iPhone 11 vs iPhone 7 Plus: Worth the Upgrade (2021)

Hey guys technical with the video for you guys in today's video we'll be comparing the iPhone 11 here with the iPhone 7 plus in a head-to-head comparison where you take a look at the hardware, the software overall performance in a mid 2021. To kind of give, you guys a perspective on what you can expect out of these two phones in 2021, whether you're upgrading from the iPhone 7 plus to the iPhone 11 or in the market, to see what kind of money you should spend and what kind of features you get out of either of these two phones. But before we go ahead and get started, if you guys are new to a channel, we do a lot of techs, news reviews and giveaways so make sure that subscribe button, also, if you guys, are in the market for a phenomenal device like either of these make sure you guys check out the link in the description section. So let's go ahead and talk about these two phones, the iPhone 7 here, plus that we have it's actually the plus size. So a good comparison probably be the iPhone 11 Pro max. The max edition is what apple has rebranded after the iPhone 10 lineup as the plus version.

So if you're thinking well, this isn't really a comparison as an apples to apples by any ways it is. Actually you know to compare just to show you guys. This plus size is now what the normal iPhone regular size, 11 and the 12 looks like they're about the same in terms of the body. If you look at the size wise, so Apple has done a lot away with smaller phones into bringing bigger phones out and that's the case with all the major players out there for smartphones. They have really increased the size of the phones itself and the iPhone 7 release, 7 plus released in 2017 and then iPhone 11 release.

Of course, in 2019. Actually the iPhone 7 plus was actually released in 2016 2017 was iPhone 8 and the 8 plus correction on there. So three year difference between these two phones and a lot has changed. As you can imagine. Apple does improve slightly, not so ever so great, but it does make the improvement as you'll notice, between these two phones.

The body here is slightly different, build between these two phones, the iPhone 11 here- is all front and back being all glasses. This it is using, what's known as aerospace grade um aluminum for its bodies. Similarly, on the iPhone 11 here you can see front being all glass at the back. Here is made out of aluminum, and it's not a glass back, so you can't do wireless charging, like you, can do with the iPhone 11. So that's one of the big factor that comes in having a bag being all glass versus, not glad the pro about having a back glasses.

You know wireless charging, but of course, if you break it or if it falls, it's easily able to shatter the back, unlike the iPhone 7 plus here, if you drop it, it falls on. The back probably will leave a little dent, but won't crack anything, and you'll notice things, of course, between these two phones, as we mentioned here, things like the camera here, both of the phones actually has two dual megapixel camera you on the seven plus here, as you can see, it's going this way, of course, on the 11 up and down here slight variations in that things, like Apple logo, what used to be on more towards the top or move toward the bottom? Things like that iPhone and the naming has been gone on, the iPhone 11 and your iPhone DLC. So this phone is not fake if you're wondering that um. Of course, if you look at things of the other side, both of the phones does have this rounded matte bezel here unique to it, design which the new iPhone 12 lineup, you know, has changed that um. Let's talk about a little of more in terms of actual display, as you can see here, these are some phenomenal phones, with their display being uh huge compared to some other phones talking about the iPhone display.

Let's talk about starting with the iPhone 7 plus display it has a 5.5 LCD um with a retina HD display. So what does that really mean? Well, that means couple things here: um with the iPhone 11. Here we have what's known as liquid retina HD display it's a 6.1 display. So, although the both of the phones look about the same size because of that fingerprint bottom notch and the top-notch here, it kind of cuts into the real state of the actual screen space. So if you're comparing actual screen space, you get a lot more on the 11 and one thing: that's astounding.

Out of these two phones is the actual resolution, so the iPhone 7 plus surprisingly, has a 1920 by a 1080 pixel resolution at 400 PPI, where the resolution on the newer 11 kinds of drops at 1792 by 828 pixel resolution at 326 PPI, so not sure what happened there with apple, but I guess maybe the liquid retina attributed to losing the actual resolution. But that is something we want to mention. Of course, both of the phones have around similar contrast, ratio that 1300 to 1 to 1400 to 1 on the 11. Here things like actual um. One aspect we want to mention is the actual display, although that the iPhone 7 plus here does a better resolution, it doesn't have this thing called true tone which allows the newer phones, iPhone 8 starting above um.

Has this true tone feature which allows the phone to actually take on the ambient lighting condition to make the colors feel more consistent to the environment? Basically, if you have iPhone 8 plus- and you have this you're going to have you're going to see the display being more realistic, images are just being a little more clear and just easier on the eyes itself and, as you know, between these two phones, if we take a look at the last aspect of the actual physical body, both of the phones weigh around the same. If you weigh it in your hand, you'll notice between these two phones they're really much what you would expect, because both of the phones or just a little under 7 ounces. But if you have a maybe like medium so average size hand you're, probably going to fit both of the hands both of the phones in your palm pretty easily. But if you have smaller hands, it might feel a little comfortable, because, if you're used to that 4.7 inch iPhone, this does feel a little bigger. Of course, the 11 pro max here is even huge compared to the size of these two phones, and let's talk about the next aspect, which is battery, which is a really important aspect.

When you take a look at these two phones and when you talk about battery both of the phones does have big batteries, because they are big phones, and they need that kind of power. When you think about battery. One thing we want to talk about is the video playback, so what kind of video playback can you expect? The iPhone 7 plus gives you around 17 hours of video playback, where the iPhone 11 gives you around 17 hours of video blocks, so three hours difference in terms of actual video playback. What does that really mean for someone using a phone? Well, if you're a light to medium user, the iPhone 11 will pretty much get you through the whole day on a full single charge. The iPhone 7 plus, on the other hand, will probably get you three-fourths of the day before you need to plug it in and get it charged.

Of course, both of the phones does have um that sort of capability, and if you are sort of on the heavier side of the usage, even on the iPhone 11, you probably need a charge, after probably three fourths of the day, where the iPhone 7 plus probably get you halfway through the day before you need to recharge. So, let's talk about the NASA aspect of these two phones, which is the actual chip set on these two phones, because the iPhone 7 here was released in a 2016 three years it came out with the a10 bionic chip and the a10 bionic chip compared to the a13 bionic. Chip, of course, is a little slower and that's expected that's pretty much. The common theme when you update phones apple, usually updates their chip on the phone. That's why you have those also other thing to mention is the actual ram, the iPhone 7 plus here it has two gigs of ram or the iPhone 11 here has four gigs of ram, so almost double the amount of ram that you get, and this is especially important, especially if you're using it in your phone for gaming, especially heavy graphic gaming, you're, probably going to get a lot more usage out of this phone, and let's talk about the new aspect, which is the software of these two phones, as you can see, both of the phones are actually able to update to iOS 14 and that's great news and also iOS 15, which is expected to come out later this year, which, if you haven't seen the video on that, make sure you guys check that video on our channel, iPhone, 7 plus, is actually going to get iOS 15, and we would suspect, possibly iOS 16 as well talking about the actual software update.

So we expect like with Apple devices, they get supported major updates for a good four to five years. We expect the iPhone 7 probably get another two, maybe three. If you're pushing two years solid of software updates, where the iPhone 11 here will probably get three to four years of major updates, so if you're looking for a phone purely on how long it will last in terms of actual life of software, you're, probably going to be looking at the iPhone 11. And now, let's talk about the camera of these two phones really important aspect which we don't want to miss and because of these two phones, as you know, both of the phones does have two 12 megapixel cameras when it comes to photography mode, both of them are able to do a lot of great photography, HD photos. The one thing we notice on the 11 is that you have things like deep fusion and night mode, which is impossible on the 11.

Also, along with that is portrait mode. So both of the phones actually does have portrait mode, you'll notice on the seven. Unfortunately, it has one setting of the portrait mode which we saw right there. The iPhone 11 here, on the other hand, has a bunch of other settings for portrait mode. So, if you're really looking for a phone purely on being able to enhance your photography skill, probably going to go with the iPhone 11 and talking about photography, you can miss the aspect of video recording.

So the iPhone 11 here can record 4k at 60 frames per second, unlike its counterpart on the 7 plus. If you go check out the actual video capability recording capability on the iPhone 7 plus, it actually has one setting at 4k, which is at 30 frames per second. So do you know that, in terms of camera, because three years difference between these two phones, the iPhone 11, a better choice overall for camera and even for the front facing camera, which is one thing we don't really talk about- is that the iPhone 11 has a 12 megapixel front facing camera? So if you're thinking of taking awesome selfies- and you know looking better on FaceTime- probably the iPhone 11, because the iPhone 7 has a 7 megapixel, camera pictures aren't going to be as clear as the 11 as you can expect. So between these two phones. Why might you pick one versus the other? Why might you get iPhone 7 in 2021? Well, let's talk about the iPhone 7 a little in 2021.

We noticed that with the pixel resolution on this phone is almost 23 higher pixel density. You also have an almost close to 40 percent higher uh resolution on it, and we've seen that based on just the screen itself, so you get a lot more of it. Of course, if you still like to have that home button, this is where the iphone 7 plus comes in. It has that home button which we see apple, bringing that back into some newer. That is a rumor that they might bring into that all screen display body.

That apple has indicated, so we'll see that might be something apple brings in, but in the meantime, we'll have to stick with the seven plus if you're looking for fingerprint reader. One other interesting aspect we didn't mention is when we do durability. Test of the battery we see the iPhone 7 plus actually is able to last for 21 hours versus 17 hours on the iPhone 11. So almost four-hour difference in that aspect, so there you guys have it, and last thing, of course, is the microphone. It's one thing we don't talk about.

A lot is that the iPhone 7 plus does have three built-in mic versus two on the iPhone 11, so not sure how that makes much of a difference when it comes to recording. We haven't seen much, but it's something to mention and lastly, for the iPhone 7 plus. What is it going for? It's budget friendly phone? That's able to get the latest update. So, if you're looking for a phone, maybe around 200 less than 250 or so you can actually score the iPhone 7 plus right now, probably around that mark price of price is a big factor. You don't mind a little bit of future downgrade the iPhone 7 plus a great phone still in 2021, and let's talk about the iPhone 11 in 2021.

Of course, we mentioned it is the all screen body display and because of that it is uh. It just looks a little better when it comes to watching videos if you're watching it YouTube Netflix uh. Your favorite show you probably find it a lot more comfortable because of that 6.1 display versus that 5.1 display on the iPhone a 7 plus. You also get a much faster CPU, because it is a third genus. Three iteration of this chip, a13 bionic chip, you get almost 1.84, faster CPU speed and that four gig versus a two gig a lot more power on the iPhone 11, especially when it comes to game. You get better video recording capability, you get portrait mode with a lot more settings, that's not possible with the iPhone 7 plus and, of course.

Lastly, the price of this phone. If you're taking a look at it is actually you could get this phone around five hundred dollars, so you don't pay in some case, depending on how much you're, looking at the seven plus you're, paying double the amount. So it's not quite budget friendly in that aspect, if you're looking for to be budget friendly, but nonetheless, it brings a ton of features with the camera like night mode, and all of that you can talk about and being supported for another three or four years versus well iPhone.7 plus supported, maybe another two years or so, on the long run, the iPhone 7 plus definitely will be worth your money. So if you're going to upgrade from the 7 plus to 11 you- probably it's an it's a worth upgrade, because the iPhone 11 here does have a lot of the feature that comes in the iPhone 12 besides 5g, maybe a slightly improved minion speed. But besides that the iPhone 11 pretty much comes in hand-to-hand, with the 12 lineup, just paying a little less money.

The iPhone 7 plus here still a great phone for those budget friendly that are mindful of their budget. Nonetheless, but do you know that software update will come to an end sooner or later than the iPhone 11. ? So there you guys have it for our review of these two phones. We want to hear from you guys if you guys use one phone versus another upgraded whatever the case may be, leave a comment in the comment section also if this video was helpful, please make sure that like and subscribe button thanks for watching guys, see you guys next time.
