iPhone XS Max Review + Camera Test

Hey guys are Matt here welcome back and today this is my impression, video for the iPhone 10s max, so I have the 64 gigabyte model right here now, I have it in the new gold color, which is actually really nice. You have this really glossy polished gold, look around the actual outside the phone and then on the back. You actually have sort of a white with a slight tint of gold to it. So I think it keeps it nice and simple and doesn't make it too clingy or tacky now in terms of the display, its 2688 pixels by 1242. So that's a PPI of 458, which is really crispy. It's a 6.5 inch display. You have an OLED panel.

The colors are vibrant, everything's, nice and crisp. Although you do have the notch, you still have them out to the top there. So when you're, watching your videos in 16:9 aspect ratio- and you pinch to zoom in their still will be a part of the video missing because of that notch, but overall, the actual quality of the display. The contrast, the way it pops out it looks incredible. It's one of Samsung's displays, and it looks excellent- can't really fault it.

It's super, super bright brighter than my note 9 and the finger detection is at 120 Hertz now, so it's really responsive to the touch. The only thing is because the screen is so big. You actually can't reach the top without using two hands. So if you want to pull something down like the control center or your notification panel, then you're going to have to use two hands or assistive touch now in terms of face idea is a little faster than last years. It's not crazy, fast, still, not as fast as something like a fingerprint scanner, but it's almost getting there.

It's actually pretty quick and overall, the angles that can unlock from is actually pretty impressive, but after unlocking the phone, you have your usual iOS interface. One thing: that's slightly different on the new models is: if you go into your wallpaper section, you have these new live wallpapers. These are really awesome and to the 3d touch, they actually go ahead and move and warp, and they look really, really nice. So I'll leave the links down below. If you want to download those wallpapers for any other device, because I know some of you guys will ask, you still have 3d touch I, don't really use it that much, but it's still our if you want it, but pretty much.

Everything else in this phone is just software updates, so iOS 12 makes it faster it's more efficient and creates more storage space on your phone and there's obviously a few more features and things you can tweak here and there, and you obviously still have CERN. Have you simply hold down the power button similar on the iPhone 10? It will still pop up I personally prefer Google Assistant, but you know serious still, err. You have some new options to actually create your own commands so that, when you say set phrases, it will do certain tasks, but that's pretty much it. The only new features are the camera, the screen, the size and just incremental things that are faster inside the phone, but realistically, when using it, it's going to be a pretty similar experience to when you're on the iPhone 10. Maybe a little snap, you here and there maybe a little quicker load times on bigger games I'd.

Obviously you have the better camera. If you're waiting to see my camera comparison or camera test, that'll be the end of the video, but right now, I'm, just going to move on to do a benchmark tests using Geek bench for, so I'm, actually pretty curious as to what it's going to get, because on my ass, nine I was getting about four thousand single-core 9500 multi-core, so quite curious to see what I got here. It's 4821 single core, which is higher than my last nine plus also 11 thousand for 236 on multi course. So the new iPhone is actually pretty good in terms of Geek bench compared to something like the s9 or the note 9. Obviously, in real-world usage, these are going to translate differently.

For example, apps are definitely not optimized for this new Macs version, there's actually a few apps where graphics overlap and things like that, and we're just waiting for updates, but they should be pretty fast. Ios update really, really quick and there should be updates popping out here and there for Twitter Instagram Spotify, but overall from my experience and using the phone, it does feel very fluid, really, really nice due to that new iOS, 12 and obviously the spec bump, but it doesn't feel a lot faster than the iPhone 10 from last year. If you're getting the max version, it might be worth upgrading. But honestly, it's not really worth the upgrade from the 10 to the 10s. Unless you want to get a max version or something like that, they're very similar, you have the new color, a slightly better camera, slightly better screen a little brighter screen faster face.

I'd, that's pretty much the new iPhone right there, but now, let's just jump into the camera, because I said it would do a test pretty much. The camera app is exactly the same. You get 4k as 60fps 1080p at 240 frames a second. You still have your on emojis. Furthermore, you have a seven megapixel camera on the front and a 12 megapixel camera on the back.

Furthermore, you still have the two-tone flash as well as the two lenses on the back. One is wide-angle and one is optically zoomed now the camera bump is actually a tiny bit bigger than last year's iPhone 10, and you will notice if you pop it into a case from last year's iPhone 10, it's a slight bit bigger, but the front-facing camera is actually really crisp and now, in the camera up, you'll saw the option to change your aperture after you've taken the photo anyway. Let's just jump into a video comparison with the s9 plus. Here we go okay, so there's an audio test here as well, so iPhone Menace, audio test, terrace, Mac's, now s9, plus, so that you can hear the difference for the sound dance airports. That was my video test.

Here is a photo that I took using the portrait mode. I think it looks pretty Kris myself. Everything really looks in focus and really nice in this photo here. The 10s is on the left and the asinine plus is on the right. Personally, the s9 looks a bit more washed out and the colors look richer, crisper and more true in the iPhones photo.

Now that's pretty much my video something else. I did pick up was actually a leather case for it. So Apple sell their usual leather cases. They have the tan leather case version it's around $55 55 pounds. Maybe it's a little of a ripoff, but it's a pretty nice case pretty premium.

It fits pretty perfect to your phone I noticed there was a tiny little gap by the camera, but overall it just fits nice and snug, and it's really premium when you're holding it when you're feeling it one downside is. It does wear a bit over time, so you're going to get some marks on it, and it's going to get spoiled a little. But overall is pretty nice if you want to get a screen protector as well, that's recommended, but overall the screen is actually pretty scratch resistant with Apple's new glass, but every guys that's pretty much it that's my impression. Video I really hope you enjoyed don't forget to comment rate subscribe. Thank you for watching peace out, guys.
