Compared: iPad Pro (2020) VS Samsung Galaxy Tab S6!

Welcome everyone, it is Andrew here from Apple Insider, the most recent 20/20 iPad pros, have launched it not too long ago and into a crowded market. They go now, while the iPad has been dominant, retaining that pretty much top spot in the tablet industry. It is not without its competitors. Amazon has its fire tablets, which are completely different market than the iPad is going for. Then we have the Samsung s6 and the s6 is its kind of in the middle. It's very much a consumption device and has that whole vertical to go down, but then it also has a Productivity side.

It has the book cover that has a keyboard and everything in there. You can use it with the decks' system to turn it more into a desktop experience. It has a lot going for it and with its integrated, a stylus that it has there, it is very much an iPad Pro competitor now, while the iPad prices can get sky-high. If you're. Looking at the twelve point, nine inch model with a maxed out storage, there is starting out.

Prices are fairly consistent between the two ecosystems, so the Samsung Galaxy Tab s6 is gonna, run you 6:49 for the entry-level unit, whereas on the iPad side, you're looking at $7.99 so with 649 to $7.99, there is a definite price difference in the two, but as we get into it, and you'll see there different pros and cons between the two platforms depending on what it is that you want to do so, let's go ahead and spin things up and just dive right into it, starting off with some basic specs between the two devices here, so the Galaxy S6 define has a different aspect ratio. Then the iPad pros do the iPad Pro is a little more boxy and to me I, prefer the boxy your experience of the iPads. If you're looking for media consumption, it does get a little annoying on the iPads because you have such black bars around the outside. But when you're looking at the s6, it gets a little annoying for productivity because you lose some of that real estate. As far as the displays themselves go, they both look perfect.

The Galaxy S6 wins out with a slightly higher or the Galaxy Tab s, six. That gets a little higher pixel density 287 versus apples 264. But at that point, there's not much of a difference. Apple still obviously qualifies it as a Retina display, because you cannot discern those individual pixels when you're using an ax normal distance from your eye and honestly I, don't notice the increased pixel density over on the tab, s6 versus the iPad that that's really not my biggest concern a debating between these two tablets before we get into the other concerns. I just want to take a moment to thank our sponsor for this video paper, like paper, like is a matte screen protector for your iPad and iPad Pro it easily goes on and gives you a much more enjoyable experience, reducing the drag and screen glare that you get from this team, normal iPad display everything you need is included inside the package, and it is very easy to install.

It takes just a few moments to go through the process and boom. You are ready to go, and it has a bunch of applications. Not is it good for the Apple Pencil, but it's beneficial for reading or staring your screen or gaming. You can just move your finger around and display is easier because it reduces the drag that that glossy glass would tend to give you so whether you have a brand-new iPad Pro or you have an older I've had lying around paper-like is the best accessory to elevate that experience grab one at the link down below in the description. Looking at the camera is the Galaxy Tab s6 is sporting to read them two cameras on the back of the tab.

Essex one is a 13 megapixel wide-angle lens. The other is a 5 megapixel, ultra wide-angle lens Apple kind of splits. The difference they're also going with an ultra-wide and wide angle lens that dual camera setup, but they're sticking with the megapixels kind of more in the middle. So it's a 12 megapixel wide-angle lens and a 10 megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, so not as high resolution on the wine, but higher resolution on the ultra-wide Apple does win out, though, with its inclusion of to elide our scanner. Now the lot of our scanners can use for depth information.

If you don't know what that means, and you're not using it. This doesn't really mean much to, but the LIDAR scanner is very cool. There's a lot of functionality coming down the line, but it really helps with augmented reality experiences, whether using apples, measure app or other third-party applications that are relied on that LIDAR information. You can also be used for portrait mode enhancements and other things down. The line of that will continue to work with a LIDAR sensor kind of see what it can do, but it's really going to be a game changer for anyone who's using those mixed reality, applications on the Front's of the device, the tab s6 here has an 8 megapixel sensor, whereas the iPad Pro only has a 7 megapixel sensor.

But Apple is the true depth camera system, which means it takes phenomenal portrait mode shots on there, and it allows you to unlock your iPad Pro using your face. Now there is biometric security. Here you can use the optical fingerprint scanner in the display you can use face recognition to get in, but it doesn't have the same security as we do with face ID. So, even though it does have facial recognition getting with this, that security is nowhere near what it is on the iPad. The iPad is using that 3d face game with the true depth camera system, where this is just comparing a picture.

So don't really rely on this you're. Looking for the utmost security in your biometrics, when it comes to storage, the iPad Pro starts off at a hundred twenty-eight kids going up to 256 512 and one terabyte of built-in storage, whereas the Galaxy Tab s, six is all I started off 128 and then going to 256, but it is expandable via micros all the way up to a terabyte. It's really going to add more storage space there after you purchased. You can only do it with a tap. It is probably cheaper to buy that micros done.

You have to manager, store it and kind of go between I. Don't like dealing with that, but that's the thing that you kind of get between the two ecosystems Apple has always featured purely built-in storage for better or for worse and galaxies, and tabs and Android have always kind of allowed you to expand with micros cards. So it just kind of your preference here and now that I've had OS and the iPads have external storage support over USB, see I think this is even less of a bigger issue than it was before, because you didn't offload so much on to those external drives and do work from there. So it's a really cool thing that they've been doing with storage. Recently, that's really making the internal storage not as important as it was before, and not to mention cloud feature between Google Drive or Samsung's cloud tabs here in Apple's iCloud suite before on the iPad.

Both these guys have great Wi-Fi. The iPad wins out with its 802 11 aces Wi-Fi six support, whereas the Galaxy Tab s6 is sticking with 802 11 ac for the time being, but the tab does win out when it comes to speakers. It still has four speakers, just like the iPad Pro, but they are AKG tuned support. Dolby Atmos, now you're really not going to get true Dolby Atmos support coming out of your speaker here, I'll play that content back and in my testing it sounds pretty good. I mean these aren't bad speakers by any means, but I don't get the same.

Dolby Atmos effect as I am, if I'm getting in my living room, something you know bigger an actual immersive surround sound system or even a sound mother. The Sonos arc that can support Dolby Atmos much further than you can with just the four speakers coming out of your tablet. Another big difference here, which again it's a kind of better word for worst tape situation, so Samsung does include a stylus with this device. It just included in the box. You get the s-pen or whatever they're calling their pen here it charges on the back connects here.

It's really cool little feature that they bake into the product. They get it out of way because with the iPad, if you want to buy the Apple Pencil, it cost a lot. More but here's the thing the Apple Pencil feels a million times better. The pencil here is flat and just hopefully uncomfortable to use I kind of hate. If I did a lot of knows, writing stuff.

After preparing for this comparison, and it just drove me crazy how cheap is fellow and how just annoying it was to hold in your hand, it was not comfortable by any means. Now it really does suck that you have to pay. So much of me over $100 for the Apple Pencil too. It's just definitely a bummer, but the positive of that is. It was a much more premium device.

Furthermore, it feels solid. Furthermore, it feels incredible. Furthermore, it is so much nicer to use between the two and, if you don't need it, if you don't want it, you don't have to have it, you don't have to pay for it. So that is the trade-off here. Are you get one included, but it's crappy? The other side is, you have to buy one, but it's really nice, so it doesn't kind of inflate the price unnecessarily.

If you're not going to use the Apple Pencil or the galaxy s pen. So it is a good kind of trade-off between the two it just sucks. If you do want to use that- and you were okay with the build quality, but you want something a little nicer. You're just going to have to look at the aftermarket solutions for me personally, one of the biggest things to look out for when comparing these different tablets is going to be performance, so you're looking at iOS is iOS versus Android here, and it's pretty telling when you look at the performance of these two tablets, so the Galaxy Tab s, six, it is using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor is a very capable processor and in the Geek bench test, we're seeing results of around 713 on the single core and 2460 on the multi-core tests. If we look at the iPad, it's earning an 11 17 and a 4690 on the single on multi-core test.

That is a huge difference, nearly double there in the multi-core performance. That's thanks to the 12 Z Bionic processor, and it's kind of funny, because the How Bionic processor is just a rebuild a 12 X Bionic processor that has an additional court workload for the GPU. So it's really not that much difference between Apple's older chipset there, and yet it blows this thing away. So what does that mean? Well, if you were looking at media consumption, you're watching stuff browsing a lot, checking emails using it for light work, not that big of a deal. It really is not going to be that important in your day-to-day tasks, you're going to notice some things here and there, but it's not gonna, be like a night and day experience for you going between the two doing those everyday tasks.

But if you want to get serious work done, then you're going to run into issues loading up, massive images rocking just a ton of you know in depth of browser web apps and everything. If you are doing anything with video editing anything, that's gonna attacked the process or anything. That's processor hit heavy. It's going to make a huge difference going from the tab aesthetics to the iPad Pro's its just night and day. There is a huge difference in processing power.

Thanks to apple's, how Bionic processor they've created everything there. The hardware and the software runs together, and it really pays off in that user experience. So, if you're doing anything that is tacked in the processor anything other than watching Netflix and checking Facebook and everything else, then you really should lean towards the iPad for a lot of things, because the processing power is just completely unparalleled in this tablet. Space. Another bit of the productivity puzzle is going to be keyboards.

They have a few different options here between the different devices. So Samsung offers its book cover to go along with its device. It has an integrated trackpad here, a full keyboard. It opens up that decks mode. When you have the tablet, it's a pretty good.

Experience includes a back cover, and it's available for 199 bucks. If you want to add it on to your galaxy s, Galaxy Tab s 6. It feels, though very cheap. This thing is flimsy and plastic, and just the trackpad it's icky to press on it just feels so light I mean it's a plastic trackpad completely true plastic. Here, whereas over on the iPad side of things, you get a few options at varying price points.

You have the smart Keyboard folio, which is what we had before, but we had the smart Keyboard folio before completely wraps around its fabric. It's water-resistant spill resistant. It feels pretty nice to type on, but it's a little squishy, and we know some people, don't love them. So those are your first option to go with. It protects the whole I've had everything, but then you have the new magic keyboard, which is phenomenal in our testing.

You have a full glass trackpad on there, that's bigger than the one here. The keyboard feels so much more premium. It feels you're typing on a computer keyboard, it's just reliable in a rock solid, so the keyboard is better. The trackpad is better not to mention all the build quality I mean you have metal plates in there. It floats your iPad in the air connects via magnet.

It's just incredible how nice that thing is, so again you're kind of left in this weird space between the two here, it's a little more I believe then it'd be like 169 or 179 costs of the smart Keyboard folio. So this is above that in terms of price, and you get the trackpad in there, but this is cheaper than Apple smart or a magic keyboard, which is even more expensive, but it has more features and a lot better quality, so just depends on where you're at personally. This is a Productivity device for me, I'm doing the real work on here and that little of priced at between the smart keyboard or the magic keyboard and the book cover here for the Galaxy Tab is an easy trade off to make. So here's the deal when you get started this video I think you knew how this is gonna kind of play out and I think you knew really instinctively, which tablet was going to be better for you. A lot of these specs are similar, but it really depends on what you want to do with it in which ecosystem you live.

In if you're an iPhone user, there is very little reason you should consider the Gauss s-six just doesn't make sense, and if you want productivity and workhorse, then you have to go the iPad because again performance is there, but if you're already in an Android ecosystem, it's a much more fair play and there's a lot of benefits of going with the tab. S6, it's nice. They include some accessories in the box, but when you were an iPhone user or a Mac user, you can't ignore things like iCloud, an airdrop and hand off and other features that make I oh s and iPadOS and macOS what they are. If you want to grab any of these guys, you find the best deals at the links down below in the description and I won't hear your thoughts over on Twitter and Andrew. Underscore OSU, hey everyone.
