case this is a UK device. It has a UK travel plug, which is a 5 watt charger which is running 5 volts at 1 amp. So very low power: this is a low powered device powered by a very, very long power chipset, so not surprising. There USB type a 2 micro, USB cable, so this is micro, USB, not type C, and then in the Box.
We have a bit of documentation, getting started for the Nokia 1.3 and the Nokia products and safety information, but more it's most importantly, the Nokia battery. This has a removable battery. The Nokia 1.3 has a removable battery, which is a 3000 William hour battery, which will slip squat into the device. The device itself comes in a nice little plastic. Sleeve first impression is: it has a textured back its goods, not too slippy and feels very, very light, but that's because the battery isn't in place of Manila, there's no clear places to put your fingernail under to get the back cover off, but we know that from previous Nokia devices, putting your thumb there and pulling out does the job.
So there you have it. You see that this is the Nokia 1.3 and the battery very simply swats in this is a call back to the days when this was a common feature of smartphones. Now the great thing about this device is that it is a dual SIM device, so it takes two separate SIM cards and a micro SD card at the same time. So in this case the micro SD goes in the top slot on this side and the NATO SIM in this case will or micro we'll find out in a moment I'm going to take my IOM out there. We go so in this case a NATO SIM slit slots into the side, underneath the micro, SD and there's another spot here for another NATO SIM, so dual SIM, plus micro SD, and then you just slot the case back on.
So the Nokia 1.3 is perfect value for money in the UK. At the moment you can pick one up for a bound around about sixty pound sterling, as I said bit plastic. Now that the batteries in place on the sim and micro SD, it feels a bit more hefty, but pretty good feel, and it's tight there's very little give in the plastic. It doesn't creak much, which is reassuring right, I'm, going to turn this on, and we'll see what this screen is like compared to the original Nokia one. This has a much bigger, clearer screen and, as we can see, it says, powered by Android go edition.
Android good edition is a cut-down version of Android 10, in this case optimized for devices with 2 gigabytes of RAM or less the Nokia 1.3. This model has one gigabyte of ram as purchased here in the UK, as well as 16 gigabytes of storage, which we've just expanded with a 64 gigabyte micros card now I'm going to pause this for a moment and do the setup and then come back to you and give you a few first impressions, hello. There, ok I'm back I've set up the device updated it as of today, which is April 18th. There was no operating system updates for the Nokia 1.3, but there weren't quite a few Google Play updates for all the pre-installed apps. So this is, as I said, Android good Edition, which means everything is optimized for low storage and low memory and a relatively low powered chipset.
This is running the snapdragon 215, which is essentially a four or five-year-old watch chipset, which has been used within a film now with the Android or EO website with the androids 10 good Editions. This seems to be quite smooth, even though this has a relatively high screen resolution. So this is a 720 by 1520 screen and, as you can see, it performs quite smoothly, and I've been trying out things like messaging browsing. The web using Google go and everything is, as you can see, here, go Edition apps and even Gmail the gallery, the Google go. It's all go addition, which means very low amounts of storage, are used, and they're relatively fast.
On this low powered chips in the downside is that there's less stuff that works offline even YouTube, go it's essentially a glorified web interface. But apart from that, my first impressions are really positive about the Nokia 1.3. It feels perfect to hold. The hardware seems solid with that: little powered, chipset I'm, expecting perfect battery life, and the only thing I would say is the text messaging works, and why should you type you realize that there seems to be some haptic feedback going on the background, but it's very, very light. So that's something to bear in mind if you like, a nice, powerful, haptic feedback from vibration, when you press keys, you definitely don't feel that it's very, very soft, so I might as well turn it off and save some battery life.
Apart from that, I have to say the Google messaging works great as expected, and it immediately connected to the RCS or rich texting service. In this case, you can see I'm speaking to my partner Candice, and this is actually sending the messages over Wi-Fi, because she too has an RCS, enabled device, she's running Google messages on her Huawei device, and so we can message without having the cost of SMS and, as I said, the user interface is really fast and snippy for something so low powered for 59 pounds. This is great value for money, and not only do you have a well-built device, you even have the Google Assistant button built in so this allows you to press the button. Who are the tech? Travel geeks? That's interesting, so you have the Google Assistant button on the side. Here it seems to pick up my voice really fast.
I haven't seen a result yet and apart from that, even the Gmail go or everything seems to be in perfect working order. Now this is an ideal device, because it's also pretty good for media. The high resolution screen and YouTube go as well as YouTube music. Allow you to have the lightweight experience for accessing YouTube videos such as this tech travel, geeks, unboxing of the Nokia 1.3. So, as you can see, it works if we search for the tech travel, geeks you'll find not only our channel, but our most popular recent videos and the screen is really nice and clear.
It gives you an option. I was how to stream. You want certain standard quality, high quality or data saver, which is something the normal YouTube app I, don't believe has you need to manually, go and check the settings in the video itself, but, as you can see here, a bit of lag there between going to full screen and getting the full screen. But apart from that for watching YouTube, this is a fantastic little device with a 720 screen. That's high definition, so that was our first impressions of the Nokia 1.3. Not only will you II have a full review of this Nokia 1.3 after these first impressions and unboxing will do a comparison with the original gangster, the original Nokia 1 and maybe put it up against some other, similarly priced devices on the market. At the moment, this is an incredibly important segment, especially for people who are travelling, who might need to purchase a device because their existing one doesn't work, or they want to avoid roaming charges. The Nokia were 1.3 for context is probably the price of a charger for an iPhone or one of the new wireless chargers for android smartphones. So for a very low price, you get a functional device, which is probably a very good media player as well. So we'll do a full review of this, as well as comparing it to other devices and give you maybe some more in-depth insights into Android go, but for now, thanks for watching this unboxing of the Kiev 1.3. And if you don't already, please do subscribe to the tech Travel X here on YouTube.
For now goodbye, and thanks for watching.
