Holiday 2016: Kyocera DuraForce PRO Demo with John Chier

Oh, yeah Steve masters here at Pep gone with John from Kyocera how're you doing Steve doing well. You guys got a lot of stuff on the Shelf here, but I know you wanted to zero in on this one product. So, let's hear about it, so Kyocera is the leader when it comes to ruggedized, ruggedized mobile devices in north and copying machines. We actually do some great document solutions too, but on the mobile device side we have really carved out a leadership position when it comes to durable and rugged devices. So what we mean by that certified to military standard 810g, which, if you look it up is it includes everything from dust, proof drop, proof, shock, proof, temperature, proof, humidity, proof everything your phone might run into on a daily basis that damages and ruins most phones. Our phones are designed to thrive in that kind of environment, they're also completely waterproof.

It's called ip68, and it's for ingress protection, ingress protection, sixty-eight, meaning fully dustproof, and you can submerge the phone and up to six and a half feet of water for up to a half an hour right here. Any seepage. That's correct, Rob behind us on the table here we have phones that have been running in that aquarium since 5:30. We can certify them to thirty minutes, that's the standard, but these devices will just keep on running no matter the conditions you use them, and it's great for people, whether you do you know if you want to call it a dirty job, whether you're doing construction, whether you're in transportation, logistics in the military is great or if you're an adventure sports type. You know whether you like surfing go into the beach mountain biking, skiing, these types of phones, they're, designed to thrive where other phones die.

It's like having a protective case built into your device without having to pay or have the added size and bulk of a protective case. So the case it feels like it has a case on it to be honest with you, but this is how the phone comes from the store. The one you hand it to me. It's a little heavier than your standard off-the-shelf phone, but what you get is the protection of a case and I always tell people to think of elementary school. For example, when you have to build the little cardboard protector for an egg and drop it off the roof.

Even if you put a protective case on your standard phone and drop it in quite protected cosmetically, but the phone inside is still very fragile. So this is the way the phone comes from the carrier, but you don't get the compromised usability that a lot of cases provide where you have to open things to plug in chargers. You have covers on the displays this right out of the box for the price. Honestly of a lot of cases gives you that protection right off the shelf. Is it the same Gorilla Glass that is used on all phones or do you guys have a proprietary glass? So we do use to harden style glass like a Gorilla, Glass and most of our phones, but we actually became the first in North America, actually in the world, to offer a mass-market device with a pure sapphire screen.

This particular device that you're holding does use the hardened glass, but Kyocera also does make products with sapphire displays in them too, that are virtually scratch proof, Wow cool, all right. Let's talk about. You know, phones catching on fire, because that's hot the news right now right have you guys, you know, obviously tested this thing in charge in a million times and yeah, absolutely the phones, you're talking about I, think everyone's well aware of them. Now what we would tell people are those phones were using an absolutely new type of battery chemistry called in trying to get more life out of the battery, and that's why they, you would ask them I, wouldn't dare to speak for them, but they were using a new battery technology called lithium polymer. What we're using in all of our devices is the tried-and-true lithium-ion battery technology, where these phones I mean you, it's a one-in-a-million chance, and even that may be a stretch.

This is a very tried and true technology. That's been around for years now: okay, a lifetime of a charge as far as one charge on a device with our devices. This particular phone has over three thousand William hour battery, which is a very significantly larger battery than most phones you're, going to get a full day of use out of this easily. We also include some power management software on the phone that lets you disable some features as the battery drains and also cuts off. Some background connectivity features that you're not using so really meant to extend the life of your battery, also includes wireless charging, so it makes it really easy and convenient to be charged on the fly, all right, the money factor.

How much is it that is probably the most attractive thing I like to position, our phones, it's kind of a three-legged stool. You have the performance, you have the rugged, station or durability, and then you have the value. These devices are about half the cost of the leading phones on the market. Right now, if you look at an iPhone or a Galaxy series, you're talking 300 bucks or what is actually selling right now, brand-new at AT&T for 418 dollars out the door no contract on contract. You can get them much less expensive than that, and you know if you buy them from Chaos Eric om, you cannot.

All of our phones are sold through the carriers themselves. We are more than happy, though, if you're a business user and need help customizing this phone for your industry, whether it's getting industry, specific software, whether you're, caterpillar or and you're out there with the tractors and the earth movers yeah. So we would, for example, work with a company like busy-busy. It makes a great application that goes with our phones that helps with construction time tracking can use geotagging to help you track with your heavy machinery for invoicing. We have a number of partners that we're happy to work with businesses.

To put you together with a great total solution, whether it's hardware accessories or software, to make the phone fit your business. Well, if you're, looking for tough rugged and thanks again, Bruce Bennett, that's divorce pro at AT&T, 418 bucks! It's killer deal right now, thanks for talking to us, you got it! Thank you.
