Huawei Mate 40 Pro Hands-On and First Impressions By Unbox PH

You've seen the live stream, you've seen us react to it, and now we finally have it here with us: hey kids, Rita jams here once again, taking awesome out of the box in this one we're taking a look at a phone that could be the best one for mobile photography, I'm of course talking about the Huawei Mate 40 pro before we get into it. I do want to mention that first, we don't have the official SRP for this device. Yet hopefully we do get an update for you guys about that really soon. Second, this is a marketing unit from Huawei, so we are missing the documents out of the box, but apart from that, you are getting all the standard stuff. You have the mate 40 pro itself and come on guys. Look at that.

This is their mystic silver color variant and I think it looks fantastic, but more on the phone later you have a jelly case with a huge cut out for the cameras on the back. The sim ejector pin a pair of headphones that are USB the charging cable and the charging brick, which now supports Huawei's 66 watt. Supercharge, so that's definitely a big upgrade from the 40 watts that we got on the mate 30 pro and I will be sharing what charging times are like later on in this video, but now onto the phone itself and, like I said guys, it looks really, really good. I know that people have been comparing this to old school, iPods with scroll wheels, but experiencing this device first hand, kind of makes me forget all about that for a little, it's pretty hard to unsee. The main reason for the comparison is, of course, the key design element that Huawei used for the camera system, that they're calling the space ring, and I definitely know it's going to be polarizing.

So let me know what you guys think about it in the comment section down below. Personally, I think they're, okay, I don't have strong feelings about it, but what's important for me is that those cameras take perfect photos and I will be showing you guys samples later on again we have the mystic silver color van, which is what I believe their hero. Color is for this device. I really like the iridescence or the way colors shift, depending on the way light hits the phone, it's very subtle, on the make 40 pro and, of course, you're. Also getting that matte finish, that we see on most flagship devices nowadays, always a plus.

For me in terms of the way the phone feels in the hand the curves of the phone make it sit well, and it's easier to grip, even for Leah who has much smaller hands than I do. What we both noticed, though, is how much heavier the phone is compared to other flagships. We've tried out this year. It's nothing crazy, just an observation, and I'm pretty sure we're going to get used to it really easily for a tour of the phone's button and port layout on the right side, you have the red power button and the return of the volume rocker, which I'm glad they put back on the bottom. You have access to the sim tray, an USB c port and speaker and up on top, you have another speaker what looks like to be an IR blaster and a microphone.

So, yes, you are getting stereo speakers on the mate 40 pro, and it's a good companion for its display that measures in at 6.76 inches you're getting an OLED panel with a refresh rate of 90 hertz, which I believe is a good compromise between the benefits of a high refresh rate and power consumption, and it's at full. HD plus resolution picture quality is, of course, perfect with the deep blacks and colors that we're used to seeing on OLED panels, but you're also getting that very drastic curve on the display, which is at 88 degrees. Now, usually with something like this, I would be concerned about accidental touches, but so far it's been behaving. Of course, because of the OLED panel, you have access to things like an in-display fingerprint scanner that unlocks the phone very quickly and one of the things that got a pretty big reaction during our live stream for the mate 40 pro eyes on display. This will basically allow you to glance at your phone to check if you have any notifications or simply check the time.

It also has pretty cute animations for you to choose from under the hood of the Huawei Mate.40 pro is their latest and what they claim to be is their greatest roster. Yet the Karin 9000 that they paired with 8 gigabytes of ram and 256 gigabytes of storage. It's a little too soon for me to really see the difference between this and the Karin 990 in terms of performance. But if Huawei's claims about this soc are true, then we're looking at some really great hardware here, juicing up the system is a 4 400 William hour battery and knowing how emu's battery management is and how NASCAR chipsets have been power efficient. I fully expect this to last at least a day and a half which of course depends on your usage.

Like I mentioned earlier, you are getting support for Huawei's 66 watt supercharge, and I did try it out a little in 10 minutes. I was able to go from 20 all the way up to 53, so this phone will definitely be up and running really quickly and now the moment you've all been waiting for the cameras, and in case you missed the live stream. Here's what you're getting with the Huawei Mate 40 pro you have a 50 megapixel, ultravision camera. This is their main shooter with an aperture of f 1.9. You have a 20 megapixel cine camera, which is their ultra-wide.

And, lastly, you have the 12 megapixel periscope that gives you five times: optical zoom and up to 50 times digital zoom. It also looks like you have a fourth camera, but that's the laser autofocus system. I've only taken a few sample shots so far, but here they are for taking selfies, you have a 13 megapixel front shooter in that pill, shaped punch, hole and alongside that is their gesture sensor or 3d depth, sensing camera. This gives you access to air gestures which are pretty responsive. So I see this as a plus, especially if you have to answer the phone, and you haven't washed your hands yet and actually guys.

That's pretty much it for the Huawei Mate 40 pro. Obviously, there's more testing to be done more photos to be taken. I still have to see what the video capabilities of this phone is like, but with everything I've seen so far. Let me stress that so far this is shaping up to be one of the best camera phones. We've tried out this year, we'll have to see it side by side with some of the phones that we have here, but it's definitely one of the strongest in the bunch and with that, thank you so much for dropping by and spending a few minutes with me.
