Google Pixel 4a Unboxing and First Impressions

Hi guys welcome to phone99, and here is the Google Pixel 4a, and this is actually an Indian unit and for the first time it's come at an incredible price. It's launching on the 16th of October in India, and we already have it thanks to the Google team- and this is uh for the first time, a pixel uh series device in India which is launching at a very attractive price point. So back when we were talking to google uh sometime some few weeks back when we had the briefing about the 4a, and they did tell us that the five is not coming, but they would definitely bring the 4a at an aggressive price point and why they have got it right. So I yet to fully use the device so just copped the package today, and we thought we'll bring you the unboxing right away. So this is the retail box, the Pixel 4a would ship in, and this is vermin from phone arena, and this is yeah. So, let's go ahead, take a look and unbox the Pixel 4a and straight out of the back we'll get on with the pricing.

So the MRP is thirty, one thousand nine. Ninety-nine. For this one, and in Flipkart big billion day sales, you can get it for twenty-nine thousand nine. Ninety-nine yeah, the effective price, is around twenty uh, nine, nine. Ninety-nine and you might get some bank discounts as well, and this is for the first time uh pixel, which is launching every time when a pixel launches in India, like the consumers and us and the media, do about the pricing, because if you compare it to the US pricing uh, it is the disclaimer.

The difference in disparity is slightly high, but this time round the disparity is not much. It's uh about 349 dollars in the U. S. , which is about 25, 26, 000, and you're, getting it for about 3 000, more you factor in taxes and duties. That's, okay and- and this model, particularly for India, is also a dual sim model.

So the US one is not uh dual sim and certain markets don't have a dual sim feature, but this one has a dedicated, uh NATO sim and an easy built in, so you can use dual sim uh functionality, and also they have the uh headphone jack as well. So, let's dive in- and this is the retail box- and it's actually made in Vietnam yeah this time around. The unit that we have got is so this comes in just black color. That's the one color of the device in India this time around and, as you can see, you have the camera module in the back. It's a single mp module along with the flash, and you have the fingerprint sensor as well.

This is a matte finish of the device which would not get the finger spin smudges uh, like the glossy back, would get like. We had it on the 3a, which was a glossy back, but this time around they're going with a matte black finish, which is very classy and coming to the accessories. So this is an 18 watt adapter. So it has a fast charging. Uh 18 watt yeah- and this is again a type c, two type c, so it supports power delivery as well: uh yeah the adapter.

So this is 18 what you're saving that we are shipping, a fast charger in the box as well, for this uh price right, and also you get an USB type-c to a type, a dongle as well, and a sim ejector tool and a sim ejector tool as well and a quick start guiding some other paperwork. Let's check out the SAR value, if that's available somewhere, the star value is available. Uh for my box in the box yeah, it's a 0.99 watt per kg for head and 1.19 watt per kg for body, okay and yeah, so lets uh unwrap the plastic, and so let's put up the device. Let's take up the plastic and wow it's a pretty compact phone. I mean uh.

If you hold it in the hand, and we also have for comparison?s sake. We have the pixel 3 from last year and this is also a pixel 3. So that's a black pixel 3. This is a white pixel 3. I also have the Pixel 3a as well 3axl, and this feels very similar to the pixel 3 in terms of the design and body weight and weight distribution.

And surprisingly, Google didn't come up with the 4a excel variant, so they said, there's not a tool, so they did confirm to us that they are not bringing uh excel version of the forage this time around, and they want to keep the price as affordable as possible, considering the kind of economy and uh with what's going on in the world. So we saw this with uh apple uh, launching the iPhone SE 2 with Samsung launching a few affordable phones and OnePlus launching the nod and that's the kind of the momentum you're seeing in the industry and Google is uh following the same strategy. So we have the uh regular, 484a, there's no excel and wow. That screen is actually pretty nice. It's a 5.8 inch OLED display, and you also have a punch over camera on the front, which is a 8mp camera and to the back. You have the uh 12mp, that's a 12mp module on the back and you for people who, like the headphone jack, there is a headphone jack on the 4a, which many of you would rejoice and been asking for.

It was there on the 3a and 3xl as well last year. So with the 3 and three XL uh, one of the uh nitpicking thing was soc. I guess they use the snapdragon 670 and this time around they have come up with a snapdragon 730 g, which is a pretty decent GPU, and they also have a fingerprint sensor, which is great because considering all of us uh have kind of wear a mask and also, I think, cost wise. It's a little expensive to get an in-display fingerprint sensor, so we're keeping what if they call it. I think the pixel imprint, if I'm right, so that's the name for the finger spin scanner in pixel devices, that's booted up, so the device is booted up, and the screen is pretty good in terms of viewability.

It's an old screen, so it's pretty nice, and we would definitely do the complete review soon, but first impressions. How does it look pretty decent? It's a very compact device, it's a pretty compact device, and you're getting more large and larger. You've got a 3000 you've managed to cram in three thousand and one forty MH battery inside, which is decent um, considering it's coming with a fast charging, 18 watt charger as well. So I would assume this is something looking at the form factor. I would assume the battery is a little lesser, but it looks like pretty sufficient because considering even the 3a uh excel 4 000 3000 something similar yeah, but they managed to shrink it down to uh like three thousand ones.

Forty images on this form factor, considering even the Pixel 4a from last year, did not even have 3000 my battery right. So it's pretty nice to see yeah coupled with the 730 yeah. So one quick note, so the main sim is a dedicated NATO sim and, let's probably open it up. Seeing a lot of you guys always ask these questions. We figured out a way.

I think google had a way to enable dual sim on the pixel 3 series through the betas. I think we did try it. It did work, so it was a DS, uh, dual sim, dual standby. Yes, so that's the standard one these days, okay, so it has the IMEI number on the sim tray and also have 1600 amp data. Uh Mountain View.

The Google's address as well. So it's a NATO sim slot on the left side of the device. So, let's quickly walk through the specs, so you have a five point. Eight one inch OLED display on the front with a camera. It's a 1080p panel.

They call it FHD, plus yeah, but essentially just full HD and on the bottom you have the stereo speakers and type c port, and you also have a power button. Uh. I think it's got the Google Assistant shortcut on it. I think with the android 11, the power menus, and actually so yes, so this is running on android 11. As you can see, the shortcuts are slightly uh different.

So, as you can see, if you hold the power button, you can see a different kind of, and we also saw another update uh on the device, just as we unboxed it. Uh, you know actually we'll check out the security patch, so let's probably open up the about screen, so you can see uh, what's it running on and the storage, so the in terms of the specs, it's powered by the Qualcomm snapdragon 730 g processor, it's an outscore processor, and it's also got six gigs of ram, which is decent for a phone. At this price point. Normally you would see four gigs, or probably something for gigs, so you're getting six gigs out of the box of storage. This time around, it's an UFS 2.1, it's an UFS, 2.1 storage as well, and google promised I mean, told us that we could expect about a day of battery uh in terms of real world views from what they've seen on this device and as for the updates, they have told three years. Three years of updates is what google generally commits to pixel series, and we already have an update, and we haven't uh updated it because we don't want to interrupt the unboxing and the camera is something I am looking forward to using, because the pixel cameras are uh glass apart, I mean I've used.

Uh right from the pixel series, I've used the pixel original one, okay, the pixel XL and then the pixel 2, the pixel 3 I mean the 3a was still the same camera as the three, and then I mean we didn't manage to get the get all the four uh, but we didn't get it in India, but I still continue to use the three uh for like photos, we're not traveling anywhere now, but still kind of looking at those photos. The three has been taking. It's just been phenomenal, so pixel camera is something that you can bank upon. I mean, I think the pixel is just all standard right. I mean in terms of at least still photographs.

Video, I think, is something which is debatable, but if you want some uh like, I think it's become like a standard right, so like a benchmark in the smartphone industry. Uh is the camera as good as the pixel or better uh. Not so that's become the standard and that's the kind of hype which pixel has managed to create, and we would be more than happy to see how the Pixel 4a lives up to the expectation um. So that's pretty much it guys, so that was uh kind of the first impressions and unboxing of the Pixel 4a, which is launching in India soon and do let us know in the comments, if you have any questions about the Pixel 4a and as you as we said by the beginning of the video it's priced at about twenty-nine thousand nine, ninety-nine yeah um and uh you're, getting the black variant in India and that's pretty much it and uh. It's going to change the dynamics of the Indian smartphone industry, definitely um under 40k segment under 50k segment, because most people want a smartphone which gets good amount of updates and has a decent camera.

So I think this fits the build very well. So it's going to be interesting to watch this segment. So let us know in the comments. What do you think about the Pixel 4a? Is it worth the hype? Are you going to get one? Are you considering getting one or if you're planning, to get some other device and not this? Why let us know and don't subscribe to phone arena and yeah? That's it press the bell, icon, yeah and hit the bell icon, and thank you guys for watching and see you guys in the next video. Thank you.
