Kyocera Hydro Elite Review

Hi everyone today, phone arena is taking a look at the Kyocera hydro elite, which is currently available from Verizon Wireless for $50, with a two-year contract. The Kyocera hydro elite is a pretty much a standard. Looking a black tab, a smartphone here, really nothing out of the ordinary with its overall appearance up on top. Here we have a 1.3 megapixel camera, and we have a 4.3 inch display with 720p resolution. Because of that text and images, it's going to look nice, sharp and crisp on the display, and, as you can see, it actually has the standard on-screen keys instead of using a capacitive key. So it's a pretty much going to be a stock Android experience there on the left side of the Vice.

Is the volume rocker up on top? Is the 3.5 millimeter headset jack and the power/lock key on the right side is the microUSB port? Now one of the key features of the hydro elite is that Kyocera claims that the device is waterproof. Now what that means is its a splash proof and also water resistant and can withstand about three feet? One meter of a water submersion for up to 30 minutes now the way that it does this is taking off the battery cover. You see, there's an orange Oh ring surrounding the battery compartment. The battery cover pretty much just flips right on and off there and seals the compartment. Now, in our opinion, even though it's water-resistant, it's not nearly as resistant as what you're going to see on the Casio gz1 commando, which actually has a locking mechanism for the battery cover.

Also, a Kyocera says that the phone should not be submerged in salt water, which is pretty much the sea or a chlorinated water, which would mean a pull. It's pretty much designed just withstand tap water or fresh water, so kind of letdown there and, like we said it's pretty much designed just for moderate water resistant or 30 minutes up to 3 feet. So it's really not going to have the extra durability military standard certification that you're going to get on the Casio gz1 commando. It's basically designed for people that want a mid-range phone that can withstand getting wet. On occasion the Kyocera hydro elite comes running, Android, 4.1.2, jelly bean, and it's pretty much a stock Android experience. I have a total of seven home screens.

It can go through pretty nice and fluid due to the 1.5 gigahertz dual-core processor and the 1.5 gigabytes of RAM, also going to the app drawer here nice and smooth quick response also across the bottom. Like we mentioned earlier, you have the icons right on the screen here for back home and also recent apps. So it's pretty much a stock Android experience, which is not a bad thing. It doesn't lack any extra themes or customizations on, except you know, basic stuff like choosing your wallpaper and ringtones. So it's pretty much a stock Android experience for web browsing.

We have the standard, Google Chrome browser which works pretty well and is pretty much the standard. These days. Kinetic scrolling is a pretty quick, just a hair of a stutter. There also pinch-to-zoom works pretty nice as well, because the 720p resolution text and images are going to look a pretty decently sharp here, even though it's a 4.3 inch display. So a really no issue here regarding the web browsing experience.

The camera interface is a laid out pretty well, it's a pretty simplistic design that when you go into the menu setting here, it's actually a quite a lot of a setting you can choose from such as the picture size, brightness, white balance, different picture modes as always a different scene mode. So there's actually a quite a lot of a selection here that you can choose from. Unfortunately, the actual picture quality on the device is not that great pictures that we took outside really are unremarkable. Colors are lifeless and dull pictures really have sort of a dingy. Look to them really not that impressed with the outside images here with the 8 megapixel camera inside images.

Again, nothing really impressive here. The flash doesn't really do that great of a job. As far as a video recording this concern, it can record a Full HD videos at 1080p resolution, but again videos are just going to look really dull and dingy. So really not that impressed here with the video quality. Kyocera includes something new on the hydro elite.

It's called their smart sonic receiver technology, as you can tell it, doesn't, have a standard earpiece opening here at the top. Instead, the speaker is actually hidden behind the front Verizon logo behind the glass now. The main reason this is done is to keep water out, but unfortunately because it's hidden, it actually muffles the call quality so because that voices are going to sound a little distant instead of sounding a roll open and a sharp and crisp that we would like. So it's a bit of a downside here now on the Casio gz1 commando. They actually have an opening at the top for the earpiece speaker, which does provide a more natural full sound to the device.

Also, the included a 2000 William battery is a pretty much standard. We were able to get about 11 hours of continuous talk time or about a day and a half of mixed usage. So overall, the Kyocera hydro elite is pretty much a mid-range Android smartphone which, like we said, comes with a $50 price point with a 2 year of Prison contract. It's pretty much designed for people that just want a mid-range smartphone. That's somewhat waterproof like we said it can withstand splashes and water submersion up to 3 feet for 30 minutes.

It's not going to have that extra layer of ruggedness and durability, but you're going to get on the Cassie gz1 commando. We do like the four inch I'm, sorry 4.3 inch, LCD, 720p, display text and images. Do look nice and sharp on the display. It's also a pretty compact overall fits pretty nice and well in the hand. Unfortunately, the 8 megapixel camera is really disappointing.

It's pretty much. The most disappointing thing on the device. Pictures are just gonna, look Roald Dahl and many looks and really not that great, also because the earpiece speakers hidden behind the front glass call quality. Its call quality is okay, but if you're just going to have a little of a muffled sound to it, so really not the best there for the $50 on contract price, it's not a bad device that it's really not that great either um. If you really want something more rugged and more compact, then you may want to look at the Casio gz1 commando, so to find out some more information here about the Kyocera hydro elite visit our website at phone arena, calm, seas,.
