Moment Lens Case Vignetting for Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

What's up my ponds andy vlogs excited to share with you guys this content here. The tile suggests we're going to be going over some vignetting lens distortion and a couple of tests with the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra, and the moment case that just came out. This video is going to be entirely shot on the s21 ultra, so you're not going to be able to see any shots of the ultra. What I'm going to be doing is switching the lenses, as you see me, zoom in and out and whatnot, and showing you all the differences between the lenses before we get into the tests here. I just want to let you know where my bias is. None of these products were provided to me complementary.

I purchased these all by myself and this is an independent review and test of this case. With that said, I do have links down below in the description that do help out the channel. If you guys want to support, it's really appreciated. Let's go ahead and test out these lenses on this case all right, so I've got this backpack case for a moment. It's really awesome: it can hold up to two lenses.

This is going to be some of the ones that we're going to be reviewing today, the 18 and the 55 millimeter 2x tell. I also have metamorphic gold and metamorphic blue, and I do have the filter mount. So we will be showing you what all of those look like here today, I'm going to be behind the camera. The first test is going to be on the 1x wide I'm going to go ahead and put the 58 millimeter on it. You can kind of see, as I placed it on there, the difference here.

Um, I'm in very harsh light. It's its definitely noon, but you are seeing some vignetting on the edge here. It does darken not so much on this side. I am noticing it, but it looks like the Samsung Galaxy s.21 ultra is definitely compensating for. What's going on, I'm going to pan and zoom, and you can kind of see what happens as the optical image.

Stabilization is trying to keep things stable. It is wobbly nonetheless, that's because I have a bad tripod. Okay, I'm going to freehand it here. As you move, you can kind of see the fringes here, go dark and light, that's because it appears that the lens that's doing the optical image stabilization is, you know, cropping in and trying to make sure that the edges of the lens aren't showing you know any of the actual moment lens, but it's not too bad. If we take it into a less contrast area, I am I'm not seeing so much of the vignetting, but when you start moving panning and tilting, you can start seeing that there is some vignetting as we zoom in right before we hit the second lens, it's much cleaner, you're still able to get both when you, you know, come close to a subject on the 2x.

That looks really, really good blurring out the background and the laser focus is really awesome, but I'm not seeing any issue with vignetting on that. Okay, now we've placed the 18 millimeter wide on there. As you saw um this just from an initial impression standpoint. I am seeing some certainly some lens distortion as I'm panning back and forth. The optical image stabilization is kind of doing weird stuff, with the picture as I transition from left to right, you can definitely see that there is's extra distortion.

However, I think that can be fixed if you zoom in a tad to like 1.2 you're, not getting so much of that. However, it kind of does it do like hesitate, as I pan from left to right up to up down. Let's go 1x again, I'm not seeing any lens vignetting on this harsh, not seeing any lens vignetting in this harsh sunlight. Here, let's go back over to you know a more moderate shaded area you can see. I can tell that there's lens distortion for sure, let's go ahead and see if we can't get that both again yeah.

It is very, very impressive. The lens here you know on the Samsung does give you nice depth of field when you're really close to a subject on the 18, when it's flipping back and forth you're, not seeing any vignetting, as you can tell that the know, lens itself is zooming in and out it's focusing in and out. Let's get real close to a subject, I don't see any vignetting happening when we're really, really close, but you can still see there's massive lens distortion as opposed to iPhone. I'm not going to do a side side-by-side, but just in general there is all right, so I've just gone ahead and switched the lens out with now the filter lens. So this is not giving you any kind of zoom, but this is giving you a ND filter.

Now 37 millimeter filter mount, and this is going to be nice for shooting cinematic in very sunny areas. This is a ND 32, so this is going to give you. You know a lower shutter speed, which is going to be nice for video and whatnot. I'm not seeing any kind of lens vignetting at all. I'm also able to zoom in all the way.

Almost all the way, almost to three, you can tell there's no vignetting as well with that zoom in this is zoom 2.7x. Okay, as you can tell here, this is going to be completely different from all the other ones. This is the metamorphic gold, as you can see by the 1.33 aspect, ratio with the black bars up and above this one out of all of them, I believe, is having the best experience. I'm not seeing any kind of lens distortion, I'm not seeing any weird stuff going on, as I pan as I tilt up and down you're, not seeing any kind of vignetting as it looks like the lens itself is able to clear and that it doesn't have any problems we can zoom in almost to 3x, and we're not getting any kind of any kind of vignetting we're not getting any kind of vignetting as I'm at about 3x 2.7x in a less contrast area. Here you can see that it looks like the optical image.

Stabilization is, is actually doing really. Well, I don't feel it lagging as I'm panning and tilting. You can still see that the phone itself is kind of lagging as I'm as I'm moving back and forth. Trying to stabilize that that footage I am noticing at the apex of the fence here, that it does kind of vignette, but as as I stretched it if it's not as prominent getting closer up to this subject here now, showing the depth of field you're still seeing that as it switches from close to short, that there isn't much of an impact, and you can't see any kind of vignetting where the contrast is much less, and it's shaded you're still getting perfect detail, you're, not getting any kind of vignetting problems as I get real close as it laser focuses. No vignetting problems tilting all the way up to the tree, see if we can't get that lens flare there.

It is baby. Oh, the metamorphic gold is so pretty. Thank you all right folks. So we've got some issues here. Going on, we've got some white balance issues, as you can see here.

This is the 58 and 3x. So it's giving you basically a 5x zoom, and it's all over the place. There's! No! I I I don't want to even like deal with it um. It doesn't focus right. It's not it's not having that the lens and the Samsung lens aren't able to really like work together to give you a clean shot.

So, as you can see, I mean if I try to zoom in it's getting real blurry. I don't know what's happening there. Okay, I've just placed the 18 millimeter lens on the 3x tell lens on the Samsung, and it's giving you a good shot, it's much better than the 58 2x tell, I'm able to actually focus it looks like the white balance, isn't freaking out so much as I take it off of the tripod. I'm getting some issues with this optical image, stabilization, it's starting to like kind of freak out and wobble as I pan and tilt, I'm really keeping it as careful as I can, and not trying to wobble. But, as you can see, there's a lot of issues within the Samsung phone itself.

It's not able to you know have that nice optical image stabilization. Just when I zoom in right before 10x, it's it doesn't optical image stabilize and then, as soon as I hit the 10x lens, it just goes right into position. But, as you know, the 10x lens is not does not have the mount. Let's go back under my canopy here, and this is a very much you know, zoomed in shot, I'm going to try to focus on this subject here and see if there's any both, I'm seeing some light. Fringing like if you look on the highlights of that um slide, it's like fuzzy, it's almost as if it's got a flare going on.

I don't know what that is. It's just. The software is not able to really work with this lens when it's attached. It doesn't like it. Let's go up to the tree and see if we can't get anything happening here.

I am seeing some distortion going on as far as the lens, however, when I shoot up at the light you're seeing some weird things happening all right. Obviously, as it looks, this is the metamorphic gold. This one, I think, is going to be your best bet. If you want to put it on the 3x, it is very much zoomed in, but you're getting a nice. You know nice wide angle.

I think, in my opinion, less vignetting, but it looks like the optical image. Stabilization is trying less hard as the other lenses, but I'm still seeing a weird white balance issue. It's making all the shots. Look really orange all right, I'm going under my canopy here, giving you a less harsh light, condition, see what that looks like it seems like when I'm moving around there isn't much of that jitter, and I'm now placing myself right next to this uh. The subject here see if I can get that blur with the focusing, and it looks like you know, the aperture is changing significantly as there's less detail.

When I, when I change the focus on this rope, that's tied up and then when I change it to the rope, you can see that it's auto adjusting there, which isn't optimal for shooting. You want to have a stable, shutter speed for sure. If you want to shoot cinematic stuff coming up to this tree again, you know for the last time it's looking good. I think we're getting some weird contrast issues. Then we point ourselves up at the tree with the put ourselves up in the tree to the sun, and you're, getting that double flare, which is kind of cool.

I don't know like double flaring. Well, I guess that was an interesting test there to show you guys that there is some vignetting. There is some distortion on the fringes. Ultimately, all the cases do have some issues and some vignetting that's unfortunate. They did work on this for a long time, and I'm guessing the way that they built the adapter on the phone and the limitations of the lens and all the different mathematics that this was kind of the sweet spot.

So nonetheless, I think it's still the best in the industry. You really don't have any other option out there for the s21 ultra so check down below in the links in the description if you're interested in these products. Thanks again, though, so much for supporting, my name is Andy with any vlog setting out.
