Galaxy Note 20 Ultra vs P40 Pro Plus Camera Test Comparison

What's up guys, high here from high tech reviews. Today, two flagship giants go head-to-head in a camera comparison test. We are talking about the Huawei p40 pro plus versus the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra, but before we begin the camera test, I just want to do a quick side by side of the specs to understand what we're working with. I have color-coded the specs, so green text shows, what's in common and red text shows where they differ. So, for example, both display support hdr10, but the Samsung display has a higher resolution and has the latest gorilla glass Vitus, with higher refresh rate of 120 hertz. Of course, both have different chipsets.

The Huawei has the Karin 990 versus the Enos 990. Both are outscore CPUs clocked at similar speeds, so 2.86 versus 2.7 gigahertz. But how do they both compare in real-time performance? Well, here are some an tutu benchmark results, the note 20 ultra achieved 537k and the p4e pro plus achieved 487k. So, on my top performing smartphone chart, you will see that the Samsung has taken position.13 and the p40 pro plus has ranked position.20 and all phones on this chart are ranked by benchmark performance. Now, let's check out the ram and storage note, 20 ultra has faster ddr5 ram and the internal storage speed is UFS 3.1 versus 3.0 on the Huawei, and here are the results of the internal speed tests, so we're getting faster, read speeds from Huawei and faster write speeds from Samsung, but you're still getting respectful speeds from both devices. So, coming to the cameras and the main topic of this video, both have a quad camera setup, you have massive main sensors, 52 megapixels versus 108 megapixels.

You've got 4k at 60fps, video recording with image stabilization and the Samsung can do 8k at 24 frames per second. So, first, let's check out the photos. Now the first photos have been taken with the primary lenses so p40 pro plus on the left and the note 20 ultra on the right. But here's the thing both have shot in similar resolutions of around 12 megapixels. So what happened to the 52 megapixel and 108 megapixels? Well, if you want to shoot in those high resolutions, you actually have to switch to pro mode and select the higher resolution option.

If you just open the camera and snap a photo in standard photo mode, it will only be around 12 megapixels. Now. This is not obvious to the less tech-savvy, so I thought I'd point it out. So both devices produce great detailed outdoor shots, but I think the note 20 produces slightly more natural colors. It's a very close call, but let me know what you guys think, so now we're comparing the night modes, the next few shots were taken in a completely dark room and the only light we have is coming from the laptop display.

So in this first shot the p40 pro has produced a better result. The keyboard and laptop display look a lot clearer, whereas the note 20 is a blurred mess and in this less complex shot. Things turn right around and the note 20 ultra is more color accurate, with less blurry text and in this shot again the note 20 ultra seems to be more accurate and detailed, but the p40 pro plus has a slightly brighter image, and here is the final low light shot a dusty area on my desk. So from what you guys have just seen. Let me know which one you think is the best for night mode.

So now switching to the wide angle, lenses- and this certainly tells a different story. The p40 pro plus has a wider wide angle lens than the note 20 ultra. But if you look at the grass and the sky, we have more natural colors in the p40 and a higher contrast finish in the note 20, and I'm not disliking either they both produce pretty good results. But the note 20 ultra looks slightly more detailed, with an overall, better focus on the entire image, whereas the p4e will have some parts slightly out of focus. So now we're looking at the zoomed in results, so the first shot is five times zoom.

If we look at the building, it's actually more detailed and clear in the note 20 ultra, as are the surrounding trees and the fence, and even the grass second shot ten times digital zoom on another building. This shot looks equally good on both. So apart from the slightly higher contrast on the note 20, we have an equally good 10 times, digital zoom, on both so maximum zoom on note, 20 ultra is 50 times and the p4e is actually a hundred times, but just to keep things. Equal here is 50 times digital zoom on both devices and which one do you think looks better. Now, I'm leaning towards the note 20.

It looks slightly more detailed. Let me know what you guys think, which camera achieved the better 50 times zoom and in case you're wondering what that photo should look like here is a close range shot. So, let's begin the video comparisons so camera comparison time. We have the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra versus the Huawei p40 pro plus. Both are super mammoth smartphones and both have amazing cameras.

So we are shooting the maximum resolution possible from the front-facing cameras, which is 4k at 60 frames per second, and the video quality looks absolutely amazing. I kind of got the park to myself. It's just me. I love doing camera comparisons, especially early in the morning. It's six in the morning to be exact 4k at 60 frames per second.

This is an audio test as well. I will be interchanging between the audio, which one sounds better. We are shooting 4k at 60 frames per. Second, it's like six o'clock in the morning, so there's no one around I've got the park to myself 4k at 60 frames per second beautiful day today, semi clear skies, at least you can see the sky is blue, and I just love the fresh air early morning, fresh air in the park, there's nothing like it. So yeah, I'm shooting 4k at 60 frames per second, on both cameras.

We have image stabilization on the viewfinder, both cameras look super smooth and the video quality looks amazing, but we're only going to know in post-production what the quality actually looks like. So, let's get as much footage as we can, so we are doing 4k 60. The note 20 ultra can actually do 8k videos, so we are going to be testing that out soon, but right now, 4k 60 is the maximum supported on the Huawei p40 pro plus. So this is what you can expect. So this is 8k video recording on the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra and on the Huawei p40 pro plus, we are shooting 4k at 60 frames per second, so both smartphones are at the maximum resolutions possible.

Now the note 20 ultra apparently has image stabilization, while shooting 8k that doesn't seem to be the case on the viewfinder. The viewfinder does look quite shaky, so I look forward to seeing how that video turns out so 8k versus 4k people. Let's do a standing pan shot see how that comes out. Dynamic range dropping the resolution down to 4k at 30 frames per second on both cameras both are set to the main sensors, and I will test wide-angle lens after this. So switching to the wide-angle lens on both cameras, we are shooting 4k at 30 frames per second now.

Looking at the viewfinders, the note 20 ultra is producing more natural colors and contrast you can see. The sky is clearer on the note 20 that's on the viewfinder, but we will see later on which one in fact looks better, so switching to digital zoom, five times on both cameras so five times, digital zoom, on both cameras focusing on the duck five time, digital zoom, so which one looks better. So now we're going to test out the digital zoom. So let's zoom in a maximum of 20 times is possible on the note 20, but the Huawei allows you to zoom in a maximum of 30 times. So let me know which video quality looks better.

I am trying to focus on that bin. So now I've switched to the resolution, which is more practical for most of us out there 1080p at 60 frames per second on both cameras, primary lens, and this is what you can expect in terms of image quality. So this is a real test, so we have two phones. Similarly, priced the Huawei p40 pro plus and the note 20 ultra smartphones have similar features and are known best for their amazing camera setup. So I decided the first video I should do on these phones is a camera comparison to see which one is actually better.

So that concludes my camera comparison. Video. I tried to present this a bit differently than the others, and I do hope you found it useful. Now. You've seen the results you're getting great quality, 4k video at 60fps, with image stabilization super smooth on both devices.

The audio, however, sounded slightly better to me on the p40 pro plus, yes, you're, getting 8k at 24 fps on the note, but it was not very stable, so I'd probably stick with 4k photos were equally good on both only slight differences. Low light seemed slightly better on the note 20 ultra and the ultra's wide angle lens appeared to take more detailed shots. You can also take some decent portrait. Shots with superb edge detection on both smartphones, but Samsung's live focus is also available in video mode. Now, if I to pick one phone as a winner based on just the camera comparison and ignoring the specs and features, then the note 20 ultra would be my choice.

But then, if I had to consider the specs performance and features my pick would still be the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra now do let me know in the comments which smartphone you think has the best overall camera and also which one would you pick based on the best overall specs and performance, and with that being said, thank you so much for watching, and I hope you all have an amazing day. I'll see you guys in the next one. You.
