Hello everyone, I'm Vic with phone arena, and today we'll see if it's worth upgrading to the brand new iPhone 12 Pro, and we'll compare it to the still available and now much cheaper, iPhone, 11 pro and also the iPhone 10s. There are great deals on the 10s right now, so I've been using the 12 pro on and off since the launch and for the most part I love it, but should you spend 1 000 on it or save a few hundred dollars and get an older iPhone or even keep your existing one? So the biggest change, in my opinion, with the 12 pro, is the slightly larger 6.1-inch screen size. Now you have that on both the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro and compared to a 5.8 inch display that you have on the 11 pro and the 10s. This doesn't sound like much, but in my experience it makes using the 12 pro a bit easier. The keyboard is larger and typing is a bit easier and faster. You get more text on screen, but on the flip side, the flat size of the 12 pro and the slightly bigger display mean that I personally don't have such a firm grip on it as on earlier iPhones, which felt incredibly comfortable in the hand.
So it is a trade off a bigger screen makes for more enjoyable use, which I think most people will benefit from, but a slightly less comfortable grip. Now, if you use your phone without a case, the 12 pro and the 11 pro, I find to be a bit better than the 10s. Why you ask? Well, they have a matte finish, while the 10s sports a glossy finish, which is an absolute fingerprint magnet, but in terms of actual materials, there is little difference between the three you have glass on the back and stainless steel on the sides. The stainless steel finish is different from most other phones on the market that use aluminum. So you get a more refined look here, but it also makes all of these phones a bit on the heavier side.
For example, the iPhone 12, the regular one which uses aluminum is much lighter than the pro now. The other big difference is, of course, the camera or cameras. The iPhone 10s really feels quite limited compared to the other two. So if you want an all-around great camera, the differences between the 12 pro and 11 pro are tiny, but the 10s really feels dated first, it lacks an ultra-wide camera and second, it lacks night mode. Now it still captures great photos during the day, but those earlier mentioned things are big limitations when you have less than ideal conditions.
As for the cameras on the 12 pro and the 11 pro, they are quite identical in terms of actual specs main camera, two times, zoom telephoto and ultra-wide. You have them on both phones and both also support night mode. The 12 pro, however, changes the colors on the photos. All images I captured on the 12 pro were brighter and had more vibrant, lively colors, and they were a bit sharper too now photos on the iPhone 11 Pro don't look bad at all, but they looked a bit more true to life, which is not a bad thing, but that also meant less vibrant and most people that saw the photos between the two actually preferred those from the 12 pro. Then the iPhone 12 Pro also brings night mode to both the telephoto and the ultra-wide cameras and goes even further, allowing you to take better portrait shots in low light, previously iPhone, just couldn't focus, and now you're using the LIDAR scanner to actually focus on the dark next up battery life.
Here again, I cannot recommend the iPhone 10s, our camera guy, Jordan has been using an iPhone 10s, and he cannot even get 4 hours of screen on time with light use and heavier use just melts the battery. In no time the 10s has a tiny 2660 William hour battery and that's the reason, but it's also an older phone, and that's also true and the iPhone 11 Pro is actually the one here with the biggest battery of the three. It has a 3050 William hour cell, bigger than even on the iPhone 12 Pro, which has a 28 15 William hour battery inside it now in our tests. The iPhone 11 Pro actually beats the 12 pro on most counts, but the 12 pro also has a more efficient chip. So the real difference in battery life between those two is not huge, really is the iPhone 10s that stands out as being way behind and speaking of chips and power.
The iPhone 12 Pro is the most powerful among the three as you've probably guessed. The a14 bionic in it is the first apple chip made with the 5 nanometer process, which allows apple to stuff it to the brim with transistors and still keep it more power efficient than ever and what that means for. You are better performance in heavy 3d games and access to features that older models can't handle. So if you're a gamer, I would recommend looking into the 12th row because of the performance, and let's also talk about some changes that aren't as obvious. The 12 pro now also comes with 6 gigabytes of ram, instead of 4 gigabytes on the 11 pro and the 10s, and you notice that in multitasking, if, like me, you have a few dozen tabs open in the browser always, and you're multitasking with a couple of apps.
The 12 pro is the better choice. The second hidden change is apple's return to Qualcomm modems with the new modem, the iPhone 12 Pro has 5g and its LTE speeds are seeing a huge improvement compared to those of the 11 pro and the 10s, and that's something that you likely benefit from a lot more than 5g these days. Now, speaking of charging, the most notable change is the addition of MagSafe on the iPhone 12 Pro, which allows it to charge wirelessly nearly two times faster. A max safe is also a gateway to a new accessory ecosystem that the other two phones won't be able to make use of. Magnetic car mounts, for example, are super convenient with mac safe, but we haven't seen many other use cases yet so, at the end of the day, iPhone 10s users have a lot to gain if they upgrade and if you have an even older iPhone, it's really hard to recommend the 10s.
Despite some great deals on it right now. Improved battery life and camera performance are the two big factors that make me recommend the iPhone 11 Pro in the 12th roll. Instead, actually, if you don't care about the telephoto camera, the best value for money offer right now is actually the iPhone 12, which has everything the 12 pro has, except that zoom camera and the LIDAR sensor. But if you value a more compact phone, get the 11 pro its battery life is a bit better than on the newer iPhones, and it's pleasingly tiny without being too small. But if you just want the very best, of course the 12 pro has many reasons to go for it, and this will do it for this video.
I hope you found it useful thanks for watching and if you liked it consider, subscribing and dropping us a like. That's hugely appreciated. My name is Vic. This is phone arena, and I'll talk to you in the next one. You.
