iPhone SE 2020 vs iPhone 12 Mini Speed Test

iPhone SE 2020 versus iPhone 12 mini speed test. Let's begin with a boot up in three two ones. Now the iPhone SE 2020 did launch earlier this year, and it came at a pretty low price in the 300s actually, and this one does feature an Apple A13, bionic chipset, with three gigabytes of ram, a little less than the a14 chipset and four gigabytes of ram here for the iPhone 12 mini. So you see, the 12 mini, did boot up faster than that of the iPhone SC 2020, and so before we get into the actual test. I just want to talk about how these phones both feel very similar when it comes to just scrolling general speed stuff like that and overall you're, not really going to notice a big difference, because the iPhone 12 mini does still have 60 hertz, although 60hz on iPhones are some of the smoothest in the business in terms of 60hz display, so no real issues there, and they're both running iOS 14.2. So let's go ahead and show you everything is closed out and, let's begin with Instagram, and you can see, Instagram does launch at a very similar time pretty much identical, and I did this test before actually doing the speed test, and I found that the SC and the 12 mini both perform almost identical, even though we do have an a13 the a14 not really showing a big difference.

What does feel like a difference is you've seen right there when we come home, that gesture actually makes the iPhone 12 mini appear faster because pressing home button just takes longer than you know, swiping with a gesture, let's go into Amazon, and you can see Amazon loads up first there on the left, we'll click these early Black Friday deals, and you could see very similar on both devices and coming back home? We're going to go ahead now and go into eBay. You can see eBay first there on the left, so I mean sometimes things will open first on the left, sometimes on the right again. Both of these did come out in 2020. So we're not going to expect to see a major performance difference. You are actually paying for more screen.5G dual camera you're paying for those things more, so I would say than the speed if you decide to pick up this smaller iPhone, but it's been a great year for small iPhones thumbs up. If you think it's been a great year for small iPhones, you can see loading up, Starbucks, basically identical you're, getting your coffee at around the same time we're going to go ahead now and go to Groupon, and you can see Groupon a little faster there on the sc2020, we'll go to categories, and you could see, I basically identical again we'll go into things to do, and you can see both them load that up at about similar time.

I do. I do prefer the gesture, though, to the home button when it comes to speed. It just feels faster, and it feels smoother, although the mini has been having a little of a bug where, when you swipe from the lock screen right now, at least as the recording of this video, maybe it'll be fixed by the time you see this, but definitely having a little bug when unlocking from turning off or restarting. Sometimes the numbers don't work right now, either some touch sensitivity issues. Let me know if you've been experiencing that but ESPN loads, very comparable on both we'll go into motor combat, and you could see Mortal Kombat is definitely loading up there.

First on the iPhone 12 mini now. Technically this is the new generation processor a14, but again you're not really going to notice this stuff. The a13 was no slouch, it wasn't behind, and it was still doing very well, and you could see both of these are playing games at rocket speed here. Although neither of these are my favorite phones for gaming, they don't get really warm under gaming. I mean after a long session, maybe a little but where they really suffer a bit is in the battery life when doing gaming.

So especially, if you're playing more graphically intensive games like pub g mobile, like Mortal Kombat like need for speed, you know the stuff that actually has better graphics, not those not the easy games like we're. Gonna show after this one, like cross road temple, run the smaller games. Those games typically don't use as much power, but that's one area where I don't really like these much for the gaming is the battery life gets drained a lot, both of them loaded, PUBG, almost identically, the SC just popped up that little feature before I went into the actual game match you can see right here. We do have a faster load there for the iPhone 12 mini, and we can go to yes to exit that game hit play, and that's because I was already testing those reloading the game menus, and you can see in here pretty similar. One thing you'll note is that they're pretty similar size phones, it's just the iPhone 12 mini stretches that screen on a smaller body, but these are not.

Neither of these are actually as small as the original classic iPhone. I see we'll go here to cross road. Here's another easy game. You can see the 12 mini a little of a leap, nothing too serious, and we'll go here, and the difference could be down the connections. These are so close in speed that if you have maybe a slower Wi-Fi connection, these are on the same Wi-Fi network.

If you have a slower Wi-Fi connection, one might be faster than the other. You can see that the iPhone 12 mini had that first we're going to go to learn here, we're going to scroll through here and just kind of see what we get. Let's click this right here and pretty similar, so it's going to be down to the gestures, touch id 5g, and we'll go to iMovie, and that was faster for the 12 mini, and we'll go into geek bench, and you can see that was faster for the SC 2020. So I would say over on speed. Yes, technically we have a faster chip here.

I think in some games. You're going to load up faster here on the a14, but both of these phones are very fast here and it was so close. I really can't call either one faster than the other, at least in these day-to-day applications. Okay. So what we're working with here now is four gigs of ram here, and we already have a reload for the iPhone 12 mini.

Then we have a reload for the SE, 2020 and Lightroom SE 2020 with a reload we'll go into cross road and a reload there for the sc2020. So not not a great day. Right now for the sc20 20, we'll go into temple, run very good, we'll go into PUBG mobile and a total reload. It cannot hold that in memory, we'll go into Mortal Kombat and again a total reload. There not sure why today, this phone's, just not holding these applications very well the ram management not doing great we're going to ESPN held that very well we'll go into app store, and you can see pretty good groupon reloads for the 12 mini, so the 12 mini doesn't escape this either.

The 12 mini is not perfection at ram management. You might say I'm not going through that many apps at a time. Well, maybe, if you're busy and using a lot of apps, you might still see a slight reload on either one of these phones. It's not going to affect your experience too much. You probably won't even care, but I just want to show you how these do perform if you do have multitasking going on you're switching between your applications, stuff, like that and both didn't really reload much on Instagram, so I will say that the SC definitely reloaded more applications, but the 12 mini wasn't perfect either.

I still think the pros are better in this regard, but I would state that, with the four gigs of ram, you should expect better reloads here for the iPhone 12 mini over the sea, okay guys so in the internet browser. I just want to note just look: how much screen you're getting for the 12 mini versus the sc2020. It stretches the whole panel, and it's even smaller than the sc2020 and the sc2020 is a small phone as well we'll go over here and hit start now on this JavaScript sun spider, and we'll see which one can actually refresh the page faster. This phone does have support for 5g and internet performance you're not always going to get it depending on your network, but you will get it quite a bit of time, but you can see even on Wi-Fi, just general browsing, the mini will refresh pages faster. It will run that internet a bit quicker with that a14.

So yeah, the browsing experience going to be faster for the 12 mini, but you won't notice it much because both of them are very good. At pinch to zoom, we had a little of a touch sensitivity issue right there I told you it's having some of those issues right now, but scrolling up and down you're not going to notice a major difference. Both of them will get the internet browsing done on the day-to-day just fine, but you might appreciate more screen real estate here for the 12 mini in terms of stretching out versus the SE. I know they do have different aspect ratios though, so your video does get cut off by the notch, a little where it doesn't with this traditional 16x9 panel for the SE. Okay.

So let's go ahead now and run iMovie. We're gonna. Do this similar, five or 4k clip here, and we're going to go ahead and save the video and just kind of see which one can export this faster? I will be back when both of them are done, exporting the clip, and so you can see that the iPhone SE actually beat the 12 mini on this render by like a second or maybe even less than that, it was pretty close. We're going into geek bench now, and I'm going to run a CPU benchmark to kind of see where these do stand when it comes to their overall performance on these chip sets in terms of a synthetic benchmark, I'll be back when they are done. Okay and so the final geek bench scores are in, and you can see they actually come pretty close in the single, but the iPhone 12 mini with a crushing win in the multi-core.

However, in day-to-day stuff you seem pretty darn close that could be down to that single core difference, not being drastic. So, at the end of the day, yes, the 12 mini does have a more powerful chipset. You didn't need to watch this to know that, but you see now based on comparison, that the iPhone SE 2020 is still an amazing value. It's basically the same speed. You just have to sacrifice the touch I'd home button, the older design, dual camera, so there's a lot of sacrifices with not going with the 12 mini, but this is an excellent year for small iPhones.

You finally have a smaller option now, for those of you saying no, it's not the original size of the SC. Well, I mean considering how we use our phones today. Do you really want a four-inch screen? Still, let me know down below, but if you guys found this video helpful entertaining informing. Do me a favor click that like button for me and be subscribed to see the full comparison, as I use this 12 minute a little more, I will give you an analytical, in-depth detailed review of these two be sure to be well nick here, I'll catch you all in the next episode and peace.
