Apple iPhone 12 Review

This is the iPhone 12, the cheaper iPhone this year, at least until the iPhone 12 mini comes out next month. This is also the iPhone you should buy if you're looking to get one this year, there are very few people out there that will feel better with the pro models, because this one has all the core bells and whistles you would need, let's start from the top. So, yes, we have an updated design this year and the recognizable notch is still on the front, and this is still very unmistakably an iPhone, but it has these flat sides and thinner bezels than the iPhone 11. It's smaller, and it's lighter- and I honestly prefer this to last year's iPhone, 11, of course, and not just because of size and feel I do have a couple of gripes with this design. First, yes, it's a glossy glass back again. So if you use this without the case, the way I like to fingerprints, but there's galore, and also this feels kind of hollow inside, depending on where you tap or even when you toggle the mute switch.

It makes this hollow noise, almost as if, like there's some room inside for a headphone jack or something it's a small complaint. It's just that I am used to feeling like these premium. Phones are densely packed with tech inside the iPhone.12 pro definitely has a more solid feel to it. The screen on the new iPhone 12 now has an OLED panel and that's a major difference. Last year, the cheap iPhone 11 mainly felt well cheap, because its LCD panel was obviously lacking in quality versus the OLED panels of the 11 pro series.

Now the iPhone 12 has the very same screen as the iPhone 12 Pro. The OLED screens now have sharper resolution. Better contrast, popping colors, you sacrifice nothing here. If you choose an iPhone 12 over the pro, it really is a bummer that apple couldn't include high refresh rate screens on these phones. Neither the iPhone 12 nor the 12 pro have 90 hertz or 120 hertz refreshes and my eyes have been spoiled by so many android phones.

Now having 120hz even the iPad. Pro 2020 has pro motion, which is basically a 120hz screen. Um. These don't have it and I can see it uh. It is what it is when it comes to the camera.

The iPhone 12 here only has two cameras, a main wide angle and an ultra-wide angle lens both have 12 megapixel sensors underneath, and they are among the best smartphone cameras out there. iPhone cameras have been predictably dependable for years now, and these do not disappoint fantastic dynamics. Thanks to smart, hdr3, great details, thanks to deep fusion and generally very lively and shareable pictures you're. Looking at some samples right now, the new features this year include night mode for all three cameras, the main one, the ultra white and the selfie shooter beforehand. Night mode was limited only to the main camera there's also the new Dolby HDR mode for video shooting, which is non-essential.

What's the benefits of Dolby HDR well, as far as we noticed slightly better details in the highlights, halos around light bulbs, for example, are less prominent and there's less noise in the mid-tones and shadows in order to record in Dolby HDR, you need to save your files in the high efficiency format, which is pretty common. Nowadays, but it's still not completely compatible with some android phones or apps, or maybe some smart TVs. So it may be just a tad harder to share your videos with some people. The iPhone 12 can only record at 30 fps when in Dolby HDR mode, regardless of what resolution you put it in the iPhone 12 Pro can do.60, fps and actually the camera is where you're going to find the most differences between the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro. Because you see the pro has the telephoto camera a LIDAR scanner and of course it can record Dolby HDR clips in up to 60 fps.

Now I have gone on record before to say that I do prefer my phone to have a telephoto camera instead of an ultra-wide angle camera. So why am I saying that you should get the iPhone 12? Well, because I kind of feel that for a 200 difference, this one is a far better deal than the iPhone 12 Pro it just does not have that much on offer to make you squeeze out the extra pennies and yeah that lighter sensor. It allows for better augmented reality. Apps sure great, but neither the developers nor the users know what to make of it yet and its future is kind of obscured. If you are really into iPhone photography, you should definitely wait a bit for the iPhone 12 Pro max, which has a slightly better main camera with its bigger sensor and a slightly better telephoto camera with 2.5 times zoom back to the 12, though, we've got a few more things to cover how's the performance. Well, the Apple A14 chip is a tiny monster in its own right built on a 5 nanometer process.

It's energy efficient and crazy, productive iOS, 14 flies as always, despite being stuck to 60hz animations. You've got plenty of top tier games and video editors in the app store to test it with none of them will make it flinch and, as history tells us, this iPhone will remain fast for years to come. Well, if we do exclude the iPhone 6 and its throttling scandal from back in the days at least apple learned its lesson back, then I think for audio. We have the familiar setup: a bottom driver and a supercharged earpiece for stereo sound. The iPhone 12 sounds full and spacious and detailed.

Although a bit over compressed at full volumes. They are not the best speakers on a smartphone. This batch still belongs to the Pixel 4 XL in my opinion, but they are definitely up there with the best of them. Lastly, let's talk about battery life. Now, every year apple says all-day battery and every year it kind of delivers on that promise.

The a4 chip is more energy efficient, yes, but the battery in the iPhone 12 is smaller than the one in the iPhone 11. , so apple given. I will take it away. The end results. Are we get the same predictable battery life on this phone? If you're a heavy user? You can trust that the iPhone 12 will last you up until the evening when you can charge it up and thanks to fast charging.

Now you can get some percentages back in just a few minutes really easy. You don't get a charger in the box, but the iPhone 12 now does support up to 20 watts of fast charging. So you can get around 40 percent of battery back in about half an hour of charging. Even the new mac safe wireless charger can provide 15 watts of charging, which gets you about 30 percent of battery for half an hour. If you're a light user know, this iOS is outstanding at holding battery charge while the phone is in standby.

So if you let that screen up not so often, you can definitely make it to a day and a half of usage, no problem, and that about does it. Do I believe that the iPhone 12 is worth 800? I definitely do it has all the chops to take on the android competitors in that 700 to 800 dollar space, the galaxy s20 Fe, the OnePlus 8t, the Google Pixel 5. It's definitely a bummer. The iPhone 12 only has 60hz screen, but at least it opens the gates for you to get an Apple Watch Apple TV plus get into that MacBook and HomePod ecosystem if you're lusting after it. If you want more phone from your iPhone, don't get the 12 pro just yet wait until the 12 pro max comes out.

So everyone can review it and make your decision. Then, thanks for checking our video out subscribe to this channel for more sweet, smartphone videos drop a like, and I'll see you next time. You.
