Asus ROG Phone 5 Camera Review

Hi there guys I'm Nikhil from Grady tech, and this is the camera review of the ASUS ROG phone 5. Even though this phone is launched as a major gaming centric phone, it still comes with some pretty impressive cameras on there. It is a triple camera setup, with a 64 megapixel primary camera with Sony, mix 686 sensors, that's followed by a 13, megapixel, ultrawide angle, camera with 125 degree, field of view and a dedicated 5 megapixel camera for taking macro shots for selfies. You get a 24 megapixel camera with f 2.0 aperture. Now these are some sample shots taken with the primary read camera. As you have seen, all the pictures have good exposure control, colors, look slightly saturated in some photos depending upon the lighting conditions.

Even the dynamic range is pretty good. Color temperature is slightly to the cooler side, but I guess that depends on your personal preference. Now these are some pictures taken with the wide-angle camera, which are followed by the regular shots. Exposure control and dynamic range is also pretty good. Color reproduction isn't that accurate colors are slightly more saturated and have a bit of more contrast to them.

Now these are some macro shots in this aspect. Asus has really done a great job. Color reproduction is pretty good, but the colors are slightly on the duller side. Now these are some portrait shots edge. Detection is pretty good.

In most cases, color production is nice, but once again, all the images are slightly saturated, dynamic range and exposure control are pretty well managed. Now, even though this phone has a 64 megapixel camera by default, it compresses the image using pixel binning. So for some reason, if you want to take a bigger 64 megapixel picture, we also have a dedicated 64 MB mode. Most of the time, you won't notice any major difference between the regular picture and the 64 mp mode unless you zoom in now. These are some pictures taken in low lighting conditions.

Once again, ASUS has done a pretty good job. Color reproduction is also pretty good once again, colors are slightly saturated. Noise is very well managed, and the pictures also retain decent sharpeners. Now these are some pictures taken with the wide angle camera in low lighting conditions. Now these pictures are much softer.

Everything looks like a watercolor painting. Now this phone also has a dedicated night mode, and these are some sample shots. Overall images are sharper and brighter than your regular mode in indoor lighting conditions, night mode works way better than the regular mode. Now these are some sample. Selfies color reproduction is pretty accurate and the skin tones also look pretty good.

Even the dynamic range and exposure control are pretty good. Sometimes it could have done better, but overall, it's acceptable. Now these are some portrait selfies once again, edge detection is pretty good color reproduction is accurate and the skin tones also look pretty good. There's a slight skin softening going on, but that's manageable. Now these are some selfies taken in low lighting conditions.

Once again, they do look pretty good, but the colors look a bit dull. Overall, it's still usable now. This is a sample footage from the rear camera recorded at 1080p resolution. This phone offers electronic image stabilization, and it's pretty decent and could be better for the price. Exposure control and dynamic range is decent.

As for the colors, they are a bit dull. Now this is a sample footage recorded with a wide angle camera. Once again, we have electronic image stabilization, so the footage is pretty decent. Colors are nice, but the footage could have been sharper. We also have a dedicated ultra steady mode, and this is the sample footage.

Next, we can also record video in 4k resolution on this phone, and this is a sample footage downscale to 1080p resolution, even at 4k resolution. This phone offers electronic image stabilization, but the footage is not that stable exposure, control and dynamic range are decent, and the color reproduction is pretty good on this phone. We can also record video in 8k resolution downscale to 1080p. Once again, there is electronic image stabilization, but the footage is kinda shaky exposure control, dynamic range are decent, and the color reproduction is good, but the colors are slightly to the duller side. Now this is the sample footage recorded using the front facing camera.

Color reproduction is pretty accurate, dynamic range and exposure control are good, and the footage seems pretty stable so guys to conclude cameras on this phone are pretty decent. They are not the best in the price segment, but for a gaming centric phone. These cameras are definitely pretty good and definitely can get the job done so guys.
