BlackBerry KEYOne Hands On

Nicole's got here for mobile geeks in here impatient. Look at the BlackBerry team, one. It finally has a name. We do get to go hands-on at CES, but now we have it officially: it's not the mercury. It is the key one. So I, you know, being Canadian I have a real soft spot for blackberry, but the first thing you're going to notice is that, if you're into smartphones, this will kind of remind you of like a bird ? and you have it in your hand.

It definitely has that, like really high-end, durable, virtue, light quality, the aluminum chassis around the end here, the fact that it has this new design, so the top is, is flat, and then we have this kind of like you design here around the bottom. Now one of the other interesting things about the design that I really like. So obviously we have the critic keyboard and there is a large segment of the population that does want the keyboard. If you looked at what Samsung did with some of their case accessories, we did see them launch with a Kurt keyboard, so I mean this is not coming out of left field. But the thing that I like about this keyboard is hey they're, calling these the frets are just like a guitar like boom boom and yeah.

This is beautiful. These are actually embedded like right into the chassis and then down here on the bottom. We also have a fingerprint sensor, that's built into the space bar. You can see if there, where it catches the light. That's actually a fingerprint sensor.

We have a 4.5 inch display, Android, 7.1 and, what's really nice is that black bear is committed to doing a monthly patch updates with Google security. I wonder if things that I, like you, can kind of use the split screen here, so we can choose to do let's say Gmail, and then we can pick another one like let's say YouTube, so we can, you know, take very take advantage of Android 7.1 in its split screen feature that even though it is 4.5 inches, we kind of are able to use a lot of screen real estate um. Where else you have going on. So we have a SIM card slot, with a micro SD down on the side of the power button volume rocker that USB type-c. Now this is a three thousand I think it's 500 million per battery, but a difficult charge, 3.0 that USB type-c and one of the interesting things about it is. It comes with a boost feature.

So, if you're into kind of like charged like last-minute charging your smartphone like most people, so you only have 15 minutes, it will actually turn off all the apps. Turning into the background, so it's kind of like putting your phone into airplane mode with like extra things that are happening so that you're really getting as much charge as possible in that short period of time. So, if you're just kind of running and changing and running back out, that's definitely a feature that I'd need in my life quite often, so this is a 12 megapixel camera. Now this was the same Sony sensor that we have in the Google Pixel. So this is capable of really nice photos with a dual tone: flash on the front.

We have a think it was an 8 megapixel, camera as well. Now that has the larger pixels. So it's good in low light, so there I am, and you can see that I'm completely backlit as soon as my face and now, if we turn this around, let's just do a quick test very loud, but this is capable of taking well. Let's see we have I will have to wait for the review unit. Now, when is that unit going to be coming? Oh, we should be giving ample and feel like a month, because this should be available really cute ?, so we're thinking, April 4 for shipping.

Now it's running at $550, which is I, think what did the deal for doing that this durable this productivity focus now is only running a Snapdragon, a six 20s right, 625 processors, with 3 did bytes of RAM. Now one of the big conversations that we've been seeing throughout this show is the fact that everyone's kind of turning away from having the latest and greatest process or a bit- you know just a bit finicky to produce something kind of new and honestly 25 is quite good, where we've kind of really taken advantage of the fact that it has a lot of really strong power. Saving features. I really do love the frets on this keyboard. So we should be seeing a review in the'd say two months.

Maybe they have very excited about the BlackBerry key one. Let me know if you have any questions comments or anything that you want to see, because I will definitely be playing more with this device during the shelf and cold spell here, formal movie.
