LG G8 Thinq ($260) VS LG G7 Thinq ($140) In 2020 - Which Budget Flagship Is Best For You?

What is up guys today, we're going to be looking at the LG G 7 verse, the LG G 8. Thank you in 2020, so the G seven right now is going for orange. Excuse me, the g8 is going forward to sixty right now, and you can get the g7 for two or 140. So, as you can see, that's a hundred and twenty dollar difference here in definitely something to think about. So we all know that the g8 is definitely a better device, but is it going to be enough for you to pick it up? 120 bucks? Are you know it's its a lot of money to me at least to spend it on a phone, so you might not need to spend that 120 bucks. You might be fine out with the g7, but let's go ahead and find out all right, so you have the same design on both these phones, the same kind of setup, both glass and metal design on here you have the dual camera setup on both a flash fingerprint scanner, LG branding on the right side.

You have the power button and then on the left side you have your volume rockers and your Google Assistant button now down below you, have your USB type-c boombox speaker in your 3.5 millimeter jack. Alright, the first kind of big difference here is going to be the display. So you have an IPS 6.1 inch, 1440p display 564 for the PPI always-on display on the g7 and then only g8. You actually have app OLED display. It is a 6.1 inch as well so same size, 1440p 564 for the PPI. They both have the little notch up top with in front facing cameras.

Now the g8 is definitely more color accurate since to scout that P OLED display and its overall just a better looking display to me, but as far as like the displays them. So if you have pretty much the same bezels as I say the same, not you know, so it just really comes down to deeper for IPS or the Leola. Now the advantage of the P OLED displays. Obviously you have that always-on function, but you do have that only g7. It just drains the battery, though so, do remember that and yeah, so you get just more functionality and just better battery life, but this display here all right, let's figure out which speaker is louder because I think the g7 speaker was louder, but I'm not sure if this is my first time actually comparing them.

So let's go ahead and find out. So the g7 speaker is actually louder for some reason. I wasn't expecting that, so it is louder. So I don't know if there's something wrong with this model, but a lot of people have said that as well. So you know, for me, definitely sounds louder, a little more thumping on the lg7 here.

Alright, so you do have NFC on both these guys IP ratings on both in micro SD cards, support on both, so you're, not missing any of those features on both of these phones. All right. Let's go ahead and run a little speed test here, three two ones. So as you can see VGA slightly faster, as we would expect once I had kind of my animation stutter on the g8, there try a camera's. You can see the g8 just the faster device, as you would expect for an updated model.

Now, let's talk about getting into the phone, so you have the same method of getting into the phone. You have your fingerprint scanner on the back boom. They both work very fast, no issues they're both very, very fast, and you have your face unlock, and then you have your palm unlock thing on the g8 which to me, it uh. It works. If you just have to do it right so boom, as you can see, I just unlocked it with my palm.

You have the coffee hand, ideas what they call it and that's pretty cool. If you don't have your hands tied up, so you do have that extra. You know unlock feature on there. Now, let's talk about camera, so when the g8 you have a 12 megapixel standard and 16 megapixel ultra-wide in the camera. Design on here is actually flat, which I love, I, don't even think I own the phone with a flat camera design.

That's really awesome, you don't see a lot of phones with a flat camera design and on the g7 you have a 16 megapixel standard in a 16, megapixel auto. Why both of these guys shoot in 2160p, you have an 8 megapixel, a selfie on the g7 that shoots in 1080p, and you also have an 8 megapixel selfie on one of the g8 that also shoots in 1080p. Now I've been taking photos with both of these phones and the g8 is definitely the better camera here. So if you're, really in the cameras, that would be the way to go, is the g8 because of the color science and overall sharpness and clarity. Sometimes images can be a little soft on the g7, and you can both download G chem if you want to get better images on both these guys, but as far as in stock camera, the color science is just excellent on the GA.

It's really, really good, very close and real to life here, as you can see, with this close-up shot on the mic very, very nice both, but, as you can see, the g8 just does a better job. Keeping that detail here, and it's just a slight difference- it's nothing like you know, unless you're just really into cameras, you'll be fine with both these guys. Now on the umm g7, you have a 3000 William battery 18 watt fast charging wireless charging as well will get you around 6 hours and 30 minutes to seven hours and thirty minutes of screen time, depending on, if you're a light or a heavy user. Also, on the g8 you're getting very good battery life, you have a 3,500 William battery with 21 wide fast charging. So this one charges faster, which is always a bonus.

You don't want to be sitting around waiting for your phone to charge all day. So having that extra charge, speed is definitely a very nice. For me, at least you do have wireless charging as well and um. You know the battery situation, you're going to get better battery life on the g8, as we would expect in one of the things I dislike is again that OLED display does make a difference. If you try to use the always-on function on this IPS display, it will drain the battery faster from what I've seen and if you got all the cool stuff that you can do with this OLED display put little widgets up here, like this calendar or whatever you want, and that's just very handy.

So as you can see, not a huge difference between both these phones, they have a lot of the same features. It's just that the g8 is going to be the more future-proof device, so I feel like if you're not gonna, upgrade for a couple of years, like two years at least other than the g8 is the way to go. If you're constantly, you know upgrading phones every year, then you might just want to go with the g7. Save your money sell. It then buys another phone or something like that.

But if you're trying to find a phone that you're gonna stick with for a couple of years, you don't want slowing down when the newer versions of Android come out, then go with the g8. Also, if you're into cameras go with the g8, that's pretty much it as far as game, and they both play games are very well. You do have a more color, accurate screen on the g8, but a lot of people just don't care about that. That's so uh! What do you guys think? Which one are you guys going with? DG aid or the g7 Y, be sure. Let me know, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.

You.
