iPhone 11 Pro Max vs Galaxy S20 Ultra SPEED Test - Battle of the BEASTS!

What's up guys, my name is Brandon, and today we're going to be running a speed test between the brand new Samsung Galaxy S 20 altar and the iPhone 11 Pro Mac. So these are two of the fastest most popular smartphones on the market. Right now and I'm very curious to see if the insane specs on the s20 ultra live up to the hype and can beat last year's iPhone 11 Pro Max, so we're gonna first lay out these specs of each phone, and then we're going to get right in to the speed test. So starting off with the s20 ultra. We have this snapdragon 865 processors, with the Adrian 650 GPU and 12 gigabytes of ram or 16 gigabytes. If you get the highest in model d, 512 gigabyte variant, but we do have the 128 here, so it is 12 gigabytes of RAM and of course we are running the latest version of Android 10.

Now, on the other end, we have the iPhone 11 Pro max, which has Apple's 813 Bionic chip and four gigabytes of RAM. So, yes, we have tripled the RAM on the s20 ultra, so it will be very interesting to see how well it performs when we do the RAM test in this video but anyways. We are also running the latest iOS version, which is 13 point 3.1 at the time of recording on the 11pro max here. Alright, so we're gonna. Do this speed test like I've done all my other speed tests over the past few years, and we're gonna start with a simple boot up test, so we're going to go ahead and turn both these devices completely off, and now we're going to press the power button and boot up, at the exact same time on both and three two one pressing the exact same time on both phones.

We do see some text first on the galaxy as expected, and it looks like these Samsung is going to win the boot up test. It is flying through this. For some reason, the iPhones do always tend to lose to the Galaxy phones when it comes to the boot up tests and yes, the Galaxy S 20 ultra does boot up before the 11pro max by quite a few seconds going on, maybe like 10 seconds sooner than the 11pro max so definitely a big difference in boot. Uptimes now a lot of people, don't usually you know boot their phones up very often, but so, if you do just know that the boot up speeds will definitely be faster on the s20 ultra I. So now we're going to test getting into the phone via face ID or facial recognition.

So we do have faced ID on the iPhone, and we have facial recognition on the s20 ultra. So we're going to go ahead and try to see which one can get into device faster. We will have to swipe up on both as well, so I'm gonna. Try to test that here, and it looked like the iPhone got to the home screen. First, you do have to swipe up on the galaxy to get there and, as you can see, there looks like the iPhone and face ID is faster than the s20 ultra now the s20 ultra does also have a feature called a stay on lock screen.

If we go ahead and turn that off, it's going to bypass having to swipe up, so it may get to the home screen faster. Let's go ahead and test that out and the iPhone it looked like still got to the home screen faster. Let's try one last time here and that was very, very close, so looks like the iPhone will win when it comes to facial recognition. It is faster and also more secure on the iPhone. Now we do also have the fingerprint sensor inside the screen of the s20 ultra, which is really nice and an alternative version to get into the home screen.

So now we're going to test face ID versus the fingerprint sensor to see which one we can get into the home screen first on, and that was very close. Let's try one final time and that was very, very close. I'm going to have to give the edge to the iPhone there when it comes to getting in the phone via biometrics I. So now we're going to move on to the app launching tests and for this test we have the default settings, of course, on the iPhone because there's nothing to configure, but for the s20 ultra we go into our settings and then go down to device care and then battery power mode. You can see we are in high performance mode, so we are going to get the best performance possible out of the s20 ultra being in that mode.

So now that all the apps are closed, we are going to start off with some applications that you're probably going to use on a daily basis, starting off with some social media applications. Let's start with Twitter and three two one press at the same time and wow that was insanely fast from the s20 ultra. Definitely a win there over the iPhone, let's go into Instagram and fully loaded on the s20 ultra. Oh, that was actually very close, so ended up being very close to look like the s20 ultra may have still won, but let's go ahead and try something else: let's try YouTube and the s20 ultra once again opened YouTube faster, let's go into Reddit, and it looks like the s20 ultra also opened Reddit faster and even had a live stream on the front page, so very, very impressive. So far from the s20 ultra, it's looking like those specs are actually translating to real-life usage as well.

So let's go ahead and try. Let's do Amazon and three two one press, it is the exact same time there, and it looks like the iPhone loaded up everything first over the s20 ultra on that one. Let's go into ESPN fantasy football press, it is the exact same time there, and it looks like the s20 ultra wins that one as well. So this is definitely beating the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which is pretty surprising to me because a lot of times the specs don't translate over to real life. But it looks like with the s20 ultra.

They actually are ISO. Now, let's do a test where the iPhone always thrives and usually always beats these Samsung phones, and that is in gaming. So I will be super impressed at the s20. Ultra beats the iPhone when it comes to opening up gaming applications. So let's go ahead and start with something simple, like subway surfers three: two one press at the exact same time there, and we are loading the data and look like the s20 ultra one getting into subway surfers.

Let's do something a little more intensive, let's go ahead and try out pub G mobile in three two one press at the exact same time- and we are logged into two separate accounts on at this. So it should be. A very even test looks like the iPhone is pulling ahead when it comes to pub G yeah, very close. But yes, the iPhone did win by a few seconds here over the s20 Ultra when it comes to opening up pub G all right. So now, let's move on to my current favorite mobile game, and that is Call of Duty mobile in three two one press.

It is the exact same time there, as you can see very close neck-and-neck right now. You can actually see a pretty nice difference in the colors of the screens when it got on that loading screen there. So we'll have to test that in my full comparison, video but anyways, you can see we are loading on both, and it looks like the s20 ultra is going to win when it comes to Call of Duty mobile loading up Call of Duty mobile, it's going to be very, very close, but it looks like the s20 ultra. Maybe yes, the s20 ultra by probably about a second, if that, so the estimate ultra did load up Call of Duty mobile first right there. Now, let's do one that we've done pretty much every year here for years on the channel that is asphalt, nine and three two one just a classic game there, and that Game loft logo is a lot bigger on at the s20.

Ultra so looks like we are loading up first on the iPhone, but we all know how it can look deceiving at first. But yes, we do get into the game first on at the iPhone, whereas we're still waiting on the s20 ultra there we go all right, so you guys get the idea. So now, let's go ahead and test something a little more important and that is the ramp. So we're going to go ahead and run through and open up all the applications that we opened up throughout this test and see if they reload or not, and if they're, where we left them off at, so we're going to start off with in the same order, I guess as where we start us a Twitter. If we go into Twitter look like we had a little mini reload there, a little flash on the screen of the s20 ultra, not on the iPhone very interesting, but neither one of them fully reloaded.

Let's go to Instagram no full reload. There go to YouTube no full reload there. Let's go to Reddit. We don't have to open it at the same time, we're just looking for reloads here, ESPN fantasy, no reloads their Amazon, nothing there either. We didn't actually have the front page reload, actually on the s20.

Ultra and not on the iPhone, so even having three times less memory looks like the iPhone is keeping up just as good as the s20 ultra, if not better. So now, let's go ahead and test out these games and keep in mind. It has not been very long at all, so we should not have any reloads on any of these games on either device, but we will see so let's go ahead and do subway surfers no reload. There Bob G, no reload there, cod mobile, and we have little loading here on the s20 ultra Oh, a full reload on the s20 ultra and not on the iPhone when it comes to Call of Duty mobile. So that is pretty disappointing.

I mean three times the RAM, and we're still reloading less than five minutes after opening it initially, so I'm kind of disappointed in that I. So now we're going to move on to a web browsing test to see which one it can open up web pages faster. We are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network, so we're going to go ahead and go to espn. com and three-two-one press. At the same time there and it looked like the iPhone loaded up- ESPN first we're still waiting on the s20 ultra.

That ad is still there. We go so few seconds behind. It was the s20 ultra. Let's move on to something else: I! So now we're going to go to product calm in 3, 2, 1 press. At the same time there and it looks like the iPhone loaded up first I was still waiting to see if there's something else gonna pop up, but now the iPhone did load up faster than the s20 Patron product hunt.

Let's go to Forbes comm and 3 2 1, and it looks like we loaded up. First I, don't know man that was very close, I think the iPhone and the iPhone also loaded up that ad first, so very close, but it looked like the iPhone has the advantage here when it comes to web browsing, let's go ahead and do something a little funny here: let's go to Samsung c'mon BO 3, 2, 1 and Samsung calm loads up first on the iPhone, so that is actually pretty funny. We got a first loading, and you saw the feedback opened up a lot later there on the s20 ultra. We got it loading up a lot later, so for some reason: the iPhone loads up Samsung, calm, even faster than the s20 ultra, and now we're going to do a Wi-Fi speed test to see if Wi-Fi is faster and one device or the other we're going to start off with the iPhone 11 Pro Max here, like I, said we are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network, so we should in theory, be seeing similar speeds, but we'll see alright. So, as you can see, we got a fifty-four point: nine and a twenty-two point.

Six up here on the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the s20 Ultra is like doubling those speeds. Look at this big difference here in terms of Wi-Fi speed, so definitely faster, Wi-Fi on the s20 ultra. So yes, we finished with like double the download and like six times the upload on the s20 ultra, so definitely better Wi-Fi performance, at least in this test, from the s20 ultra, and now we're going to test the LTE, so I'm going to go ahead and go off of Wi-Fi we're going to test LTE versus 5g here on the s20 ultra. So let's go ahead and do test again. This time we are on LTE and the download speed is pretty similar, but we got an upload speed of just two megabytes.

So now, I'm going to take my sim card out, put it inside the s20 ultra and compare the speeds alright. So now we're on the s20 ultra you can see here, we do have Wi-Fi turned off, and we are running off of LTE right now. I don't actually have 5g in my area, so it's just going to be LTE, very LTE. So let's go ahead and run the speed test and see if it's any faster than the iPhone. When it comes to LTE.

As you can see, the difference is a very, very minor. We have slightly faster speeds on the s20 ultra, but when it comes to white, much faster speeds on the s20 old truck compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, so I'm going to have to give the win here to the s20 ultra when it comes to connectivity and then finally, I wanted to do a quick little test when it comes to the camera, application, taking photos and videos and seeing how fast they go back to the camera. Roll and things like that. So we're just going to start with a simple shutter, and you can see there. It goes to the camera.

Roll first on looks like the iPhone. It saves the photo first on maybe pretty hard to tell on camera here, let's go ahead and try it one more time just on this white right here, so you can maybe see. Look in the bottom left corner of each and yes, it says first to the iPhone compared to the s20 ultra, let's see which one goes in and out of that ultra-wide lens faster. Let's go and press on this and three two one, and it looked like it's hard to tell looks like maybe the s20 ultra is a little faster. I, don't know it's very, very close in terms of changing the lens and going between the lenses.

Maybe this will give us a better idea if we do this right here, press at the same time, so it looks like the iPhone is actually a little faster when it comes to switching up the lens and getting that shot, and now we're just going to switch between photo and video to see which one comes up first, and it looks like the iPhone comes up first, when it comes to switching between photo and video. Let's try it one final time here, three two one and very, very close, but it looks like the iPhone does maneuver around the camera application a little faster. So there you have it guys. That is a speed test between the s20 ultra and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, if I missed anything. If you want me to compare other things with these two in terms of speed, let me know- and it comments down below I will have a full comparison between these two coming up in about a week or so I will include possibly some additional speed tests in that video, if you guys request them or maybe if I forgot something to do in the speed test.

But of course like always, let me know down in the comment below which device you think won. So if you guys enjoyed this video and found it entertaining, I would appreciate it if you gave this video a thumbs up and, of course subscribe. So you don't miss my full comparison between these two coming out later on this week or early next week, but anyways guys thanks again for watching, and I'll see you soon.
