Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Top 5 COMPLAINTS and TAKEAWAYS

Before I get started. I do just want to say that there's a ton of Samsung content coming out like right now and definitely this week, and I'm just happy that you came to watch my video so with that said, let's go ahead and jump right into this. My top five complaints and takeaways with the next phone in Samsung's line to sport, the name ultra. This is Joshua verger. What's going on everybody, these are my top five complaints and takeaways on the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra 5g, all right, there's no getting around it that this phone is big. It's supposed to be I'll admit that, after using this phone for quite some time, as my main, I've definitely gotten used to handling it on the regular.

But there are some users out there that prefer easier quality of life out of their daily devices, and this just might not fit that bill. Even when you're just trying to maneuver around the phone with one hand, the precarious positioning is always in mind, and even if you want to have the biggest and best well everything some people just might find the handling to be a nuisance somewhere down the line. But we will take the beauty with the beast, because you know what I have to applaud Samsung for really getting their design right with this new note. Yes, the phone is large and in charge, but it also strikes me as the least amount of wasted space. I've ever seen in a flagship think back to the galaxy s20 ultra with its big camera hump that just had to say 100 times zoom on it for some reason and that whole bulky exterior.

Now we have the note 20 ultra covered in the latest gorilla glass with curves on both sides. It has a flat top a flat bottom and the camera hump. That might be huge, but has some subtle yet significant design cues of its own and as a note, it obviously still has the s pen, and it's able to fit it in without adding too much more to the body. It's just that it had to change sides, possibly because there's a lot going on where the camera hump now resides, and all of this is adorned in Samsung's new favorite color, the mystic bronze matted enough to keep fingerprints from ruining the great look. I actually came to really like this sheen on the note 20 ultra, but I opted to add a bit more grip with the brand skin that made the mystic bronze a great accent.

Color now check out some skins for your note, 20, ultra or plenty of other devices using the link below. If anything, let me know what skin you think might go really well with the mystic bronze and then, of course, this super AMOLED screen is Samsung at its finest as per usual. The display is a sight to behold, and I find myself actually appreciating the large real estate when playing games. In particular, the only weird part about the screen is that it's a bit temperamental, despite how amazing the viewing experience might be Samsung decided to put the two key features of the display behind their own singular settings. This is a quad HD capable screen, but it's its own option, while 120hz refresh rate keeps the display at 1080p.

Now this wouldn't be so odd if we didn't already have quad HD high refresh rate screens in the market, but in the note 20 ultra it's an interesting exercise of picking one or the other. I actually asked this very question on my twitter via a poll, and it looks like most of you would be just fine with 1080p if it meant getting 120 hertz, I'm inclined to agree, but then there's another layer to this, and it's that the high refresh rate is adaptive, meaning that it isn't on all the time. I can kind of understand this, because most things aren't actually high frame rates like typical video content like this very video and most games, so the display adjusts accordingly and maybe that'll help battery life. It's just a bit of a head scratcher that if we can't get smooth movements, we're still leaving quad HD on the table, I don't know maybe dynamic. Everything will be possible one day, but for now it's a matter of choice now, even I'll admit that it's hard to nitpick on stuff, when Samsung has simply made the note 20 ultra one of the most stacked devices they've ever made, it has the snapdragon 865 plus after all, and for those of you in areas with the Enos variants.

I wish I knew what to tell you. You know what, though, that is a truly legitimate complaint. So if you do happen to be in those markets, you can sound off in the comments.12 gigabytes of ram makes sense for all the stuff that you might do with this phone. Sometimes all at once and expandable, 128 gigabytes of storage means that all the photos and videos you might shoot, have a place to go. Now.

I literally had no issues with any apps tasks or games that I have thrown at this phone. I routinely move among different apps pop the s pen out. Smart select something and then send it over to someone in a messaging app. I've been able to put any mobile game at highest settings and enjoy it with either the big screen or with a controller and with a good internet connection. The great display is a wonderful way of getting cloud gaming done, for example, Samsung is doing well to tie out Xbox game pass, and I'm already enjoying the hell out of it.

I mean where has forza horizon been all my life. There are a couple of holes in terms of general performance, namely the smaller than before battery size that likely had to shrink down to make room for both the s pen and the upgraded camera module battery life has still been totally fine. For me, though, with the phone still getting me comfortably to bedtime on power user days that also included heavy camera use setting this phone on a wireless charger overnight gets me back into the fray and about the only bummer here is the fact that superfast charging means 25 watts at this time, when we know Samsung is capable of much more than that. So, for literally all the things that the note 20 ultra can do you're paying an awful lot of money and galaxy syndrome is something that I've talked about for years since, like the galaxy s5, it's the idea that you pay for so much. But are you actually going to use everything because there's bound to be something here that you're not going to use as much as you might think at first, the s pen is incredible as a multi-tool, but how much of all of that will you actually use? Will the air actions actually be something you do more than press the button and hit the same mode anyway? I will admit that the air actions are fun I'll, give you that connecting decks from a phone to a laptop and opening up an emulated.

Shell makes a little of sense, but it's really only useful for apps that you can't already access using a computer or a browser so being able to wirelessly cast decks to a TV. It's cool, it's nifty and definitely looks better than just casting the regular android screen, but I don't think it makes it a killer. App, especially since you can now virtualize, basically any app using the windows, your phone companion layer again, it's just multiple ways of getting the same job done. So those are the two parts of a productivity powerhouse. That is a Galaxy Note, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

There are plenty of features in one UI that go beyond the typical android experience, so let's just evaluate the s pen and DEX at maybe 200 each. If you are going to pay the big premium for this phone and yet you never touch either of those features. Then how valuable is this phone to you really, but on the topic of extras, I do have to give credit where credit is due. Samsung has done a great job over the years of making the s pen valuable in one way or another. Basically, anyone can find a reason to love having this unique and iconic stylus around, whether it be the artist or the social media junkie.

That wants an easy way of getting that selfie from far away. Now I'm the latter, which speaks to how Samsung figured out ways of making this useful for way more than they probably initially intended, and you only get it on a Galaxy Note, oh, and by the way, I know that there are other remote shutter buttons out there, but none were as reliable as the s pen, because it literally is made for the Galaxy Note that it calls home- and I took this s pen and the many cameras of the Galaxy Note 20 ultra out for a photo shoot in a real world. Camera test, make sure to check it out using the links above and below after you're done with this video overall you're looking at ultra quality, and by that I mean it's similar to the galaxy s20 ultra, which is a good thing. What matters here, however, is that that quality now gets the note treatment. I will always sing the praises of what a remote shutter s pen brings to the table, because it's only with note devices, since the note 9 that I have felt this empowered to just try getting new photos and videos at multiple zoom levels or try different framing, because this is literally the only phone that can do it in that fashion.

And now that note photo taking experience, has high quality zoom it's 50 times max this time, but I find anywhere below 10 times is still high quality and plenty usable. So the camera quality is about what you would expect from Samsung high in saturation and liberal, in its use of HDR pictures, often look great immediately, especially from the powerful megapixel main shooter. Personally, I love a vivid 12 megapixel ultra-wide shot, but then you have the far zoom levels which mean you can play with perspective and get some refocused foreground and backgrounds, or you can just compress the frame and make your subject the focal point night mode is effective, especially when using the main sensor videos can be 4k, no matter what lens you use, and now there's a pro video mode that you can dedicate the 8k capture to that pro video mode also marks a first for Samsung Bluetooth, audio capture from connected earbuds and good news. It has actually worked with other earbuds, not just the Galaxy Buds live now. There are a couple of things to keep in mind, uh, mainly that this is what the audio sounds like from the gear buds live.

As I was listening to other clips using the phone, it sounded like any other Bluetooth headset, but it's nice that the audio is more localized. So the fact that I'm literally, like maybe six feet away from the phone right now means that I can still get good sounding audio for how far I am from the phone, and the other thing to keep in mind too, is that the pro video mode uses the 108 megapixel main sensor. So no wide angle in this case, which is a bit of a bummer for me, and you have to make sure that you are framing up properly when you're, using just the main sensor at either 4k or 8k, which crops in even a little more. But for now. If this is all pro video mode features, then I kind of get it like.

These are things that you are actually thinking of. If you are going to look at the note, 20 ultra as a creative tool and honestly taking all of those things together, I think it's a win so far, because this makes it even more of a unique device. So in that case yay, I just wish that even half of everything I just praised the rear cameras for doing would come to the front-facing camera case. In point. Here's the front-facing camera 4k video recording on the front, which is always really appreciated, and I have the gear buds live in, but the audio is not coming from them.

It would be really nice if we can get something like that as a feature in the front-facing camera, because vlogging shots like this making it very easy for me to set up my shot, get in front of it, see myself, but still get even better audio. That's more localized. If I move a little or if I get farther away from the phone, those are things that would be really great for front facing camera features. Even Bluetooth, audio capture for the 4k, selfie, video or 1080p live focus. Video would be really cool.

You see this 10 megapixel front facing camera is also just tuned differently. I took the same picture on both the front and the rear and found that the color rendering is quite different. I get it that beauty modes and softer rendering for selfies is sometimes a priority, but I think that the level of disparity has to be addressed. Eventually, let's give the front facing camera more love from here on out before our rear camera humps grow to critical mass, all right we're getting ready to go home here, but this one goes out to anyone that is trying to decide between the note 20 ultra and the regular note 20. It's funny how these days were doing away with the main line, because there's suddenly more power to be had.

So. With that in mind, the note 20 ultra is carving itself a very big chunk of land, with its ultra camera, hump and sometimes high refresh rate screen. How much of that actually gets shaved off in order to create the regular note 20. , while you lose the 108 megapixel main shooter in lieu of a 64 megapixel zoom lens, the display is flat which might be nice for handling. But then the footprint is not that much smaller at all.

So there's no smaller variant for those who prioritize easy handling. You lose the SD card slot and the battery is even a bit smaller, and yet it's still 999 dollars. It's interesting to see how Samsung finds which parts to cut, but, as many of you have already said, on parts of the internet, the note 20 at 1 000 for those specs has some stiff competition that asks less of your wallet. It's like what I pondered before. How do you evaluate parts of a note that make it a super premium phone, because the note 20 ultra does make one thing clear: we have reached a point where specs that power- our phones are so good that a good experience can be had at multiple price points.

This one just happens to be the highest performance car in a lot full of choices. If this is what we can aspire to at this price, imagine what this flagship level will look like in the years to come now. It might be easy to feel this way each time a new flagship phone comes out, but I do firmly believe that if you are able to get a Galaxy Note, 20 ultra, you might not feel the need to upgrade for quite some time which begs the question: what will these phone companies do to take things to the next level, because this phone isn't for everyone, but Samsung certainly continues to try to make a phone that does everything.
