Google Pixel 3a vs Xiaomi Mi 9 vs Google Pixel 3a XL

Welcome everyone I'm Ricky from Tech Talk, and today we're bringing back a comparison or versus video to the channel. So today we're taking a look at the Google Pixel 3 AXL Xiaomi, mid 9 and the Google Pixel 3 a, so these are the latest devices I'm currently testing, so I want to bring these three devices together, as they're similar price range, with a hundred pounds difference here in the UK. The links will be in the description as always to find out where that best price point is looking forward to comparing them, especially with photography and video and I went visiting Oxford. But we're going to have a look around them. Go through the key details, the key differences and then obviously give my personal opinions towards the end. Before we begin, let me know what you think down below by leaving a comment and while you're doing that, make sure to hit that subscribe button, a ring that notification bells state updated so to start off with we're gonna, take a look at the top of our devices.

First, the Google Pixel, 3/8 and 3/8 XL are the same here where they have a 3.5 million phone jack, and also they have a might. Xiaomi me 9 has an IR blaster for remote control, so you can control different aspects in your home with other me, products and other compatible devices, and also you're gonna, find another mic here. Moving around to the right-hand side of our devices. First, with a three AXL you're going to find a bright power button there so identifies, which is your power button, and you have volume controls. This is the same on the 3a, but because of the black that just black affects they're they're both the same, and there is no textual differences between them.

Moving on to the 9 you've got your volume on top. First, then you have your power button. Sadly, these are both the same, no color difference or textual difference, and they've really blended into the body. Turning to the bottom of our device with the 9 you're going to find a speaker a mic and USB, and this is only one speaker on this device and is downward firing. Looking at the 3/8 and the 3/8 XL you've got one or two stereo speakers, your mic and USB.

So it's nice that you have a stereo speaker option with a three a and three AXL taking a look down the left-hand side. First, with the Google Pixel 3, a and 3 AXL you've got this squeezed effect, and you can squeeze, and you'll get Google Assistant to come up, as you can talk to Google assistant and ask for every service that you want. You're also going to find a SIM tray that will take a NATO sized SIM card and no micro SD cards. Moving on to the 9 you're going to find a Google Assistant button, so a dedicated button that you can press and bring up Google assistants and ask Google assistants everything you need to know then also you're going to find it's in-tray again. This is a NATO size, SIM card and also cannot take a micro SD cards when we look at the devices side-by-side here.

Let's talk about the weight and the thickness. First, the weight of the 3a is 147 grams. The XL version is a hundred and sixty-seven grams, and the Xiaomi me knowing is a hundred and seventy-three grams when it comes to thickness of three eight point two millimeters, and this is the same as the three ax L. The nine is slightly thinner at seven point: six millimeters, as I mentioned when we looked at the bottom of our devices, the Google Pixel three, a and three AXL offer a stereo speaker system, two one at the top one downward firing, sadly the Jam II mean nine only has one. But let's do a video test and sound test now to see how well they both look and they both sound everyone body made a friend in class.

No, no. She literally made a new friend porky is the most important toy to Bonnie right now we all have to make sure nothing happens to it. We have a situation hi. My name is Gabby Kathy. We can't stay.

Yes, you can boy. What are you doing here? No time to explain, come with me. We need to get back to our kids Oh Sheriff. What do you always come into the rescue body? Beautiful buddy? Who needs a kid's room when you can have all of this Wow wedding? Are we going to Bonnie can't teach this old toy new tricks, you'd be surprised, so I really enjoyed that film make sure you go and watch it, but now, let's actually talk about the details in the display and the specs that you're going to receive on each model. So, first, there are slight differences because you have two different sizes here from Google, so we're going to start off with a Google 3a.

The display size is 5.6, that's always corner to corner. That's a full HD plus. The resolution is 22 20 by 1080p and that is AG o LED panel pixel density is 441 pixels per inch. You have an 18 by 5 by 9 aspect ratio. The display is made up on dragon trail, and it also offers an always-on display.

So, moving on to the Google Pixel 3a XL, the display is a 6-inch display around the corner to corner it's a Full HD Plus again with the resolution of 2160 by 1080 a go LED panel with a pixel density of 402. So you lose a little of that density because you have gone up 0.4 of an inch in screen size aspect ratio is 18 by 9. Again the screen is made up of dragon trail. Also, it has an always-on display living on to the Xiaomi me 9. It's a Super, AMOLED 6.3 9 inch display with a resolution of 1080 by 2340. The pixel density is 403 pixels per inch, which is actually slightly higher than the XL version.

You have DCI p3 and HDR 10 as well-built into this display. You can really enjoy your content and I hope that came through when we showed the trailer so moving on. Let's talk about our front-facing cameras and actually selfies, everyone loves taking selfies, and you want a great device to take selfies with as you'll notice, the Google Pixel 3, 8 and 3/8 XL. Have this larger border along the top compared to a dewdrop or teardrop notch design on the 9, which I actually prefer that let's talk about a front camera so on the 3a and 3/8 XL you're going to find an 8, megapixel, F 2.0 fixed focus, and it's going to give you 84 degrees field of view. As I'm talking about this you're going to see some shots I've taken on this device.

If you want to record video, you can do that at 1080p, 720p or 480p. That's all at 30 frames per second moving on to the Xiaomi me 9 to 20 megapixels, front-facing camera, but then F 2.0. So it's still the same aperture it video records at 1080p at 30 frames per second. So you only have one option here so slightly more pixels. But does it look the same? Let me know what you think are the photos that are going across now to turn around to the rear camera, where it gets really exciting and 2019.

It's all about cameras and matter being a single lens with the Google Pixel device, a triple lens that we see on the 9, or you can have them quad lenses that we've seen on other models. So what do we get on these devices? So, first, with the Google Pixel 3 a and the 3/8 XL, the camera is exactly the same. It's a 12 point to dual pixel Sony AMX, 3, 6 3 sensors has autofocused with dual pixel phase detection an obstacle and electronic image stabilization. So there's a lot of different options in there quite sort of high-end words. If you're not heard about them, it means it is stabilized your images and your images should look crisp and clean a Sony.

IMF sensor is used throughout majority of devices now, and you have just different levels. The dual pixel was well really helped to actually get that depth and enjoyed that portrait option as well that you can get from your device. So it's an F, 1.8 aperture, and you get 46 degrees field of view. So when it comes to video recording, you can do it at 1080p at 30.60 or 120 frames per second 720p can be done at 30, 60 or 240 frames per second, and there is the option of recording in 4k at 30 frames per second moving on now to the Xiaomi me9. So you have a 48 megapixel F 1.8 y half inch Sony IMF 586 sensor. It has laser phase.

Detection autofocus has 12 megapixel F 2.2 telephoto laser phase, detection, autofocus and 2 times optical zoom, and then also you're going to get a 16 megapixel F 2.2 ultra-wide laser phase, detection autofocus with a hundred and seventeen degrees field of view. So you can get everything and everyone in shots which is really awesome. When it comes to video recording, you can get 2160, which is 4k at 30 or 60 frames per. Second, such a slight improvement over the Google devices at 1080p. You can shoot at 1320 or 240 frames per second and then finally, at 1080p you can do an impressive 960 frames per second, so moving on to IO and actually what is used on your device, starting off with the Google Pixel, 3/8 and 3/8 excel it uses Android 9.

It uses the purest version where it just simply flies through the systems. Very quick, very easy, very gesture controls, so you might need to turn some settings on to help you. If you have an accessible need, as you know, I do all I did was large text and then sometimes, if I need to I can actually enlarge the display as well. The gesture control system is really easy. Swipe up, you'll see all of your opening applications.

You can dismiss these one by one swipe all the way up, and you're going to see your system apps and all of your applications. You do have a search box at the top. Also, by touching and holding the actual drag bar, you can actually see the individual letters, and then you can find the application you want that way, which is really helpful. You have a home button and then, when you're in an application, you do have a back button to come back home. The one great feature like I said already with this device is the squeeze option you can squeeze to bring up Google Assistant.

You can change and adjust the squeeze strength that you need to put into your device, but something a little different, a little of fun and something new that I haven't actually experienced too much before hands, but overall, the using the UI, simple basic and very easy to do, and I think that's the main thing. It's nice to have a color option or theme as well. You can change between light or dark theme or adjust, depending on your wallpaper. Your widgets are easy to identify very big, very large and very understanding as well. The brightness, as you can see from the video, is really impressive and that really helps you in bright sunlight when you're outside moving on to the Xiaomi me 9 now and the UI this uses, and that is Android 9 mixed with me.

UI 10 so has two different options there to mix and blend together to bring different features and different options. So one of the major difference is when you come to the far left on the Google pixel device. You actually see like a live feed from your Google and updates that you need and want from Google. If you then do that on the mean nine you're going to see it's slightly different here, where you have specific applications, you can jump to Google assistance, and it's giving you options different choices to make a note or change or customize, depending on your choice, giving you a calendar and time, that's a perfect option. Like I said it does have a dedicated, Google System button.

By pressing this, this will highlight Google assistance, and you can ask Google Assistant anything as you'll notice at the bottom of my device. I have com positive touch buttons. Do you have your home button? You have your back button, and then you do have a menu button. So when you press menu button, this all looks slightly different from what you see on other Android devices, which is really nice to see something different is, instead of keeping it all generic and all the same again. You can simply swipe apps a way to dismiss them, or you can use a button then to one-click and remove all looking at your notifications and your widget area, again simple, bold and really easy to see, and that's a really impressive thing.

I do like the big brightness bar there. You can really pump it up, and you can see everything on your display again pressing home. You can come home. The maneuvering around the device is simple, easy, it's a little more detailed. They add different things because it is a different provider.

Google keep it nice and pure. There are things in here, but they are deeply buried in the information there, so a little harder to find. But once you do find them it's nice. You have that option on here so moving on and let's have a look and delve into the engine room of our devices and what's powering them and the key specs in here to run our devices and run the applications that we want to use and push them to its utmost limits and really just it delves in and enjoy content either. If you're sharing all the time like I, do or if you're watching Netflix Amazon Prime YouTube, whatever you do gaming as well pushing them to its gaming limits, you want to know what's in that engine range, let's unlock and take a little peek, so starting off with a Google Pixel 3a3 AXL they're both the same, and it's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor, which is an optical, and you have cores running at 2.0, gigahertz and 1.7 gigahertz. The GPU is Anna Irish 615, and it also has a Titan M security module built into the devices to keep them locked down and keep all your privacy key on your Google Pixel devices.

Here they have four gigabytes of RAM on both the 3a and the three AXL. The difference is when it comes to battery the 3a has a three thousand William hour battery. The 3a Excel has a three thousand seven hundred million power battery. It's a slight little differences there. So when it comes to recharging them, batteries on the Google Pixel, three eight and three AXL you can get seven hours of usage with just 15 minutes of child and I have tested that, and that is pretty accurate, give or take I, don't know half an hour, I would say, and it does offer 18 watt charging.

So you can really charge up your device really quickly make sure you always use the cable and the plug that comes provided they're moving on to the jam. Ii mean I'm. This use is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon, 855 processors, so a flagship processor in this device there's also optical, and you get one court on it at two point: a cue, her three cores running at 2.4 gigahertz and four cores running at 1.8 gigahertz a little spread out there compared to the 3/8 and 3/8 XL. This has 6 gigabytes of RAM, so you're getting a pushing ram as well, and the GPU is Adonis 640 again slightly better than what you find on the 3a and the 3a XL when it comes to battery it's in the middle is. So the battery on the 9 is 3300 familiar Tower you get fast charging at 27 watts quick charge for so that's really helpful.

So it means any cable will charge it up, and also you get fast. Wireless charging at 20 watts again I've tried this out really impressed and really pleased to see that I do like to have wireless charging on my devices, because I have a charge of sat on. My desk I can just simply place it down, walk away pick it up place it down just check in social media, just check in different things, there's so much easier and taking it in and out of the cube all the time. It's a shame. The 3a + 3 8 XL, doesn't have wireless charging, but we might see that on the next step up in the coming years, so coming up and giving you a couple of little extras, so the colors, maybe you want to know about the colors.

The 3a is a just black. The 3a XL is clearly white. The Xiaomi me 9 is a piano black. These devices offer two different types of fingerprint sensor, so the Shame mean 9 has an in screen fingerprint sensor, which has been improved. I've had some issues where you'll see it pulsating and flash all that and never unlocked, which is really frustrating.

You actually have to swipe up and put code in or lock it and then try and unlock it, and that will work again. I do prefer an in screen one, but where google places their fingerprint sensor on the back is ideal anyway, because you normally have a finger line. There me personally I still think the one on the rear is quicker than the in screen fingerprint sensor, but we'll see improvements throughout the year and the other key thing that I do like that. I have mentioned previously is when you come to the far left on the device here. Some are different compared to others, so on the Google Pixel 3a3 AXL you're, going to get a Google feed here with all the latest news that you like and want to have from your device on.

They mean 9 you're, going to get their own personal me, you I, sort of interface and control with different applications, different features and different options that they want you to use. So it depends on slight differences and what you prefer that you would choose, so one of the little let-downs between all three of these devices is no micro. SD card supports, so this can be a little of a letdown depending on what you do with your device. Yes, you can use cloud services with Google photos and the Google Pixel devices you're going to get unlimited backup of Google photos. It's not going to count against your storage, which is perfect, and I like that feature.

Obviously, you can use the cloud and different options on the Jamie device, or you can use a third-party cloud service option to add more storage, but just depends on your need and your usage like for me, I record on devices I take footage on devices all the time. A story is just gonna. Go like that. That's the problem, so it depends on what you do, and your personal preference is I just like to see a micro SD card option on these devices. For that just in case moment, I need to put one in there so talking about the actual device itself and how it feels and how it's made.

So first, I'm going to give this to the Xiaomi me9. It's got born in Gorilla Glass 5 on the back and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front, so it's going to be really preventative from drops bumps and accidental knocks. So that's perfect and really impressive. It also comes with an aluminum frame. I think it gives a nicer design.

It depends on if you like that glass aspect or if you're gonna, like that different aspects, you're gonna, find on the Google Pixel devices. It found personal preference again. I know it just feels a bit more weighty. Obviously it is a bit more weighty. It just feels a little more premium.

Potentially some people might say that I don't know, but just knowing that it's got that Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front means when I accidentally drop it or if I don't know. If I don't mean to drop it, but it falls off my desk as they do because there's so many on here. I know: I should be protected, always try and put it in a case as well to give that extra protection. It will deflect through the case instead of actually through the device. So the Google Pixel 3a and the 3a XL are made up of a polycarbonate body with a dragon trail glass.

So they don't use Corning Gorilla Glass on these devices. I do like the two-tone effect. Where you have a matte look and a glossy look on the device is really nice, especially on the black model. I think it stands out a lot more compared to the white model here, but it's really impressive to see again. It depends on your choice.

You might prefer that for me, I, like it stylish, is different again, it's nice to have something different. Obviously you don't have wireless charging, which could be a potential issue if you are so used to using wireless charging. Now I just want to add a side note here about accessibility, as you know, I'm very key on accessibility and making sure our devices are accessible for all, no matter their abilities. As you know, I'm registered blind and do my videos because of this reason and my passion for technology I'm really pleased to say the accessibility settings are on here, easy to get to easy, manipulated the Shame mean 9 ones are a little varied. You have to go through subsections to get to them.

Sadly, mine didn't work, and I found out. Why and that's because this is a fresh unit, which means the software is slightly behind the actual retail software. So there was a glitch in my software when I made my accessibility, video, and I'm pleased to say it's working on other devices, but I'm pleased to say the accessibility settings should work on your device. If he doesn't drop me a comment down below, we try and boost you up to the latest software, but otherwise on the Google Pixel devices. A couple of new settings which is perfect like the live, transcribe and transcribe everything you're doing as I even say it now.

It could transcribe it for me, as my CCS and my subtitles for my videos, which is really impressive, to see I'm really pleased to see the accessibility settings are on here. So when you first start up your device on the Google devices, you will see an accessibility option on the mean 9. You will see it halfway through again a slight improvement that can come in future updates. If you watch the video through to this point, you're going to be in true on the prices, the Google Pixel 3/n starts at 399 pounds. The three AXL is 469 pounds.

The Jami me9 is 465 pounds currently on Amazon through their websites 499 pounds. That's why I bought these three devices together, because they are quite similar in spec also, they are quite different with the Snapdragon processor. There is in the mean nine. It makes it a lot more powerful, so it depends on what your thoughts are in. Coming into.

My final thoughts is I've enjoyed using all three devices. That's simple and easy to say: I prefer the UI of Google I. Think it's easier to use a mean it just needs to be cleared up a little just made a little easier and simple to use, and maybe add them a couple of touches from Google by making the menus easier to read by making but actually having your Google News by switching and choosing. Overall, both phones have worked really well and when I say both phones, I've used the three a and 3/8 excel at the same sort of time. So we're talking about two different models here, like with the Google and a Xiaomi, and it's all down to personal preference on what you think.

What do you want? You might be branded loyal and choose I want stable, Google or I want to stay with Xiaomi. It's up to you and I never like to force a device on anyone. I like to stay open and honest at all times, giving my key feedback and my key highlights I like a dark theme on my device and please both of these have them and glad they've got all the accessibility options. That's a real plus, obviously, on the mean line, you don't have a headphone jack, but you have an adapter we're used to using adapters. Now it's nice to see a headphone jack on the Google Pixel devices, that's a plus! For me, it depends on what you want.

So when you walk away from this, video, just take a look and think of what you're going to do with your device. If it's photography all the time, take a look at the images I've shared online through my Facebook, Twitter and also Instagram, the links will be in description if it's enjoying gaming, maybe potentially then you're going to go to the knowing because of its latest CPU and GPU. It's going to be more powerful and more intense. So it's down to your personal choice of what you're going to do with your device. You want simple, easy to use, and pure androids go for Google I.

Just want you to look away from this video enjoying the video understanding more of what I do and understanding the key details of a device and why you potentially would use a different device compared to someone else. So thanks always for watching and remember if you're new to Tech Talk make sure you subscribe ring the notification bell, and I'll see you in my next video bye for now.
