Galaxy Watch 3 Unboxing and First Look!

Hey, what's going on guys, welcome back Helen here again with droid life, so I've got in my hands. Well, you can see it down there. This is the galaxy watch three. If there was one announcement out of yesterday's big unpacked event from Samsung that I was excited about, it was probably weirdly this one. Like sure the beans look cool, uh, the note 20 ultra is probably going to be a great phone. The tab s7 looks cool.

Of course, I'm really excited about the galaxy fold too, but this guy, you know. I love me, a Samsung watch so uh, let's take uh. Let's take a first look at it here and get it out of the box. Now in case you missed the announcement from yesterday uh. This is the new watch.

There are four models, essentially from Samsung, so galaxy watch. Three is the name for all of them combined, but you have a 41 millimeter version, which is what this one is. You have a 45 millimeter version as well. Those are Bluetooth versions and then there's also LTE versions. So you have a Bluetooth of each and a LTE.

That's the four um. You also have a bunch of colors. So there's this one in the 41 millimeter is mystic, gray or silver, so you have like a black uh rotating bezel and then a silver body. Then there's obviously the mystic bronze, which they're painting on everything um. Those are both the 41 mil.

If you go with the 45 millimeter version, you have an all black version, and then I think also this one, this silver, so those are kind of your color options. Um we're looking at a starting price of 400 bucks. So this is not an inexpensive watch. Uh. The galaxy watch active two, I believe, topped out at around 300, I think, or at least started at 280.

This one starts at 3.99, so the LTE mod, I'm sorry, the Bluetooth model, which is what I have in the smallest configuration 41 millimeters, is 400. If you go with Bluetooth to 45 mil it jumps up further to 430 and then the Lt models are 450 and 480. So this is, without a doubt, an expensive watch. Um. Let's go ahead and cut through these funny notes.

If you just watched our Pixel 4a unboxing you'll know that that is a 350 dollar phone, so cheaper than this 400 watch. I'm talking about this guy right here, so here's a 350 phone and I didn't have to cut the box open. It had pulled tabs 400 dollar watch more expensive, and I had to cut it um you may be asking Ellen. Why is uh well, first, why is this pink blame best buy stickers for that? Okay, um? Why Ellen did you go with the 41 millimeter version instead of the larger 45? And, to be honest, as you can see, from this watch, I, like smaller watches a 45 millimeter thing would have been way too huge on the uh on the wrist. So we went with the smaller guy uh.

Let's see what we've got in here. This is. It looks like this side is our charger um. If you've ever used the Samsung watch before they all come with the same exact charger wow. This is really.

This is quite the experience here. Samsung all right. We got it out um, they all come with the same charger. So well. Actually, this looks like it might be slightly different from uh than the previous models there are stickers on there, but either way you just slap the watch on there.

Charges wirelessly through that uh the unfortunate thing with most Samsung watches as well. They charge quite slow, so charging them up often takes well over an hour or two hours. Sometimes uh we'll see we'll, we'll test this one and see uh how much quicker it charges but anyway, so they don't give you a power. Brick, you just plug this cord into a computer or your other power bricks slap the watch right on their charges uh! Let's see this side doesn't look like. Oh, this side does open, and it's just some guides.

So I don't care here. Is this beautiful watch nothing else in the box here? That's it so um! We should look at this watch, but without all this junk. So let me clear it all right we're in a little closer here. You got to get. You got to get better, looks at this.

So again, this is the 41 millimeter version, uh mystic silver, so black rotating bezel. Can you hear that clicking yeah sounds good, uh and then silver case uh 20 millimeter bands in here on this guy, the bigger 45 millimeters, I believe, takes 22 millimeter bands? It comes with this leather band with the uh contrast stitching, which I will take off in about two seconds, because I mean it could be nice. It says it's premium, genuine leather. According to uh that I just don't. Like contrast stitching on bands and uh, I tend to like more sporty bands.

There we go yeah, so 20, millimeter uh. It says right there on the band and then again the bigger one I believe is uh 22. , so uh, let's see a little of tour here: specs 41 millimeter model uh. This is a 1.2 inch AMOLED display. Let's see if I can turn it on believe the power button's down here on the bottom turn it on uh 1.2 inch uh. Actually I think you have to plug the thing.

In first, okay, a 1.2 inch AMOLED display gorilla glass on top runs ti zen OS, which is Samsung's wearable OS uh version.5.5 has uh 802.11n Wi-Fi, one gig ram. Eight gig storage and uh well, it weighs 48 grams and uh 5 ATM water resistance and a stainless steel case and uh rotating bezel and two buttons and that's kind of sort of it, a dual-core processor. It is running an Enos processor on the inside Bluetooth, 5.0 um. This thing has a 247 William hour battery. The larger one has a 340 William hour battery.

Obviously the heart rate sensor: there it can perform an electrocardiogram um in Korea and according to Samsung, has now been approved to do that in the U. S. So we should get an electrocardiogram app soon enough, and then you'll be able to do that. It can also detect blood pressure, but I do not believe that has been approved for the US so fully specked out we're talking sleep tracking, we're talking fitness tracking, we're talking heart rate tracking, all that good stuff, and it should last you know at least a day on a full charge. Um.

You know what I got to show you, the rotating bezel. So let me, let's power it up all right. Well, you can see I've got it fired up and uh over here. It's restoring uh old things from other watches, so let's dive in and take a look um by the way when I finally did put it on the charger I'm plugged into a computer, so it could be a slower charge, but at forty-three percent to get to full it said it's going to take like an hour and a half, so I wasn't lying or exaggerating when I talked about how long um these watches take to charge, I wish Samsung would fix that anyway. So uh, let's see here's the watch uh, it's telling me.

I can rotate the bezel to do stuff, which is cool. I can press this button to go back. Furthermore, I can press this to bring up all my apps. Furthermore, I can swipe down here to get into some quick settings stuff and touch the screen with my palm and that'll turn the screen off. Yep that worked, it sure did and that's uh pretty much it.

Oh, that's it you're good to go well! Thank you Samsung. So you can obviously um rotate here, and it'll. Take you through everything um, and you can customize, obviously, all of these different screens. This is a rotating bezel. It's back from the original one um.

If you don't like using the rotating bezel and to be honest, I've never loved it um. You can just swipe through things with your finger like that and that'll. Take you through um. What else you know it's! It's a smartwatch, so I have to do stuff with it like work out and sleep with it on and all that stuff and press the buttons and see how it works. So, there's not really a lot more for me to show you at this time.

Um. Obviously, the health stuff is important to me. That's why I wear this Garmin watch all the time, so I'll work out with it, we'll go for some runs I'll sleep in it, we'll put together the whole sleep and health and all that profile, you'll notice that the display keeps going to sleep. It does have always on display, and I will change that, and this watch face is really awful, so I will change it to something different. Actually, let's, let's just take a look at some watch, faces to see if there's anything cool.

I think this is the one Samsung was sort of teasing in a lot of the promo material and that looks actually looks pretty nice. I was going to always on display it, but that's not turned on yet, so you can't see that, but that looks pretty like a pretty nice. Uh watch face there so uh anyway. Let's let's do the uh the get it on the wrist thing right. This is a watch should probably put it on all right.

We are on wrist. So again, this is the 41 millimeter version. I went with this because 45 millimeters is just too big a watch for most people uh. This actually looks like a really, really nice size. No, this isn't the female version or whatever you want to say.

This is for people who don't like wearing giant watches. All the time like that fits my wrist really nicely. It does wear a little proud. I mean it's, it's an it's a pretty thick watch, but this way as it sits on the wrist I can uh. I can definitely get down with this really, really nice size.

So anyway, that's what it looks like on the wrist I did want to uh. While I have you show you just a quick comparison to some other watches. For example. Here is the original galaxy watch, so there is no galaxy watch 2. They went from this one.

The galaxy watch to the galaxy watch three and it's probably because they did that weird galaxy watch active two things in between there. So here is the original, the smaller version of the original. I believe I think there was two sizes either way um. There is the difference, so they really shrunk, the bezel down rotating bezel again still, but they really shrunk it down, um and then uh as far as thickness goes they're, actually, both still quite thick. In fact, this new one might be, it might be thicker.

It actually looks like it is I'll have to double-check the measurements there. The new one actually might be thicker, so they slim the bezel down and made a thicker taller watch so um anyway, uh there's a quick comparison there. I do actually have a couple of galaxy watch active twos here. So this is the smaller galaxy watch active too. This is just such an incredible watch, and it fits so well and it's so lightweight, and they did a really nice job.

That's why I'm so excited to test this guy out, but there is the smaller watch, and you can see thickness there. It's definitely thicker than that guy and then here is the bigger watch active 2, which is the watch I've worn for most of the past year when I'm not rocking the garment. This is 44 millimeters, I believe so. You can see the size difference there and sideways, also, probably quite thin. So uh again, this is the galaxy watch active three smaller versions, not the bigger one.

This one costs 400 bucks, though these are not inexpensive toys from Samsung. We will start the review from this moment going forward and uh we'll get back to you excited about this one. Droid life, peace.
