Best Budget Phone in 2020? - TCL 10L Review

What's happening everyone, my name is Alex and welcome. Back in this video, we are checking out one of the latest budget-friendly devices from TCL, so don't I have today it's called the TCL 10 L, and this is a phone that you can find for about 250 US dollars for about 350 Canadian dollars and for the price. This one is impressive in many ways, so we say this device, we have the snapdragon 616 5 and yes, this may not be the most powerful CPU order, but when you pair that with 6 CDs of ram, you get on a total score of over 175,000, and this is basically a scholar to use to get from flagships about two three years ago. Maybe three years ago, I would say so for the average consumer, no matter what you do on this device. If you are just on Facebook scrolling up and down, if you're just liking, pictures on Instagram or playing games, this one will perform without any lag whatsoever. Now, comparing this to the phone that would have the snapdragon 865, for example, so the most powerful processor out there, you will notice a difference when you're playing some graphic intensive games or if you are video editing on this device.

So let's say you have a bunch of 4k files on this, and you're editing on it. Well, you will feel some lag then, but for the average consumer you will not experience any lag, no matter what you do this device. Another thing: that's pretty impressive about this phone is the battery life. So inside this we have of 4000 William hour battery, but I have to say that it takes quite a long time to charge it, so you're, looking at over an hour and half to charge it from 0 to 100, but on one charge you can typically get over 8 hours of screen on time and that's good for any phone at any price. On the back, we have a physical fingerprint scanner, so we haven't seen one of these in quite some time.

So all you have to do. It's touch the fingerprint scanner and the phone will unlock, and it takes about half a second from the moment. You touch that fingerprint scanner for the phone to unlock the phone also supports face unlocking, but keep in mind that the face unlocking isn't as secure as that physical fingerprint scanner and on the back, we also have more cameras than you would get on the latest iPhone 11pro. Of course, these cameras aren't gonna, be as impressive as the cameras on I phone, but you can still take some very impressive pictures of this device. Take a look at these pictures that I took with a macro lens on the back of it.

You cannot tell that these pictures come from a form, that's about two hundred and fifty dollars, so very, very impressive. What it can do that macro lens moving on to some portrait mode pictures once again, these look perfect. The edge detection is perfect. The subject is bright enough. The colors are very accurate, so the portrait mode pictures also look perfect from a phone.

That's only about $250 now, I. Wasn't that impressed by the pictures taken by the ultra-wide lens? If you look on the sides and on those pictures, you can see that the pictures are in that sharp, so I, don't exactly use this phone to take pictures to the ultraviolence I find that they just don't. Look that great and the mainland's can do much better than that ultra-wide lens. Now you will notice some differences compared to other more expensive devices when you're taking pictures in low lights. So there isn't a night model available on the phone, basically kind of switches for night mode by itself.

So the pictures do look decent, but they are kind of grainy if you start zooming in they're, not as sharp. So, yes you'll notice some differences for the pictures that you're going to take in low-light with it. Now the phone can also do 4k at 30 frames per second. So you can film in 4k at 30 frames per second, but the quality of the videos isn't that amazing either I mean if you'll have the phone on a tripod, and you don't move it left and right. You can probably do some decent of the recordings with it, but if you start moving it, the footage doesn't look that good the focus kind of pulses, so not the most amazing phone for video recordings and once again, if you're recording at night the videos don't look that amazing, but for $250 I, don't think you can go wrong on all the cameras on the back of this device.

The phone itself doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look anything spectacular. I mean the back. Is the same glossy bag that we see from pretty much every device these days and up on the front, we have a massive 6.5 3 inches on the screen. This is an LCD panel, the has a 1080p resolution, and yes, the screen does look great, but I wish to get a bit brighter if you are outside in direct sunlight. It is a bit difficult to see, but that was to be expected for a phone this chip.

So that is my only complaint about the screen. It should have been a tiny bit brighter, so you can see it better outdoors. We even have a 3.5 million at the top here, something that we don't usually see. So if you are not plugging some headphone something you can definitely do that. On the left-hand side we have a customizable button, so you cannot select that button to do whatever you want, only press it once twice or three times.

We personally have only set it up, so it opens the camera and I press it once the phone can also take an SD card. So if you're, some music or some pictures on an SD card, the phone can take that SD card in at the bottom. Here we have the speaker, the microphone and the USB scene, charging port. Unfortunately, whenever you're playing videos, music or whatever I'm only the speaker at the bottom works. So, even though we have a speaker at the top here, you're only getting sound on the bottom one, which is unfortunate because to make the experience better to have dual speakers now, the speaker at the bottom here sounds decent, but Alan said this is the best sounding speaker that I ever heard- and this is a quick example we can hear how the speaker sounds.

I also tried the GPS unit inside it. Then it takes the phone about two or three seconds to find your location and once your location is found, it doesn't seem to lose it so using apps like Google Maps, always works great, as for sensors, here pretty much all the sensors that you would find in a flagship. So no issues of that the front-facing camera. Isn't that impressive I mean if you do have plenty of light. The pictures turn out decent enough, but as soon as you don't have enough light, obviously the pictures become kind of grainy and I would say a bit unusable, but for about $250 I, don't think you can exactly go wrong with this one I mean we get them a phone that runs Android 10 and the software is pretty well optimized for it.

According to the manufacturer, this will get them updated to Android 11. We get a pretty good-looking screen and get great battery life, decent cameras and overall, a pretty good-looking phone. So you can't exactly go wrong with a phone like this, if you're, just looking for on a simple budget from an alien device plus you're, probably gonna, be able to find this phone for zero dollars on a contract on for a bunch of carriers, all right guys hopefully enjoyed this video. If you did like it, don't forget to press that like button, don't forget to subscribe, and I'll see you guys in the next one thanks for watching.
