5G vs LTE [Battery Life & Performance] iPhone 12 Pro // KGV

Hello internet, how are you people just pulled up to AWA's going to get a sandwich, but today I thought of something. Since I got my iPhone 12 Pro I haven't turned on 5g: let's do a test vlog today we're leaving 5g on automatic mode. Let's see how it turns out, since I got my iPhone 12 Pro one of the first things I did when I took the phone out of the box was go to settings to cellular, and I turned 5g completely off. I put it on LTE mode now. The reason I did this was because ever since 5g came out, every phone maker has been saying that the 5g modem, the 5g chip, whatever it's called the 5g drains more power than LTE, would because it's brand new, and they still got to optimize it, or they still got to make the batteries bigger to compensate for the chip draining more power from the battery. So I just turned it off, but then I realized something today.

I never really gave 5g a chance, so I went back at the settings today and I changed the settings to 5g auto, which is what the phone came without of the box. I believe now there is a mode called 5g on or always on, but I don't think I need that. Furthermore, I'm going to go with what apple recommended, because usually what apple recommends with their phones is probably the best option. So, besides auto brightness we're giving 5g a shot today, so I'm going to be filming this whole vlog from start to finish, with the iPhone 12 Pro, and we're going to leave 5g on I'm going to try to see if I get some 5g footage, some 5g area, some 5g speeds, and even if I can't just use the phone with the 5g toggle on, let's see if I see any battery decrease. If I see any differences with the battery, because that's one of the main issues that I had the first two weeks or so with the iPhone 12 Pro was that the battery was not as good as the 11 pro, but after iOS 14.2, the phone seems to have fixed. For the most part, I've been getting consistently five and a half to six and a half hours of screen on time with the iPhone, since the update has released.

So let's try it now with 5g who risks their brand new 1 000 iPhone to get some unnecessary shots like that. This guy subscribes, if you guys like when I take risks, recording I forgot to mention something today. I woke up in the morning checked my YouTube analytics, and we just passed 400 subscribers on my channel. So I want to give a shout-out to all of my subscribers. Thank you guys for the support.

It means so much to me been cranking out these videos week after week and to see my channel growing to see more and more comments to see new faces, new people. It's so amazing that this is actually happening. I can't explain to you guys the feeling of seeing the numbers hit.50 100, 150, 200, all the way up to 400. It's been a ride. It's been a journey.

I just parked, and I thought I would do a speed test with 5g and LTE. I did the 5g speed test first, which you guys can see here. The 5g speed test got around 45-ish megabytes per second down and then like a little over one to two uploads, then I turned 5g off and just went back to LTE mode, and when I went back into LTE mode the phone showed higher speed. Hmm. So then I went into settings and turned 5g back on and out of 5g icons, not showing up anymore.

This is weird about a minute or so after I turned 5g back on the 5g icon. Finally, came back, don't know if that means anything, don't know if it just took a while for it to find 5g signal or if it was a graphical error, but just thought it was worth pointing out. I'm going to be doing more 5g speed tests throughout the day which probably drain the battery a lot faster than it should. But I'm curious to see is LTE in my area faster than 5g, that's kind of ridiculous. Could it be? That was just the fluke I didn't move the phone like.

I wasn't walking and doing the test. I sat in my car after I parked, and I was like. Let me do a test. There's a 5g, specific video. Let me test it out.

Let me do some real tests, and I'm glad I did that because now I'm seeing like very weird results, I have to see what's going on with this. I don't know about you guys, but Cheetos is my jam just notice this cool thing. I thought I should show you guys and now shows 5g on the personal hotspot, pretty cool like if we ate this one first, I would never eat there again. Sir, are you going to give me a chance or what your issues are right now, I'm doing another speed test. We are at saw grass mall, and I'm on 5g.

I don't know if you guys can see that Lena's phone is not the best camera in the world, but let's give it a shot anyways, so it says we're on 5g. Does that mean anything? I have no idea. That's weird! I'm going to redo that one, because I don't think that one was uh didn't really make sense. The heck is going on here. Is it like boosting itself up trying to get better signal or something is the way I'm holding it? Okay? Well, you guys are seeing this live just as me.

So I think this is very weird. Let's go to settings here and take 5g off. Let's try this again. I am so confused whoa. What the heck is going on here.

You have to be kidding me why what happened? Bro! No, it's giving me two different SP on 5g. It's actually slower on LTE, it's faster! It doesn't make any sense, I'm so confused. Let me take my seat belt off. Come on parking lot, it's getting faster speeds! Out of the few tests I did today. LTE has been getting faster speed according to Apple's website and their video that they made 5g only turns on when it's needed when it detects that you're doing something that needs 5g so having 5g toggled on shouldn't, really change anything unless you're doing something that the phone thinks you need 5g.

Now I don't know how that works exactly but let's say apple decided that doing a speed test. They want to give you the fastest speed. They want you to use 5g, it's definitely not faster, which is odd, but that test was done in the car. Let's get in the mall, and we'll do another test run, and we'll see how the signal works in the mall we'll see what speeds we get daughter. Where are we no we're at the mall today, because my wife Lena she wants to buy me some gifts, my birthday's coming up my birthday's on November 21st.

So if you guys want to give the video a like for my birthday, that'll be a nice birthday present sounds good to me, but my birthday's coming up. She wants to take me to Nike. Buy me a pair of shoes. Maybe some uh other stores, while we're here, get a couple of things for my birthday, the plan. Well, maybe I don't want to tell you the plan, what I'm doing for my birthday, but it's something that I think is going to be fun.

I don't know we'll see so Lena wants to get into this shoe the Air Force One, but I don't know if you guys can see there's like way too many people on the lines in the like the little aisles or whatever. So we're gonna wait for someone to come that works here and have them help us, because this store has like way too many people in it me and Melina's like far from everybody, as you guys can see waiting on a gentleman to see. If we could uh get my size, I don't think they got my size and see what happens. Lena really wants to buy me that chewy. So we have an eight and the final 13.13 we'll take the 13. , so they just brought us the air force ones.

If you guys can see that I'm going to try these on, they had our size. Going to grab these we got the Air Force One and the dragon outfit sounds like a pretty good poker outfit to me still in Nike store waiting in line, and I did another speed test in the mall. So I did the speed test on 5g, and I got six megabytes down. Then I did the speed test on LTE, and I got over 26. Does that make any sense to you guys what the heck is going on here, LTE from what I've seen is definitely the faster option, which makes absolutely no sense.

Could it be because I have Verizon? Maybe Verizon service is a little weird, a little funky. Maybe it's because I have Verizon prepaid. Why would LTE be faster than 5g? What's the purpose of getting five you then it doesn't make any sense to me really happy birthday. Thank, thank you. Well.

That was a success even though it took a little longer than it should have. But hello. Thank you. That's a nice birthday present. She bought me a Nike jogging outfit, and then she got me the shoes.

She was getting me a shirt too, but the shirts were two for 25 or one for 20, and we didn't realize that till we got to the register. We thought it was like one for 12.50. So, instead of just getting one shirt, we would rather get two shirts, but we don't want to wait in that line again. So we'll do that next time at that cheesecake factory we're sitting down, we got our table and uh we're going to eat a next meal me and the family. Probably going to go home after that, but I want to give you guys my final evaluation.

For today, I got almost five hours of screen on time. As of the recording of this video, if I go any longer than that, I'll update it with more screenshots, but about five hours screen on time, 5g turned on all day, and I'll. Also, let you guys know how much video I recorded. Probably all the videos not gonna, make it into this vlog, but any videos that I made any length of videos any amount of pictures. I'll put that for you guys, so you guys can see.

If you ask me, I think, turning on 5g as of right now as of November 2020, I think it's a bad move, you're getting faster speeds on LTE, and while I don't have 100 proof of this, you might also be getting better battery life. There's really no reason to turn on 5g, I'm so disappointed that I got to tell you guys that it shouldn't have been like that shouldn't be this way, but that's why I'm here? That's why I'm doing these videos to find out what's the best option, if you ask me 5g turn it off. LTE is not only more than capable it's actually faster. In my experience and the battery got me through pretty much the whole day doing. Okay, I'm going to have to put it on low power mode now, because it's only like eight or nine pm so still got a few hours left in the day, but the phone should be able to get me through the rest of the day.

That's gonna, be it for this video guys. Thank you guys for watching give the video a thumbs up if you liked it subscribe. So you don't miss the next video more iPhone 12 Pro videos coming soon again. My name is Kevin. Granite peace out, god bless stay safe, see you guys in the next video.
