iPhone 12 Mini Vs iPhone 8 Plus! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison, this time around between the iPhone 8 plus and the newly released iPhone 12 mini now, the iPhone 12 mini as expected is the newer iPhone between these two and for some reason I just can't get the brightness to work out properly, but this phone costs 729 to pick up the iPhone 12 mini costs that, with the iPhone 8 plus, doesn't really cost. That anymore, I mean you can pick up these things for like around 300 in a ton of places, so I'll find the cheapest ones on Amazon link them down in the description below you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time now, side by side, you can definitely tell the 12 mini is the far smaller phone, and I didn't test this, but uh actually like the iPhone 8 plus, is definitely. I think the panel is a little smaller than the iPhone 12 mini size, but it's still extremely close. The iPhone 8 plus has that 5.5 inch IPS panel on it, and it's 1080p, and so is the resolution of the iPhone 12 mini and what's fascinating, is that the panel sizes, you know measured wise, are almost the same. You know with its 5.5 inch pin on the plus. It was a pretty good panel and at that time, and it still holds up fairly well, it's definitely not perfect, but it gets the job done for the most part.

You know, I think you know the viewing angles are great. The curved design some people may prefer, and it doesn't feel like it's your phone. It still feels like a pretty premium phone for the most part home button on the front, the thing that needs it. The most, though, is definitely the design. It doesn't look like the latest and greatest phone anymore, but it technically isn't so, there's no point for it to even look like it.

In my opinion, whereas on the iPhone 12 mini, has that 5.4 inch panel, and it's a super retina Dr OLED? So not only are you getting a jump from IPS to OLED, but you're also getting pretty much the same size screen almost in the smaller form factor, which is huge. Now when you look side by side, the 12 mini it does look noticeably smaller and looks like it has a way smaller display, but because of the way they're measured and everything, and because the screen of the iPhone 7 is a little longer. Actually, I think it's just a little longer. They look like about the same, but because of the lack of bezel on the 12-minute. That's why the screen looks overall, bigger so on the iPhone 8 plus, so that really pretty much covers up in the front in terms of the thickness between them.

The iPhone 8 plus, obviously, is a little thinner. I don't actually don't know they both look kind of the same. I think the 12 mini. It feels a little thicker because of the flat sides, but I think the iPhone 8 plus still feels really, really thin, and I don't really think being super thin is the best thing anymore, and you can see dual camera setups on the back very and very cracked back on my iPhone 8 plus, but glass backs on both which look fairly good, not a huge difference in terms of the back side except the flat sides on the iPhone 12 mini you're, getting IP certification on both of them you're getting wireless charging on both of them as well and between both. I really don't think, there's one that's you know blows the other one outside the water in terms of the build quality.

There are some other areas with the 12 mini winds, but in terms of the outside that pretty much covers it up in terms of this software, because the iPhone 12 mini is the newer iPhone by two years or three years the iPhone 8 plus came on in 2017. The iPhone 12 mini just came out, so this one could theoretically last up to three years longer than the iPhone 8 plus. Is it going to happen? I'm not really 100 to sure I guess we'll find out in the future, but I would assume that the iPhone 8 plus is probably not going to last as long as the 12 mini. You know this phone may, actually, you know, stop being supported. Probably within three years from now, the iPhone 12 mini will be like halfway through its life cycle.

Then so that's another big caveat something to consider, but I probably tell you the iPhone 12 mini is going to outlast the iPhone 8 plus when it comes down to it. So in terms of that that pretty much covers it up, let's go into a little of a speed comparison between both phones right now. The iPhone 8 plus has that apple 11, bionic chip inside it with three gigabytes of ram with the iPhone 12 mini, has that uploaded 14 by one chip inside it with four gigabytes of ram. So, let's go and see which one is the faster phone between both of these okay. Now that we're back, let me go and increase the brightness right here.

Let me go, and I guess decrease a little right here and let's just go and get into it, but I will have to clear out all the apps on both and, as you can see, the 12 mini. Let's have some apps there, so I'll go and clear. Out of all these, let me go and clear out the iPhone 8 plus they're cleared. Let's do phone calls three two ones. Okay about the same, actually not a big difference, app store three two one and the iPhone 12 mini, I think, is the faster one.

There scrolling speeds, though, and see if there's a difference, and I don't really think there's that big of a difference between them. They feel and look actually about the same. Let's get over here and let's do these third-party apps that I have on both of them. Let's do free ninja three, two one, and you can see still the iPhone 12 mini is- is still the faster one, but it's still very close between them. As you can see, the iPhone 8 plus got into this panel a little faster.

Let's go scroll out of these. Let's do twitter three, two one again, that's what many faster iPhone, 8, plus a little slower Facebook, three two one very close. Actually, I think the 12 minute was faster, but it was still extremely close between both temple run. Two three two one and you can see the 12 mini- is the faster one for sure the iPhone 8, plus a little slower, not like a dealbreaker, not anything too crazy, but still something to consider the iPhone told me was way ahead of the iPhone 8 plus for sure the plus eventually gets into it. Let's go and scroll out of here, let's get into the next one, which is BFA three two one you can see.

Actually I think the eight plus may have actually been a little faster, though that was actually very close. I don't know which one was which Quizlet three two one, and I think the iPhone. So many was the faster one there. Let's do Dropbox three two one again, the 12 minute was faster if, when he plus a little slower, Netflix three two one Netflix slightly faster, the iPhone 12 or the iPhone 8, plus a little slower snake versus blocks 321 and the iPhone 12 mini was faster, the iPhone 8 plus shortly behind it getting into some gameplay. Let's see if there's a difference, and I don't think, there's going to be that big of a difference between them.

If I'm being honest, they both look roughly around the same. If I'm being honest, let's do thank you three two ones. You can see the iPhone 7 just slightly ahead, just by a little and that's enormous difference, but still a slight one for sure. Let's go and do stack three two one and the iPhone 12 mini faster, iPhone, 8 plus shortly behind it. Let's do Instagram three two one, and I got an iPhone 12 mini faster, iPhone, 8 plus really behind paper Io, two three, two one and the 12 mini faster, iPhone, 8, plus a little more behind it.

Let's get into some gameplay and see if there's a difference- and I don't think there's going to be- they look actually roughly about the same, but you guys will be able to tell over the camera a little better. Let's send it off with really racing three. I don't even think I have it over here. Three two one and you can see the 12 minute was the faster one. The iPhone 8 plus still loading, no problem, no shame in it and, as you can see, the iPhone 8 plus eventually gets into it.

So and definitely when it comes down to what I would like to say, the iPhone 12 mini is probably the more consistently faster one. But there's a big. But to that I think the iPhone 8 plus actually held up extremely well, and you can see the ram management may actually be a little better on the iPhone 8 plus, and I opened up the wrong app, but still the iPhone 12 mini actually was able to keep that up too. Let's go back and let's do the app store here and, as you can see, the iPhone 12 mini. Actually we had to restart that very, very interesting.

So let me go and hop back out of here. Let's go do the same one on both: let's do fruit, ninja three two one and both did restart technically the iPhone told me was able to restart faster, but I think the iPhone 8 plus is probably really, really fast too. I think this phone actually held up really well. The iPhone 12 mini just happens to be the faster one when it comes down to it, so the 12-minute faster ram management may be better on the plus, but that really pretty much covers it up here. Let's go in on the cameras now, like I stated before: dual camera setups on both 12 megapixel wide 12 megapixel ultrawide, with the iPhone 8 plus, has that 12 megapixel wide and 12 megapixel telephoto lens now on the iPhone 8 plus.

I actually think it has a really decent camera. Still. You know you have that telephoto lens, you have a lot of capability behind this specific phone, which I've said time and time again is a humongous asset for it. It's definitely not like the best camera in the world. Would you still have a telephoto lens? You still have portrait mode.

You still have a lot of capability behind this specific lens, which I think is a huge asset for it for sure now the biggest downside may be for that front camera you can only do 1080p on the front camera or the iPhone 8 plus is the end of the deal. Is it a dealbreaker, probably not not for a lot of people, but I think for some people it may just be for somebody who cares about camera quality a lot of having something like the iPhone 12 minis camera is probably a better choice than the iPhone 8 plus to be honest, but when you look at something like the iPhone 12 mini, I think this camera is overall still really, really good. Too. I mean I don't really have those many complaints with a specific camera. I think it gets the job done.

Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but it's not meant to be perfect. You know you can do 4k 60 on the back, and you can do 4k 60 on the front camera of the iPhone 12 mini as well. So again, another huge highlight of this specific phone. You have a better camera setup than the iPhone 8 plus so for sure, when it comes down to it, the iPhone 12 mini has my thumbs up for 100 fact. Now, winning it off with the battery life.

The iPhone 8 plus has a bigger battery than the iPhone 12 mini, but I would still say the 12-minute may actually have the better battery life, mainly for one reason, the iPhone 12 mini software is a little more optimized for it. Io's 14 has been a little better on the 12 series than the older series, but I'll do a full battery comparison between them, and I'll. Let you guys know from there, but to kind of sum up this video and to answer the question: should you go and pick up a 12 minute? Should you pick up the iPhone 8 plus to be completely honest with the iPhone 8 plus? I don't really think I would go and upgrade from an plus to an iPhone 12 mini right now. I feel like the 12 mini just this new two. You know.12 iPhones are too expensive, and I feel like there's just too many similarities between this generation and the previous generation, which is the iPhone 11 series, the 11 pro and 11 pro mics included with the iPhone 8 plus it gets the job done for the most part. For really anything you're going to do I mean the biggest downsides, for it are probably the battery, maybe a little of you know like the camera quality, but I still think it gets the job done.

Maybe that also the biggest thing the biggest problem is the way it looks. It looks like a super outdated phone, but the internals are almost exactly the same as the iPhone 10 and the iPhone 10 doesn't really seem that outdated either. So when it comes down to it, I'll probably tell you if you can go for an iPhone 12. If you have all the money in the world, go for it, but the iPhone 8 plus still has a lot of capability, and it still has a lot of power too. Now with something like the iPhone 12 mini.

This one has a lot of capability behind it for sure too, it can get the job done times 50. You know it has the notch design, which is really nice. You know it's pretty much. Furthermore, you know the current design the panel over it looks really nice. It has flat designs to it too, like there's a lot to love about this phone.

Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but that doesn't mean it's not a huge upgrade from the iPhone 8 plus, but I just don't think like. If I had an iPhone 8 plus, I don't think I would go to an iPhone 12 mini to be completely honest. I think I would go from an iPhone 8 plus to an iPhone 11 Pro max or to an iPhone 11 Pro. Those phones were really, really good and those have some huge upsides even to the iPhone 12 mini, including bigger batteries and all that stuff, and it's a newer design, better camera setup. I think on those phones than these, and that's pretty much how I would sum it up man, I think the iPhone 11 Pro is a great phone.

I think the iPhone 12 mini is a great phone. Furthermore, I think the iPhone 8 plus is a great phone. The 12 mini is the better one for sure, but the iPhone 8 plus, I think, still has some likes to it too. So that really pretty much covers it up.
