Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G Review - The Honest Truth about Folding Phones!

What is up guys it's RJ here, and this is the Galaxy Z full 2. It is hands down the most innovative piece of tech in 2020. This has been my daily driver for the past two weeks, and here are my honest thoughts, of course, whenever you do buy something new whatever it may be, you are over the moon excited about it. For the first few days, it's called the honeymoon phase. Of course. Inevitably the hype does die down a little, and then you're really able to focus down on the pros and cons of a device with the galaxy z42.

This device is in every way a transcended piece of technology, but I do have mixed emotions about it. So, let's talk with the galaxy z42 Samsung improved this device in every way possible from the original galaxy fold. They addressed everything that was wrong about the original z fold and honestly gave us a foldable phone that we can use as our daily driver just take one second to really let that statement resonate, because this device could potentially be the future of smartphones, especially if Samsung or some other OEM is able to bring down the price of foldable by a significant amount. I can see foldable going mainstream, but there are some things that need to be addressed first, which I will cover towards the end of the video. Also, if you guys want to see more content on the z full 2, including a video that is dropping soon called a day in the life with my galaxy z4 2 then do consider subscribing to the channel and leave a like on this video for the algorithm, because that would be much appreciated if you're only concerned about the full two was the durability.

I'm here to tell you, this is a very durable device. Call me crazy, but I've been taking this thing around with me. Wherever I go without a case and to my surprise, there isn't a single scratch on it, and this hinge has held up just fine. I kid you not. I open and close this device over, maybe a hundred times per day, just to hear the satisfaction of it closing shut this year.

The hinge feels very durable. You can position this hinge in almost any angle in what Samsung calls flex mode, and it will stay in place firmly, no matter the angle without any problems at all. Calling this device premium is an understatement. This device almost feels like it's worth the three thousand dollars just because of this premium, peeling build this mystic bronze color has a very nice touch to it, and this color definitely hits different under direct sunlight, but do be warned, though, using this phone one-handed when it's folded, you could definitely feel that it is a thick boy carrying the fold around on the daily can be daunting. There is definitely an adjustment process in terms of weight and if you are coming to the fold from say, like a pixel device, the weight is noticeable, and it never really goes away.

Even after two weeks of using the fold on the daily, it still feels like a really heavy device in my hands. So if you do value portability, you do need to think twice before putting the trigger on this device. The main attraction towards foldable is obviously this inner display. When unfolded. We have a massive 7.6 inch.120 hertz display that utilizes a punch hole design so that ugly notch from last year's fold is gone, and this year we have an 89 screen to body ratio. Now everyone around me is always asking: does this crease down the middle, bother you and to be honest with you guys, it really doesn't either way.

Most of the time we are looking at our devices from straight on and from straight on, I really can't tell that there is a crease there. So, no matter where you go, you always have this mini movie. Theater experience in the palm of your hands. The combination of this massive display and these amazing sounding dual speakers. It really does make for a mini cinematic experience all in the palm of your hands.

My only complaint would be that a lot of video you do watch nowadays on YouTube and Netflix is either uploaded in a 16 by nine or two by one aspect ratio. So you do get these big black bars on either side. So I do low-key kind of wish that everyone would start uploading video in a four by three aspect ratios. So I could really make use of this massive display properly. Gaming, on the other hand, is a completely different experience.

If you do play a lot of mobile games, this phone is the one to get keep in mind. We do have a 120hz variable, refresh rate system on this display and that combination with 12 gigabytes of ram combined with this 7.6 inch panel, really takes mobile gaming to the next level. I've been playing a lot of Call of Duty mobile on this, and I have never had a better gaming experience coming from a smartphone. This outer cover display is a 6.2 inch. AMOLED panel, it is more usable this year since it is a bigger display, but I just find it to be far too tall and narrow.

I mean sure I can send the quick text on the cover display sometimes, but reaching the top of the display, for anything, is a two-handed job. I would have personally like to see Samsung make the cover display a bit wider, something like what Huawei is doing with the mate x2. Quite honestly, I only use the cover display about ten percent of the time. My other ninety percent comes from the inner display on the z for two one. UI takes multitasking to the next level, and I've been really utilizing all of its multitasking capabilities on the inner display.

Multitasking is a key reason why I believe foldable have a bright future, just being able to use Twitter and WhatsApp. At the same time, all while responding to text messages on the side is an experience that you can only get from a Samsung foldable. The z42 comes with five cameras on the rear. We have a 12 megapixel, wide ultra-wide and telephoto. This may not be the best camera system, like the one found on the note 20 ultra, but this is a very good camera system.

Nonetheless, recently I did go on a hike near Niagara Falls, and I just tweeted some pictures that I took from the fold over on Twitter and for some reason it got a lot of traction. People just seem to love this phone's camera capabilities. Just take a look at these pictures for a second. These are absolutely stunning, and this is where Samsung's color profile really shines. Yes, the pictures are over saturated and a bit punchy, but it really works in some certain scenarios.

I really feel like Samsung's color profile really brought some of these pictures to life. I'm not really a photo person. Furthermore, I rarely take pictures of anything, but with the z-fold 2. Furthermore, I find myself taking a lot more photos. You can see a lot more of your surrounding environment just because of this bigger display and overall, it really makes taking pictures on the fold too, a really fun experience.

One of my favorite features on the z42 is the ability to use the main cameras to take some really high quality selfies, all while being able to frame yourself properly using the cover display. The full 2 just does a perfect job of giving you the best of both worlds, just because of its unique form. Factor before I got the full 2 in my hands. I was truly worried about this 4 500 William hour battery. I just thought it wouldn't be enough to get me through a full day of usage, but man was I ever wrong, no matter how I used the z42, it consistently delivered a full day of use with some room to spare, keep in mind.

Furthermore, I do use the inner display a good percentage of the time, and even then I was still getting around eight to nine hours of screen on time, especially when considering this is equipped with a 120 hertz panel. So Samsung did a terrific job of fine-tuning its software and if you want, you can even tweak it further in battery settings, we also do get rapid charging plugging in the fold for as little as 30 minutes gets you 45 charge and 90 minutes will get you 100 the fold also charges wirelessly, although at a slower rate, but still quick enough. Lastly, the fold does support wireless power share, although at a much slower 4.5 watts, so your devices may take a while to charge the z-fold 2 is an outstanding piece of hardware that also gets the software experience. Just right, Samsung made all the necessary changes on the full 2 and solidified the idea that a phone can also be a tablet this year. The cover display is much improved, although I do wish it was a bit wider, but if you do want you can get by using the cover display for pretty much the entire day.

I find the hinge to be redefined. It is a lot smoother now, and you do have the ability to hold up the phone in pretty much any angle. Gaming on the full two is next level and so is multimedia consumption. The battery life is excellent and the cameras I find are more than competent enough. So what are the drawbacks? Well, for starters, it is a gigantic and a very heavy phone.

It is also not water resistant, and we do not get any kind of expandable storage and, of course we cannot forget the price, this phone costs, 3147, Canadian dollars or 2 000 us dollars. But if you can stomach the price- and you want to experience the world of foldable, then you should probably fall to your future as always. Thank you guys so much for watching and if you did enjoy this review, consider subscribing to the channel. I will catch you all in the next one and don't forget to fold with your tack.
