Meizu Live Super Review - Legit SURPRISED

On this super review. Let's take a look at the maze live, so we've got here is an in-ear monitor from the company maze, which you might have heard of before in the context of making cell phones. This here is a four balanced armature driver earphone that I'm reviewing, because a lot of you guys in the comments asked me to I. Thank you for the suggestion. These things were not cheap. However, these things cost around a hundred and fifty dollars, but for that you get four drivers per earphone and those are Knolls balanced, armature drivers.

You also do get stoppable tips on orally stoppable, filter tips on the earphones and I think that's kind of cool. Another thing that's worth pointing out is that I think this is actually the heaviest in-ear monitor box I've ever held. Does that mean anything for the sound or the quality of this earphone I? Don't know, let's go and open it up and find out all right. So I've spent a lot of time over the past week, listening to the maze live and just to start, I just wanted to say that I didn't realize is going into this just how very much inspired these things were by sure's, specifically sure's SE 846 I knew that this earphone was definitely targeting Shores, just in terms of the looks and the general presentation, but I didn't realize how much these things had in common with those sure earphones and if you're not familiar with the SE 846. That is a $1,000 earphone.

That's got a very similar look to this. It's also got four balanced armatures per ear, and it's also got a very, very similar, replaceable filter system very similar and like similar enough that it's definitely not an accident that these things are similar. That said, we're gonna talk about this earphone and, to start with, let's talk about the fit and the build of this thing, this general fitting style, and I've tried other earphones that are like this from you know like the file fh1 or the shows Ian Neo CP, this general fit is, is my absolute favorite I want every in-ear monitor to fit like these things? Do I don't need customs I, just I just want them to fit like this? There's something about the way that this thing you know curls around your ear, and it plugs in it doesn't take up a ton of space in my ear it doesn't feel bulky at all, but it feels very secure, creates a nice seal gives me nice isolation, and it's just super, super comfortable, so I'm really super happy with the general build of it. Aesthetically I think these things are also very, very handsome, and they're. Pretty simple, like it's just clear plastic with you know like a small metal plate in the back, and you can see the balanced armature drivers inside it, and it's relatively simple.

It doesn't even look especially expensive, but it is does somehow feel it does somehow look nicer than what it is right, and I think it's just it's just a spotless execution. You can look inside and see those bad rivers, and they're just nicely packed in there and organized, and it doesn't look sloppy just yeah I, don't know overall pretty happy with the build of this earphone. Interestingly, the Daisy lab does come with a pretty nice selection of ear tips, including a whole set of foam tips and a whole set of silicon tips, which I guess is fairly, fairly average and fairly normal, but the tips themselves are not totally typical, so the foam tips that they supply actually all have filters in them, which I think is kind of interesting, and I'll. Be frank. I didn't do a lot of experimentation with those foam tips and that did come with the foam tips on it by default, but I didn't play around with those too much I would expect that those filters would play into reducing the treble a little and I didn't have any issues with the trouble here.

So, for me, I'm happy with the silicone tips. The silicone tips themselves are also kind of unique in that they're. Just they're, like they're super thick, like three C's thick and I, like it I, don't know, there's something about the tips here that these things they're they're, not the same tips that you're gonna, be seeing on your average in ear, monitor and frankly, I found them quite nice. The one thing that's worth calling out is that the nozzles on these earphones are quite, quite small, quite narrow, and what that just means is that if you have a selection of ear tips, you're used to using and swapping on different inner monitors, they might not fit here. You're going to need something with a narrower bore, something that's you know made for like an automatic, earphone, or I suppose, probably a sure earphone and interestingly, the maze live, has what I think is probably the best implementation of a stoppable filter system that I've seen at least so far and it's a mean it's fairly straightforward right.

You've got these metal nozzles on the air, phones that screw off, and you've got different filter versions that screw back on that much is pretty typical, but what makes this I think especially nice, is that one, the carrying case that they actually come with most of these other systems that are these other earphones that have tried with filters. They just give you at best a little plastic container, one in which the filters kind of jangle around, but the carrying case here is actually really smart. It's just a nice little silicone arrangement that holds the kind of like little sleeves, and it then buckles up together into this little metal container. That has a little caring on it. You could carry it around near keys if you're really into it, but that does seem kind of weird to me.

The other thing that's pretty clever about that little metal carrying case is that it actually doubles as a tool for removing the nozzles. You can use the end of that. That carrying case is a screwdriver. Essentially, that said, I would be pretty careful with using that I. Don't think that you really need a tool like that, because you're dealing with tiny threads here, and it's very, very possible for you to over, tighten and perhaps strip those threads if you're too strong with it, I think finger tight is gonna, be plenty for you, but if, if for some reason it gets on there too tight at least I think it is worth using that tool to loosen it.

I just wouldn't use that tool to tighten the filters here. The last thing that I'll talk about with the build quality is this cable, which I'll be frank, I'm? Actually not a big fan of this cable. In fact, I've been using it with a different cable I've, been using it with a this cable that I've got because I really like that cable, and it is especially good match on these earphones, this cable, that it comes with I, think it looks nice, it's a little a little wiry and stiff for my taste, which I don't know. That's not a huge complaint. The bigger issue for me is that one it does have a remote control on it which I'm not the biggest fan of, but it does at least work on both iOS and Android.

I confirmed that. But for me really, the bigger issue is that down on the connector, it's just kind of a loose fitting connector, and it doesn't stay my Walkman very well and on a couple of different players that I plugged it into it, seemed like it was especially sensitive to you know, being rotated and having some sort of stat icky sound come through the earphones I. Don't I, don't like dealing with that, because I walk around with this thing as like a portable, a portable earphone has its kind of made to be, and what I'm doing that I'm likely to be moving the player in my pocket. So that's just something to keep in mind: I'm, not a big fan of this cable. It's not terrible, but if you're getting this thing, I would plan on replacing it, and that brings us to talking about the sound of the maze alive and right off the bat.

I. I've to be honest. This is not my preferred tuning. My preferred tuning, like I, just kind of like a nice clean, even mid-range, with a little of a little emphasis in the upper mid-range for some vocal presence, I like a little trouble and I, don't need a ton of bass and what these things do is well. They've got quite emphasized bass.

They don't really have that emphasis in the upper mid-range that I like so much and the treble is its a little rolled off at least kind of in, like the lower treble. If that makes sense- and frankly, look I have not heard the sure sc8 46 right- that's, which I think is what their target was here. So I don't actually know if these things sound like those shores and, frankly, I, don't know if I would even like the sound of those shares. Even though there are a thousand dollar earphones, I, don't know I'm, not sure what the tuning is all I know is that right off the bat, my initial impression was it sounds cool, but it's not what I'm after but then I just I kept listening to them, and I'll be honest. This earphone grew on me way more than I thought, even though this is not the exact tuning profile that I'm, typically looking for and uninitialized art by talking about.

Let's just talk about the base and there's emphasis in the bass, but it is very nice and tastefully done. It is super, super punchy and I would say of all the balanced armature earphones, I've heard. I think this is my favorite bass, it's just it's nice and sharp. It feels full, but it doesn't ever feel booming at all. It doesn't feel cloudy or muddy at all.

In fact, I would say like the overall signature of this earphone, it is a warm sounding earphone which again not my favorite, but somehow it is also achieves like a level of like it almost sounds clinical in a sense right and for me I. Don't know I find it really just kind of oddly appealing the again that base is nice and tight. The mid-range is relatively even there's, not a lot of emphasis in the upper mid-range, so vocals don't come forward. Vocals. Are there's still a lot of room for them because well the balanced armatures in this earphone are doing a really nice job and everything sounds really nice and separate, and in its own place we don't have that vocal presence that I typically like, and then the treble region is fairly relaxed, which means that there are no issues with siblings here, and I think most people who are trouble sensitive are going to find this.

You know pretty comfortable to listen to, but there is actually a decent amount of extension in like the upper treble regions like I, don't know I'm just making up numbers but like above 10k Hertz, there is still some treble and what that? What that effect is that it just gives this, even though it's kind of a treble light earphone, it gives it a nice sense of air and I sense of space and a nice sense of the kind of micro detail that I like to get in my treble solo. This is not the sound signature that I'm typically looking for this is bass here that I'm typically looking for, and it's warmer that I'm typically looking for, but for some reason, I think it's just like how tight and cohesive everything sounds. I find this earphone really, really pleasing to listen to, and this is going to be one that I go back to very often so out of five stars. I got to give them. Maze live a very solid and enthusiastic 5 stars again.

The sound signature here is not exactly what I was looking for, but I ended up, loving it more than I thought. I could love a sound signature like this. It's one base II, but just clinical and still analytical in a way that I didn't think this sound signature could be, in fact I. Think of all the earphones that I've got that I would describe as bass. This is easily my favorite.

One of the reasons that I took the plunge on the sea-air phone was I, was just really attracted to the style and the and the fit and the build of it and in reality it's every bit as good as I had hoped. So, overall I'm just really super happy with the maze liven again. This is gonna, be an earphone that I keep going back to if you're interested in checking out the maze live. Of course, I've got links in the description down below while you're down there. You can hit the like button for the video.
