Meizu M6 - Unboxing & First Impressions!

So this is the 100$ Meizu M6. I've used it for about a week by now, and these are my first impressions. So right away, I can tell you that the phone does not feel like a 100$ phone. The back and sides are entirely covered with metal, and the device feels really solid in the hand. It's also relatively slim at 8.3mm, just a few mm thicker than the 7.7mm iPhone X for example, resulting in a device that's easily usable with one hand. In terms of specs they've managed to cram in a 720p 5.2" IPS display, the MT6750 octa-core processor, 2 or 3 GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of expandable storage, a fingerprint sensor and a 3070 mAh battery. Oh, and there's a headphone jack too.

The display is still sharp enough to enjoy media and read text, with good brightness even outdoors and decent viewing angles. So far I've used the M6 just for some light web browsing and social media, and the processor handles these tasks no problem. Apps are not as snappy as you'd find on a flagship device, but then again this is not trying to be one. What surprised me the most is it seems to handle gaming too quite well. I've tried the most accurate and scientific benchmark ever, that is Asphalt 8, and so far I've found no visible lag, which is impressive.

The rear 13MP camera seems pretty decent, with okay dynamic range and good sharpness. I've done a few tests and it seems to handle high-dynamic range scenes well, even though the built-in HDR mode can often produce artificial looking results. Battery life seems really good so far, with excellent standby time and good screen-on time. Both the large battery and the low-resolution display are probably helping out a lot here. So, I'll wrap it up here for these first impressions, just wanted to give you guys a quick overview before my full review.

So far I'm really enjoying this phone, especially for the price, but I'll need a couple more weeks to give you a more in-depth experience. Of course, don't forget to subscribe not to miss the actual review when it comes out, and as always, thank you so much for watching, this was Gio, and I'll catch you guys in the next one!.
