Lightning to USB and HDMI adapter-It actually works!

What's up guys tau here this is official Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapters, and this is official apple to apple, lightning, to HDMI adapter. Now a lot of user asking and trying to connect these two together and try to get HDMI and USB 3 at the same time, but it will just not work now. The reason being is, if you use one of the lightning to HDMI adapter now this extra landing port only supports charging. It does not support. A data. Go through does not support sync.

So, there's no signal output from the extra landing port at all, so it doesn't matter what you're going to connect to it. The signal will not come out from the additional lightning port. So if you use one of the lightning to USB adapter and if you use USB to HDMI, it just will not work because simply there's no signal go through, but now there's a new kit on the block. Here is the lightning to HDMI and an USB adapter. Now, just bearing in mind that this is not apple official product.

So after about a week of trying and testing, I am almost happy about this now. The first four is the actual, build quality, the old plastic, but they actually are quite thin. I can, it's actually hollow inside with the apple fish ones. It's quite heavy, and the fuel is quite substantial now. The second is actually the joint the connector.

Now this is quite loose. Um, it's in long term, I'm kind of worried about the longevity of the connection, so that might get loose inside. If that is the case, the adapter is going to be rendered and usable to fully test it. Let's go through each port to make sure it works the first one. Let's go through the charging port.

Here I have an anchor power bank, and then we're gonna just plug into the charging port, see if we charge the iPad and let's switch on here, we go it's charging. That means that's working now. Let's just try the USB port. Now we're going to try without the external power supply just to see if it works um, but if it's like the official upper one, it just says, use too much power. Now, that's just to see oh okay! Well, so this actually is recognized the external USB stick now.

This is an USB 3. Stick here we go now is the file on there if I tap on them, and it should just play um here we go. That's it, so there's no lag play quite smoothly and yeah good stuff. Now just to be curious. Now here I have an USB power meter.

Let's just to see the power output uh on the fish one, and we're going to try on the Ana fish one. So with the fish, one is 5.10 volt and if you plug into an USB in, and it is dropped down to 5.02 volts and the 0.10 amp, so simply it cannot power the USB. And now, if we plug the unofficial one here is the anguish one and plug into the power meter, and that will tell us 5.10 volt same voltage. Now, if we plug the USB stick in the voltage, maintain the same voltage did not drop, so that is good stuff, so the amp page is 0.10, so that is the same. It consumed everyone about 53, 54, 0.53 and what so that's quite stable. Now I suspect this adapter will constantly draw the power from the lightning port, and it doesn't really care about the battery in the air 2.

, unlike the official one, it's just trying to preserve the battery life inside the iPad Air too, and that's why it just says: use too much power, so there's a good thing and a bad thing. So, if you do use this, the power drill will be pretty quick with the external USB stick without the power, so yeah. If you do use that just be prepared, battery drilling is going to be a lot quicker. Now we're going to try the USB transfer speed here, I have an USB 3 stick and I will just transfer a file onto this and see how quickly it's going to transfer here. I have a file about 227, 228, meg bytes, and I'm going to transfer to the stick and to see how fast a will transfer and if I just let go.

Okay, here is the one minute that is four seconds uh one minute 35 seconds from the iPad to the us ball right: let's try to transfer a file from the stick to the iPad and just to see how fast it going to go. The speed really depends on the USB and let's try. Ah, here we go. This is about nine seconds so yeah, because the reading speed on the USB 3 is a lot quicker than the right speed. So, here we go here, you see it transfer.

Speed is really quick. Now we know the USB stick recognized by the air 2 uh without the power supply using this adapter. Now, let's just try on the phone um here I have an iPhone 10, an iPhone 10, so the 10r runs on the iOS 14 developer versions 2, the beta 2 and the iPhone 10 runs on the 13.5.1. Now, let's just see, if you recognize it first, let's try the iPhone 10 on the 13.5.1 and if I plug in and as you can see here, I recognize the stick and recognize the content. Let's just play something and yeah here we go, it plays so runs perfectly without the external power supply.

Now, in terms the iPhone 10r, I tried early on, so the tiny logo come up or the icon, so the kind of little external drive, but when I unplugged it the icon stays stable, it didn't really disappear, and I really hope that is the glitch of the iOS 14, the second beta. So if I plug in it, doesn't really show anything, there's no message and if I plug in the power and yeah, so literally there is, there is nothing showing. So I believe that is a glitch of the iOS 14, the second beta, and hopefully they're going to fix that later on all right. Next, let's try the HDMI port. Here I have a monitor and I will connect to the HDMI port and see what happens now, the way to connect to the iPad.

You can see here it says air OTG adapter, so which means this adapter kind of mimic, the airplay or the Apple TV, airplay or any airplay. So there's a chip inside trying to a full iPad. So to look for an airplay device, so if you go on the control center, here's a screen mirroring, and you can see the air OTG adapter. So once you tap on that, and it will automatically connect to it. So, as you can see here and now is working now, the first thing I immediately notice is just a tiny lag between each gesture, so which means the refresh rate is a bit low, and I can see it's not very smooth.

So between the pages I can see the motion and compared to the official Apple Lightning to HDM adapter. So this on this, the motion is a lot smoother, and also this adapter does not support HDCP, which means I cannot play copyrighted content. For example, here I have an Apple TV, and it's a service, and this is the morning show, and I'm going to play an episode and just to show you now it recognizes it and like that and stops if I click on play on the iPad now carrot plays on the iPad, but I stopped on the screen and also let's try Amazon. Prime video here is the prime video, and here is a bonus official trailer and if I play on that it plays on the iPad, but on the screen, you can see a will not play so again, because the trailer this trailer is copyright protected. Now, let's try to connect this USB 3 stick to the adapter.

Meanwhile, the HDMI is connected and just to see if it recognized everything here we go, and here we go. That is the USB stick and that's the content, and if I play- and here we go so yeah it plays. So what do I think about this adapter um overall, in my opinion, actually is pretty good with actual physical build quality. It's plastic same as the apple fish, one which is not big deal that one just a cosmetic in terms of functionality. It does require occasional, unplug and plug back in and that applied to the charging port and applied to the USB and yeah.

So occasionally you have to unplug and plug back in and just to make sure the adapter recognize it and also my biggest concerns are the heat. So at times, if you use HDMI and USB stick and the charging at the same time, the temperature reach up to 60 degrees Celsius, which is pretty hot within this tiny enclosure, so that might have a serious impact in long-term run, so the components constantly dealing with high heat. So I don't know how long that's going to last. So if you are watching in terms of making this, please make a better design either with a metal, so it can spread heat a bit better or with some kind of ventilation, so that will be better idea just to dissipate the heat a little better and also the connection between the cable and the casing. So literally it's really loose.

Now, if you constantly use like this or with angle, you constantly plug in and unplug it now, this bit, in my opinion, might be the first to go wrong. So if that's the case, this adapter is going to be completely useless. The biggest advantage of this adapter is the ability to connect to USB stick via the USB port to the iPad, to the iPhone without external power supply. That is huge plus. So a lot of you is going to be very happy to hear this so yeah, but at the moment the iOS 14 on the iPhone, the beta 2 version, there's a glitch, so somehow it doesn't recognize it, but the current version, as of this video, the iOS 13.5.1, recognize this thing without any problems. So overall, I am kind of mostly happy, but I wish there are some improvements for the future versions.

Maybe so, holding on is a really, really good idea and a very good alternative to these two very expensive adapters from apple good job. All right, that's been it. Hopefully you guys enjoyed the video, and hopefully you guys found this video useful. I will leave the purchase link of this adapter down in the description. If you guys interested- and I will get small kickback if you go through my link and if you did thank you very much and yeah so see you guys in next video.

You.
