iPad Pro 2020 Gaming Test and Review By UrAvgConsumer

What's going on guys to Travels consumer now, the iPad Pro needs no introduction, it's one of Apple's, most versatile devices, and it's great for a lot of things like constant consumption, doing artistic work with the Apple Pencil, even some gaming, but apples really been trying to crack the code to make this thing like a laptop replacement now, is it capable of doing that I'm not really sure for everyone it can, but it does check a lot of the boxes when it comes to being able to do just about anything and pretty well now we know there are tons of games in the Apple Store and some of those even have iPad versions that you can take advantage of, and some of them even use the 120 Hertz display, so that you can get a really smooth experience when gaming subway surfers. This is like my go-to when testing out this feature, and it looks perfect, but Apple Arcade actually has quite a few titles in there that really take advantage of what the iPad Pro is capable of and what's even better, is that the iPad now supports external controllers. Like the Xbox One controller, it supported a bunch of game pads in the past, but the Xbox One controller can now officially work with it and man. This thing completely changes the way you came on an iPad, but that Xbox controller does have to have Bluetooth in order to work with it. I played some pretty interesting games like ocean horn 2, which is a pretty cool adventure, game, sonic racing and even Call of Duty mobile, and let me tell you guys me playing Call of Duty mobile with an Xbox. One controller is like a cheat code.

I swear instead of fumbling around with any weird on-screen controls, you have an actual dedicated control, which is something I feel like. Most of us are more accustomed to, and it really shows- and my first couple of rounds playing this game with Xbox One controller support and you guys can see for yourself, you can see my kills compared to everyone else's is no joke. But I like the idea of this being able to take your iPad pretty much anywhere bring an Xbox One controller with you, you're able to game on the go, and if you have the LTE version, you can play online games, no matter where you are it's just a really, really nice setup I like the way Apple is going when it comes to gaming on the iPad or even other platforms like Apple TV, and all that stuff I've arcade is actually pretty decent. If you haven't check that out, give it a look, there's some pretty solid games on there. I can see taking an iPad and a controller around with you being really great for kids.

But what's nice is that support for external devices like the Xbox One controller? Isn't the only thing that's been added? We also got support for things like trackpads and mice. Now, I think this fundamentally changed the way we look at the iPad when you're looking into serious work, whether that's video, editing or word processing. It adds new elements to those workflows with both a mouse and trackpad. You get access to this cursor that moves fluidly throughout the interface and when your word processing, it's very, very easy to place that cursor in between words, especially in the Notes app, although I have found that it doesn't work as well with some external apps. One of my favorites is Microsoft OneNote and trying to take advantage of some of those.

Nice features that the cursor offers isn't really possible there. So it does depend on which app you're using I know with all the default apps you'll probably get access to all the movement and fluidity that it offers, but with some of those third-party apps, you might not get that same functionality and I, really like the fact that, when you're going through the interface, if you're highlighting an app it kind of just sticks to it or if you're trying to get the control center, it kind of sticks to it. And it's very easy to click in its just a smooth experience, and personally I think I'd enjoy using it more than I. Do the touchscreen when doing anything like word, processing or email or even just browsing through Safari I. Think I do like the trackpad and Mouse feel just a bit more now.

What the trackpad also offers is gestures. So, if you're familiar with using gestures on your MacBook Pro or your iMac, you pretty much get access to all of them on here now, even if you're not familiar with those, if you're familiar with doing them on the iPad, pretty much all those same gestures you'll be able to do right on the trackpad and, of course, that includes like swiping up to go home, showing the last used apps swiping back to the last app you used all that kind of stuff you have access to, and it's really simple and unless you're new to the Apple ecosystem, you'll feel right at home, and you'll even be able to use some of those extra buttons that we have on mice. I've tried the forward and back button. Those have been pretty hit or miss for me. Sometimes they work in certain apps.

Sometimes they don't, so I wouldn't fully rely on using those, but this MX master that I have I'm able to use that home button. That's on the left side to kind of go between the apps that I have open, so certain mouse functionality you'll get there, but not all of them perfectly, and while all of that is cool, what I really can't wait for is the magic keyboard. The Apple has teased. That thing looks like it is going to be amazing and a game changer for the iPad Pro it has the built-in trackpad it has a backlit keyboard with the scissor switches that you'll find, unlike the MacBook, Air or MacBook Pro 16 inch. So I am really excited for that.

That looks very, very promising, and I feel like that is going to be that one piece that really changes the way you use an iPad Pro from now. We have that trackpad support, but I am dying for that magic keyboard. It looks so promising, but when you just take a straight up, look at the iPad Pro its design that we're all pretty familiar with. At this point, honestly, it's probably as good as it gets when it comes to a tablet. I think Apple really nailed the overall design of the iPad Pro they're.

Looking at minimal bezels with a nice large display that you can choose between eleven and twelve point, nine inches with I personally used a twelve point. Nine inch version, which I've heard from numerous people that it's just too big, but it's a great size for me since I primarily use it for content consumption area actually has the 11-inch version which she loves. She thinks that one works well with her. It's easy to carry around, so she likes that smaller form factor, but I like that larger display. So when it comes down to it, it's all a matter of preference, but either way you can't deny that this thing just looks good, and it feels really comfortable to use in the hand now I'll throw up the specs of the display for those of you who are interested in it.

But one thing that I do want to call out is that 120 Hertz, refresh rate Apple, is calling this their pro motion technology, and we're seeing a lot of devices come with 90, Hertz or 120 Hertz displays now, and it honestly changes your experience when using the device, because it helps you feel really nice and smooth and fluid. Now I'm telling you this is going to become a must-have feature once people start knowing how good it is. Couple that refresh rate with Apple's new, a 12, Z Bionic processor and you're opening and closing apps at speeds. That feels like it's much faster than the computer. At least that's what Apple is marketing, and I'm not going to lie you're able to open apps jump between apps.

Pretty much do anything on here with speeds of probably the best laptop. You can find this thing is absolutely comparable, if not better than most laptops out there right now and of course, that is things to Apple optimizing, the heck out of their products, but it's not just fast. This thing is actually pretty powerful. You can use apps like Photoshop or Lima fusion for video editing, and I'm still waiting for that Final Cut Pro support, but until then Lima fusion does the trick. So if you want to edit like large photos- or you can do some video editing, this thing is powerful enough to handle that without skipping a beat, it's actually pretty impressive, and that's why I want Final Cut Pro support.

I, definitely think that this thing can handle it, maybe not use any crazy plugins, but for at least Final Cut Pro. The way it is right now right out the gate. I think you could do a perfect job with it. So the iPad pros repertoire has been expanded from a work and gaming perspective, but something else that's been expanded is the camera system, so Apple went ahead and added an ultra wide-angle camera lens and while many people probably aren't taking a ton of pictures with their iPads, if you're going to add a camera lens to this thing, the ultra-wide is the way to go. It adds a lot more versatility if you want to go out and take some pictures and the camera quality is of course great once you're outside you'll get really nice clean shots out of it when you're inside, though that changes drastically for the ultra-wide, just like we've seen with the iPhone 11s once you're indoors, and you've got that low-light ultra-wide is not going to be your best friend.

The quality isn't as great as with the just regular wide-angle lens, but this is by no means a deal-breaker I think just about every device that has an ultra wide-angle lens doesn't perform that. Well, when it comes to low-light, hopefully we'll see that change in the future, but what they've also added to their camera is a LIDAR scanner and this light. Our scanners are gonna essentially help in the world of AR. Apple is really proud of with it our capabilities for its devices, and they took it a step further here. It allows the iPad to more accurately scan the world, wear it in and convert it to the digital world.

Now some real world scenarios, where you'll actually be able to take advantage of this as if we're using something like the IKEA app, and you want to see how a piece of furniture fits inside a room well before you would typically just get a digital version of whatever chair you're looking at place it in your space and kind of just be able to see what it would look like in it, but now it'll accurately scan where you are, and it'll use the actual dimensions of the chair itself. So you can see for scale how these products are gonna look inside your space, so if it's too big or too little you'll be able to see that for yourself, and it'll just help, you make better judgments when you're trying to purchase or make a purchasing decision based on this augmented reality could be really, really cool. You also be able to see improvements in the measure app. The measure app will be a lot more accurate and, of course, you'll be able to use it for those augmented reality games, but it is going to be pretty interesting to see how companies take advantage of this LIDAR scanner in the future. I would not be surprised to see.

This feature comes to the iPhones at some point, and battery life is solid. I can use this thing all day and not really worry about it dying on me and honestly. I don't use it that often throughout the day, because this thing is a complimentary device for my phone and my laptop. So when I pull it out, I use it for, like short, bursts, so I can go days without having to charge this thing. But if you use it a bit more heavily I think it's pretty safe to say that you can get a full day's usage out of it.

But the big question is: is it worth your hard-earned money if you don't own an iPad Pro from last year? Absolutely if you do don't even bother. This is not meant for you. Just update your iPad Pro, and you'll get a lot of the same features here, so, of course that LIDAR scanner, but this is for someone who does not already own an iPad Pro and I, really think that this is an easy recommendation unless you're looking for it to the place like a laptop I, don't know if it's quite there, yet I don't know if you'll be able to get over the file management system. It's quite a bit different on the iPad. It's not like the traditional file explorer that we usually see on like windows or even macOS, but if you're willing to learn and navigate through the iPad, OS I think it's going to be capable of doing a lot of things.

That you're looking for I've had is something I personally use on a daily basis, like I said before: I use it for a lot of media consumption, so I'm, usually using this thing right before bed to watch some of my favorite shows fall right, asleep. I. Take this thing with me pretty much everywhere. Now, typically, I would have feel comfortable. Taking this thing around with me as the only device in my backpack from a comfort standpoint, because what I'm doing my work, I, don't know, I, don't feel super comfortable typing up emails on a tablet, or even my phone I prefer to do them like with a traditional laptop of or a computer of some sort, but I do feel like that has changed with the introduction of the trackpad and mouse support.

Now, while I can also do video editing on this, it still doesn't have the app that I'm personally used to, so I, wouldn't really use it for that. But everything outside that I think my confidence in this device has grown substantially, and I feel like that. Confidence might grow even more if the magic keyboard lives up to expectations, but as of right now, I do feel pretty confident in recommending it if your budget allows for it now. This is not a cheap device by any means. The cheapest one starts at $7.99, and that is for the 11-inch model and that's not counting any of the accessories. If you want the full experience, you got to add that 129 dollar Apple Pencil $179 smart keyboard, $129 Magic Trackpad, so you guys to kind of see for yourself once you start tacking on all of those different things, it can get pretty expensive.

So the pricing might be a tough pill to swallow, but once you got your hands on these I, don't think the experience is going to be disappointing by any means, and I probably wouldn't be looking at this to replace a dedicated laptop. Even though this thing is pretty comparable to a lot of laptops out there. If you want that laptop experience, I would say: look at something like the new MacBook Air. It is an extremely versatile device that you can do a lot of things with I honestly think it effects a lot of the boxes and does a lot of good things, but that's about it for this video guys.
