iPhone 8 Plus vs Note 8 Wireless Charging Test! By Danny Winget

What's up everybody, this is Danny and since the new iPhones have wireless charging, now I'm going to see how fast the new iPhone A+ wirelessly charges versus the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. This is just a test. It's meant to see how long the iPhone, 8, plus wirelessly charges from 1%, and I'm going to use the note 8 as comparison from 1%, because this supports fast wireless charging already, and the iPhone does not have this yet, but should get fast. Wireless charging through an iOS 11 update down the road, also keep in mind that Note 8 has a much larger battery at 3300 William hours, while the iPhone 8 plus has a 2000 691 William hour battery for this test, I'm going to be using the new Samsung fast wireless charger and then for the iPhone I'm going to be using the Welkin 7.5 watt. Wireless charger is one of the charges that Apple suggests on their website, and I'm, using their respective chargers that came in the box. I got a couple questions on Twitter about cases and skins and wireless charging compatibility.

So if you want to pick up a D brand skin like this black dragon 1 on my iPhone A+ wireless charging works perfectly. So no issues there whatsoever and if you use a case like this official Apple silicone case, I didn't have any problems with wireless charging either to make things fair. I did put them both in airplane mode, since the carrier signals are different in my house, I have no background processes going I just wanted to get the fastest possible charge from both of this airplane mode does not affect wireless charging at all. The note 8 is showing fast wireless charging in states about 2 hours and 38 minutes to full charge, so we'll see if that actually holds up with that out of the way. Let's go ahead and get started, let's periodically check back and see where they are.

This will give you a good idea how much charge that you will get if you only have a certain amount of time, and you're interested in topping up with wireless charging. Alright, so here they are after 15 minutes, the iPhone is at 10%, which is not bad and the Galaxy Note 8 is at 11%. So remember the note 8 has a larger battery, so that is very impressive. We'll just keep going, and we'll check back after 30 minutes after 30 minutes, the iPhone is at 18% and let's see what the note 8 is at, it is already taking a lead with 20% to keep this video shorter, I'm going to check every 30 minutes from now on. Until the end, then we can check a little more frequently after 1 hour of wireless charging.

The iPhone 8 plus is at 32% and then the Galaxy Note 8 is at 40%, so very respectable on the note 8 side taking a commanding lead. So let's see if that changes down the road after an hour and a half the iPhone is at 46% and the note 8, let's see what it's at now it is at 59%, so the lead is increasing. For the note, 8 Samsung has had wireless charging now forever, and they're pretty much setting the standard for fast wireless charging. So you can really see that here after 2 hours, the iPhone is at 59%, where the note 8 was 30 minutes ago and now the note 8 is at 79%. So it looks like the note 8 is on track to finish in under three hours after two and a half hours, it looks like the iPhone a plus is at 72%, and the note eight is now at 97%.

So it's almost there, let's see how long it takes for the note 8 to hit 100% checking back five minutes later. The note still wasn't at 100%, but around the two hours and 41 minute mark the note.8 hits 100% so not bad at all. That's actually a lot faster than I thought. It would be so kudos to Samsung on this and the device is barely warm to the iPhone is a 75% at this time. So, let's see how long it takes the iPhone a plus, to hit 100% at the three-hour mark.

We are at 85% 15 minutes later we are at 92% at 3 hours and 33 minutes. We are at 97% 3 hours and 40 minutes. Furthermore, we are at 98%. So it looks like it's really slowing down here, 5 more minutes we are at 99%, we are still at 99%. So at this point, I was getting frustrated because we're about to hit 4 hours, and it was almost 3 a.

m. and finally, it hits 100% at 3 hours and 54 minutes. So, if you plan to wirelessly charge, your iPhone 8 plus from 1% then expect about a 4-hour charge time. So I suggest you just plug it in it will be faster, but you have to understand that wireless charging is only meant to top up throughout the day anyways. So this is exactly what you can expect when the iPhones get fast wireless charging through an update, I, will revisit this video and see how much it's improved.

But today, Samsung here is the clear winner. The impressive part about the iPhone is, after four hours of charging I felt zero heat on the device.
