iPhone 12 Mini vs Pixel 4a Ultimate Comparison - Budget vs Flagship! By Chigz Tech Reviews

What's up guys, high here from chicks tech reviews. Today I bring you a head-to-head comparison between the brand-new Apple iPhone, 12 mini versus the Google Pixel 4a. Now this is a clash between two popular compact smartphones. Pixel 4a is currently priced 349 us dollars or 319 pounds in the UK and that's for a gigabyte base model and the iPhone 12 mini can be picked up for 729 us dollars or 649 pounds in the UK for the 64 gig base model. Here they both are in my hands side by side. Now.

First thing to mention is, of course, the size iPhone.12 mini is 5.4 inches and the Pixel 4a is 5.8 inches. The thickness of the iPhone is 7.4 millimeters, and it weighs 135 grams and the pixel is 8.2 millimeters and weighs 143 grams, so the iPhone is lighter and slimmer. Now both phones have the same. Full HD, plus 60 hertz OLED displays with over 400 pixels per inch. However, the iPhone has a slightly higher pixel density with a ceramic shield protection and the pixel has gorilla glass 3.

Now ceramic shield is supposed to be the toughest glass on a smartphone now quickly compare the brightness. So if I put them both exactly halfway, you can see that the iPhone has a much brighter display than the Pixel 4a. Now, if I turn up the brightness to about 80, it now matches the iPhone brightness. Now what I'm going to do is drop the iPhone to about 10 percent brightness and same with the pixel about 10 percent. So that's what you can expect, so that's 10 brightness on both screens look at the difference and if I drop the brightness down to the lowest levels, this is what you can expect.

So, no doubt here you have a much brighter and better quality display on the iPhone 12 mini. Now both phones are under six inches. The pixel has no notch and a hole, punch camera making the screen look a lot bigger than it actually is, whereas the iPhone has a full-size notch which is needed for face ID to work. Now, both smartphones are compact and easy for one-handed operation. Now build quality is no doubt different.

The iPhone 12 mini will give you a premium all glass front back with a metal frame going all the way around and the Pixel 4a is basically plastic, build with a smooth matte finish on the back. Now, the iPhone will give you an ip68 rating and the pixel has no IP rating. Now, if we talk about processing power, the iPhone has the edge with the five nanometer a14 bionic, which is apple's most powerful smartphone chip to date, whereas the pixel opted for a mid-range, snapdragon 730g. So to no surprise, the iPhone has a much powerful chip with benchmark scores of over 600k and the Pixel 4a achieved 274k. And if we have a quick look at my top performing smartphone chart of 2020, you will notice the Pixel 4a, ranked at position 49 and the iPhone 12 mini close to the top of the chart at position.3 with an impressive benchmark score of 609 k. Now the Pixel 4a can play games like PUBG, mobile and Call of Duty mobile on medium to high settings, and the iPhone 12 mini can play any game at the highest graphical settings, with everything on target's inside enemy contact, cowboy 3, electric bike.

Now this bike has an impressive range of 70 kilometers, that's 7-0 people you've got a removable battery 100 watt, fast charger and state-of-the-art features like auto unlock theft, detection crash detection, a built-in GPS and lots more. Now. Let's talk about fingerprint sensors, the Pixel 4a has a fingerprint sensor located on the back, it's nice and easy to reach, and it unlocks the smartphone pretty fast. Every single time and the iPhone 12 mini doesn't actually have a fingerprint sensor. Instead, you have their famous face, unlock, which works pretty well too.

Now coming to the cameras. Pixel has a single 12.2, megapixel camera and an 8 megapixel hole punch camera on the front. Now the iPhone 12 mini has dual cameras on the back, and this phone definitely likes. The number 12 you've got a 12 megapixel primary 12 megapixel ultra-wide, and you have a 12 megapixel on the notch. Now the pixels front and rear cameras can shoot a maximum of 4k at 30 frames per second and the iPhone's front and rear cameras can shoot up to 4k 60, including smart, HDR and Dolby Vision up to 30 frames per second now.

Both smartphones support optical and electronic image. Stabilization for super smooth, looking videos- and here is a quick video sample for you guys to check out both devices are shooting 4k at 30 frames per second, and you guys can decide which video looks better, which one has better colors, better contrast, which stabilization looks smoother, which one looks the crispiest to you guys. Let me know in the comments now both smartphones support, Bluetooth version 5. The iPhone has the newer 5.1 standard with Wi-Fi, 6 and 5g, and it's running iOS 14. The pixel supports Bluetooth version, 5.0 with standard dual-band Wi-Fi and supports 4g LTE running stock android 10. Now both phones will give you built-in NFC and stereo speakers, but the iPhone also supports Dolby Atmos sound.

Now, comparing the speakers listening to music and watching videos, so the sound quality is amazing on both devices, with a tad better quality from iPhone and a louder volume from pixel. Now, while we're still talking about the audio, the pixel comes with a three and a half millimeter headphone jack and the iPhone 12 mini does not have an audio jack at all. Furthermore, there is no micro SD expansion on either phone, so you're going to have to make the most of the storage option that you actually choose now the Pixel 4a comes with 128 gigs as standard base model. Now the iPhone 12 mini has a 64 gig base model, but I did actually pay that 50 pound extra for the 128 gig model, so these are both 128 gigs. Now, let's talk about the battery.

The pixel has a 3 140 William hour battery and supports 18 watt fast charging and the charger is included in the box. Now the iPhone 12 mini has a 2, 200 27 William hour battery. It supports 20 watt fast charging, but there is no charger included in the box. Also, the iPhone supports wireless charging and the pixel does not know after using both phones extensively, I can tell you that the iPhone will give you around 10 to 12 hours of battery life with normal medium usage. The Pixel 4a does a better job and can give you a good 24-hour battery life with normal to medium usage.

So there you have it guys. This concludes my head-to-head comparison between the iPhone 12 mini and the Google Pixel 4a, covering the main specs' performance cameras and lots more. So this was a very interesting comparison. The iPhone 12 mini is no doubt more powerful, more premium in quality, better video capture, but the price is actually more than double than the Pixel 4a, and you still have that caveat in the battery department. Now.

The Pixel 4a, however, is what I call well-balanced, decent performance. Decent build quality, a great battery life, not less design and simply amazing price tag. If I was doing smartphone awards, the Pixel 4a would get the best value phone of the year. There's no doubt about that one. So those were all the facts in this clash between these popular compact, smartphones, mid-range, pixel versus flagship, iPhone, 12 mini both are feature packed smartphones with lots to offer the iPhone 12 mini is for the serious premium, smartphone lovers who want to buy the best quality for their money and the Pixel 4a is for those budget conscious individuals who want the best bang available for their buck.

Now, if I had to pick one from the two, I would personally go for the iPhone 12 mini, because it's future-proof with 5g Wi-Fi 6. It offers better quality, video capture and ip68 rating, which I need and, of course, that premium gorgeous build quality and the fact that it's got a brighter display than the Pixel 4a. So that's my own personal opinion based on my requirements as a tech reviewer. But ironically, I always have two daily drivers. One is an android and one is an apple, and my current android daily driver is none other than the Pixel 4a and my iPhone is now the iPhone 12 mini.
