What's up guys, Matthew Mona's here and welcome to my hands-on with the BlackBerry key -. This is a successor to last year's key one. Now, if you see both these devices beside each other, there's not much difference in terms of looks it's not until you actually pick both phones up and notice, the refinements made ? the key to it is a little slightly taller than the original one, but it is thinner making it more comfortable to hold the other big difference. Is the keyboard. I think this is the most important one. I personally found the key ones keyboard to feel slightly cheap.
The key to improves this significantly I, don't think it feels cheap anymore. There's a nice tactile feedback to it, which makes typing on it a lot more enjoyable. The other big difference is the quick access key. This is a feature that was not available on the key one, but is now on the key -. It's a specific key to allow you to move around to your shortcuts, significantly faster on the original key one.
The way it worked was you had to go into your software bind one of your keys and then long press on that key to go to that shortcut. Now you simply just press on the quick access key press on the key. You want that application to be bound ? and you're done. This is great for productivity warriors for people who need to jump in and out of applications very quickly, a lot easier to do than tapping on the recent apps' menu then scrolling through them, like you, would on a typical Android device. But if you don't need all those shortcuts- and you just need one with a button- the BlackBerry key ? still comes with a convenience key that allows you to bind it to any application.
You want. Another big change. Is the camera setup you see on the original version. There was one camera sensor with actually using the same camera sensor as the pixel ?, and it took pretty good photos this here, you're getting two of them they're, both 12 megapixels, but the second one acts as a telephoto lens, very similar to the iPhone 10, and allows you to zoom in up to two times. In fact, I actually did do some camera samples against the iPhone 10 and the big takeaway is this.
The iPhone 10 tends to lean towards a warmer tone, whereas the BlackBerry key ? looks slightly more balanced, but sometimes you notice, a slight reddish hue. I also took another picture with portrait mode and I. Think both cameras did a fantastic job, but I actually prefer the portrait mode on the key -. The subject looks a lot sharper and the colors are slightly Viva. Now, in terms of the display, are pretty much going to get the exact same display as the key one.
It's going to be 4.5 inches, it's going to be 1080p, and I had both devices in my hand and, to be quite honest, they looked very identical. So not the brightest display, not the sharpest display but good enough for most people, sound is gonna, be pretty much. Similar experience still has a model speaker. Maybe it gets slightly louder, but I do kind of wish black brain put dual speakers on this device. Now, before I jump into performance.
Just a quick talk about software. It is using the latest version of Android audio 8.1, and you still have the BlackBerry hub. So if that's something very important to you, you're still going to see that in this device, performance is gonna, be somewhere between a mid-range phone and a high-end flagship. So you are getting that mid-range processor, which is the snapdragon 660, which is very similar to the Snapdragon 820 that came out a couple of years ago. Now this is not a big deal, let's be honest.
Whoever is buying this phone is not gonna, be playing. The latest version of Pusey or fortnight they're going to be using this device to get done. They're going to be bouncing back and forth between different applications. They're going to be doing productivity, they're going to be sending out emails, going to be working in Excel sheets which, by the way the phone comes with 4 or 6 gigabytes of RAM, and they're going to be doing conference calls. So, if you're looking for a gaming device, the key to is definitely not gonna, be for you, so that pretty much wraps up my hands-on with the BlackBerry key -.
So far, I also forgot to mention. There's a 33 60 William battery inside, which is gonna. Give you about two days of use before needing to charge. You pair that 660 processor, with a 4.5 inch, 1080p display, and you'll have no issues getting through the entire day plus more now.
